The whole gang (Lucy off camera in the bottom right) have been an absolute pleasure the past couple of months.
They arrived in June, just hours old and already thriving. Little David may have been exceptionally small, but it didn’t take long for everyone to grow into big strong kittens.

They left here on Wednesday, had their spay/neuter surgeries yesterday, and are each ready to start their new journey!

Not much longer left with these babies 🥹 on Wednesday they will head back in to the shelter in preparation for their spay & neuter surgeries.
They’ll then head to their forever homes!

I’ve had a lot of interest for this group, and most now do have applications in from their first in line - for the remaining, I am still holding meetings with their people, but hopefully they should have theirs in soon too.

If you didn’t manage to get in quick enough for this litter, don’t be discouraged! We have a *lot* of kittens currently available for adoption, and coming up in the next week or so - please head to our shelter’s website www.awla.org to find your new friends. They are all looking for their homes too, so you can help!

We have this little chair outside our bedroom door, which I refer to as “the waiting room.”
This is because the cats sit on the chair and wait to be let in the room 😅 the kittens have been really enjoying it, and quite often I’ll go upstairs to find them all cuddled up on their comfy couch 🛋️

(yes our cats are allowed in our room, no we don’t give them free access - Colman & Tabasco would destroy everything in there)

⭐️ Lucy ⭐️

Brave Lucy, she has the strongest independent streak, but spends most of her time with her siblings. She has been interested in the big cats, and loves to explore the house. She’s playful, and she’s super sweet - jumping and pouncing on all the toys, and cuddling up on my lap. She likes to cry endlessly for attention and/or food, and loves to suckle on my hand for comfort.

⭐️ Edgar ⭐️

My big baby, Edgar is a love bug. He’ll look deeply into my soul… and then barge his way into my hand, convinced he can dig for milk! This guy is forever hungry. He likes to be close, and would love to snuggle up to your face. Of course, Edgar is also a very active boy who loves to pounce and attack interactive toys and his siblings.

Edgar would love to go home with a sibling if possible, the whole litter will definitely need a very young & very active playmate to let out their play aggression on.

⭐️ Michael ⭐️

A true best friend, Michael is always the first to find me in the house, and loves to offer his assistance with work and chores. Michael is a little maniac with the purest soul. When he’s playful, he’s very playful! And when he’s sweet, he’s very sweet. His favourite thing is suckling on my hand as he purrs and makes biscuits.

Star is a brave girl who loves adventure. With boundless curiosity, she’s always keen to climb new things, explore new places, and meet new friends. The craziest of the girls, Star loves to wrestle everyone, leap as high as she can for the wand toys, and attack the butterfly toy. More than that, she likes to set her siblings in her sight and rough & tumble!
Between her antics, you’ll find her coming over for pets and affection, and a warm lap to sleep on.

⭐️ Alan ⭐️

My little wild man, Alan is all “go go go”! Sure, he’s a sweet boy who loves to purr and snuggle, and curl up on my lap for a nap.. but Alan is here for the entertainment. With permanent zoomies, and the moved of an Australian breakdancer, Alan can keep you entertained for hours with his flips and rolls. The only thing better than showing off his performance is having siblings to sneak attack all day long!

⭐️ Sam ⭐️

Sweet Sam, she’s a great mix of cuddly and playful. She pounces, jumps for toys, zooms around and wrestles her siblings. She also likes to explore the cat trees, and stare sweetly at me for some pets. Sam loves to cuddle when she’s tired out, but she’ll be trying to play with you until she falls asleep.

⭐️ David ⭐️

The most gentle soul, David is the quieter one of the bunch - sometimes he can have a few nerves when in new situations, but he gets over that quickly!
A sweet snuggler, David loves falling asleep on my leg.. but don’t let that fool you! He is a very playful boy, just like his siblings. He loves to play with his toys and wrestle his brothers & sisters.

David would love to go home with a sibling if possible, the whole litter will definitely need a very young & very active playmate to let out their play aggression on.

We are ready for adoption inquiries! Won’t you take us home?! (And David of course, not pictured.)

They *should* be ready to head to their new homes during the week of the 19th, so I’ll be conducting virtual meet & greets leading up to that point.

Adopters must be within or nearby the dc/md/va area and be able to collect directly from AWLA in Arlington VA on a designated date.
These guys are VERY playful, and aren’t the type who would enjoy the solo pet life.
They need to have an appropriate release for their play aggression, so it’s important that they have another kitten (or young energetic adult) as a lifelong companion. This is purely in the best interest of these kittens, who spend all of their time wrestling one another!
Preference to them going home in pairs with a sibling.

All 7 kittens are incredibly sweet and loving, and while they have slightly different personalities, they’re all very similar. Feel free to message with questions.

Meet and greets will be virtual only. Due to the volume of fosters I have, we don’t hold in-person meet & greets in our home.

Tabasco’s favourite thing is playing fetch with his springs. Wherever I am, he’ll bring his spring and politely ask me to throw it with his adorable little squeaks 🥰 he doesn’t have a real meow. I’ll often come out of a room and find him waiting to play, or he’ll come drop it at my feet if I’m doing something else. We can play this game for hours on end! Better together 💕 These guys are best buds, and are here to remind you that life is better with a friend! Kittens are very high energy, and are still learning behaviours and boundaries. They want to play all day every day (when not napping, of course), and aren’t quite sure how hard they’re allowed to bite yet. Having another energetic kitten around allows them to release their play aggression on each other - not you - and to teach each other behaviours and boundaries. While you may think that playing with your kitten is enough to keep them occupied - just remember that they want to play at every waking moment, and they want to wrestle and pounce, and chase. We as humans simply can’t give them the same enrichment as another kitten. When raised as a solo, they don’t learn that they’re biting too hard, or that they shouldn’t be attacking our hands and feet. They also get bored, and can become destructive. Young cats (i.e 1 or 2 years old) can also be a great companion - they often still have a lot of energy, and can tolerate a kitten playing with them constantly! As a cat gets older, they spend more time relaxing and less time playing. Kittens can be quite stressful for older cats, as they don’t want to be pounced on all day long. Even “playful” older cats will be annoyed by the constant bugging and biting from the kitten - they want to be left alone sometimes, but the kitten wants a playmate 24/7. By adopting a pair, you are giving them the gift of friendship, setting them up for good behaviour - and making it a whole lot easier on yourself 😄

The Beverage Babies have had an eventful week! Last night they attended a kitten meditation event, and tonight they got to make a bunch of new friends at a listening party for Taylor Swift’s new album - all to benefit the shelter. With 1.3 million views and counting, baby Data steals the top spot as my most watched video of 2023 😻 Can you believe that so many people across the world have watched this sweet girl dreaming? Data - just like Mouth in my previous post - was part of #thegoonieshq litter earlier this year. She was adopted with her brother, Chunk, and they’re currently living their best lives! Thank you all so much for continuing to follow along, and supporting me in both the highs and lows that we’ve experienced this year. Let’s hope 2024 is a good one for us all 🥂

Coming in at second place in 2023’s most-watched videos is baby Ronald and his huge purr! 🥰 It’s no surprise that this video was watched so many times, just listen to that motor! Ronald was part of my Cruel Intentions litter. You likely all remember Sebastian - the flame point who came in extremely emaciated and on death’s door. He became the most handsome chunky little guy. But Ronald was found all alone at about 2-3 weeks old, so he and Blaine (another solo found at the same time) joined Sebastian, Katherine, and Annette. They grew and grew, and little Ronald here was adopted with his best buddy Blaine 😻 Who remembers the Cruel Intentions litter? .

Number 3 most-watched of 2023 was Mouth and his opinions! Mouth was part of #thegoonieshq kittens, and was adopted alongside Arlo of @whisker.wonderland - meaning he has a best friend for life! Unfortunately we did lose his brother, Mikey, very suddenly at 4-5 weeks old, but the rest of the litter thrived and went to the most wonderful homes. Mouth was the loudest of all the siblings when they arrived at about 1 week old - so of course I knew which character he should be! He continued to charm us with his chatty personality right up until he left 😻
