"As of November 12, 2025, a Florida judge HAS NOT yet put a temporary hold on the Florida black bear hunt. HIWEVER,... A hearing is scheduled for late November to rule on a conservation group's request for an injunction to stop the hunt.
The conservation group Bear Warriors United filed a lawsuit and an emergency temporary injunction request in September and October 2025, arguing that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) decision to permit the hunt is not based on "sound" science. The FWC, which approved the hunt for December 6-28, 2025, plans to seek dismissal of the lawsuit.
Leon County Circuit Judge Angela Dempsey is scheduled to hold a hearing on the request for an injunction during the week of November 17-21, or possibly on November 24 or 25. The outcome of this hearing will determine whether the 2025 bear hunt can proceed as planned."
