The kitten sorting basket! 😀 This is a great way of keeping unruly kittens under control while trying to take individual pictures(while they are still too small to jump out). I’m also thankful for my basket, because while I didn’t get a single decent individual picture, I did manage to get this cute group shot. This litter is currently about 4 weeks old, and will be available for reservation in a couple of weeks.

P.s. The one little rascal was only looking up in one picture, so it gets its own headshot.

We have a 2 year old girl looking for a permanent lap to keep warm. She has been spayed, all shots are up to date, dewormed, and her genetic tests are clear.

Well, that was an adventure! Here is a picture of the first little face to appear, and there were 10 more after it. Nine seemingly healthy babies, and 2 not so fortunate. That’s amazing for a first time momma! I’m sad that 2 didn’t make it, but in the long run, it is probably better for the rest of them. Feeding 9 will be tough, and I don’t know if 11 would have been possible without a lot of outside help. Even with us helping to supplement feed, it’s still hard on them.

Look at those sweet faces! Almost all of the kittens have gone to their new families, and we are definitely missing them. There is a litter due in less than a week, so we won’t be empty nesters for long. :-D

This is one of the hard parts about breeding. The mother of this litter of 7 decided that she was done being a responsible mother when the kittens were only 5 weeks old. 4 of them were already eating some solid food, so feeding them was easy. The other 3 are not on solid food yet, and haven’t shown much interest in switching. They also aren’t interested in eating from a syringe, so every feeding is time consuming. Luckily momma cat will still let them nurse occasionally, so they are still getting a little help from her. She is refusing to clean them, so kittens are getting daily baths, and some have been getting 2 a day, depending on how dirty they get. These two have been hit the hardest, but they are still pretty strong, so I think that they will take off when I get them eating solid food. At least they haven’t been resistant to taking baths, and a couple don’t totally hate being blow dried. Send them good wishes, and please be patient if I don’t get back to you immediately. I’m probably washing kitten butts. 🐱

I wasn’t expecting kittens for another few days, but one of our girls is acting like she might give us some Halloween kittens. I’m going to be up watching her all night.

Hey, Christmas procrastinators! If you are delaying putting up the tree because you just can’t decide how to decorate it this year…….get a cat! It will solve all of your problems.

Litter of 7 black & red smoke kittens nursing.

A couple of the girls having their morning bath/shower. If they don’t get their bathtime, you don’t get to brush your teeth, or put in contacts, or put on deodorant, etc

I completely understand why mama cat is not excited about this one nursing. 🦷 Mama is actually doing a great job with this 8 kitten litter. This little one just isn’t great at nursing, so I’m helping her out.

A Mockingbird has set up shop outside our kitchen. This is where the cats have lived for the last few days.

Captains log; 1.5.2023 - Kitten observation outpost, Day 45 - Doubled the amount of tribute made to the horde, but that has done little to ease their hunger. An offering of triple has been made, which I feel will be greedily accepted, but with no promise to slow the obliteration of the carpet.

Wow, they are growing like cute little noxious weeds. Looks like it’s time to add a couple more food stations, and probably double the amount of food. I’m not sure that momma got a whole lot of her breakfast.

This little one has been the perfect lap cat since she was mobile enough to crawl in my lap. She is always the first to claim prime lap space, and fights to keep it. It will be hard to let her go. 💖
