4th of July is coming quickly!🎆🎇

If your pet gets stressed/nervous during those loud fireworks on the day of or around the holiday and you are interested in getting a sedative to relax them during that time, we recommend requesting the medication soon!

That gives us time to fill it OR if your pet's annual exam is overdue, we can get them in in a timely manner for their visit and fill the medication at that time.

We are open Monday-Friday, 8am - 5:30pm (Doctor hours 9am - 5pm) or you can call us at 805-489-4307

Some other ways to help keep your pet safe during this time are:
🐾keeping them indoors
🐾when needing to go outside to go potty, keeping them on a leash - pet's are known to get through or jump over fences if they are too scared!
🐾make sure they have all identification on them (collars/tags/harness + microchip updated) incase they do escape
🐾drown out the noise by having the TV or music playing, keep them distracted with toys and/or treats

We are closed Saturday 5/25 - Monday 5/27 We hope everyone enjoys their long weekend this week!

Nimbus and Sushi came to visit us for their neuter procedure yesterday🐾❤️ they are so sweet and so playful during their entire visit! They were great for us to give cuddles to throughout the day!

Cat neuters are a very quick procedure and highly recommended by our Veterinarians. There are many benefits to neutering your kitty, first off being how often cats reproduce and keep from having unwanted litters. But neutering also helps with male cats behavior like aggression and marking their territory by spraying. It can also help with keeping your cat from roaming to find an in heat female.

If you have a new kitten, we recommend bringing them in for their physical exam and discuss neutering with one of our amazing Veterinarians!

A few more days of our Rattlesnake vaccine promo! Give us a call to get your pet scheduled!

Rattlesnake season is starting in our area - we are offering a 15% discount for our Rattlesnake vaccination + either the Physical Exam (if pet hasn't been seen in the past year) or Technician Appointment!

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Dogs can encounter a rattlesnake anytime they are in rattlesnake habitat. Rattlesnakes are most active in warmer seasons, spring to autumn, and even year-round in southern latitudes. You and your dog may live, play, or travel near rattlesnakes. Rattlesnakes can live where you and your dog hike, camp, or hunt. Like people, dogs can stumble upon a snake by accident. Your dog’s curiosity or protective instinct can put them at further risk.

Vaccination can help reduce the impact of snakebite, reduce or eliminate the need for antivenom, and decrease other treatment costs. The Rattlesnake Vaccine stimulates your dog’s own immunity.
Vaccines work by stimulating an animal’s immunity to help defend against potentially harmful agents. The Rattlesnake Vaccine is intended to help create an immunity to protect your dog against the effects of western diamondback rattlesnake venom.

Snakebites are always an emergency.
Even after your dog is vaccinated against rattlesnake venom, he or she should be taken to an Emergency Veterinarian for evaluation and care as soon as possible following snakebite. Veterinarians can determine whether your dog will require additional treatment. Even bites by non-venomous snakes can lead to serious infections and antibiotic treatment may be needed. A veterinarian is the best person to consult regarding medical decisions for your dog.

Meet our staff Monday!

Kayla has been with us since July 2021 and is our Pharmacy Assistant and one of our Receptionists! She is a great asset to our team and is always a hard worker!

Kayla was born and raised on the central coast, growing up at the beach and spending summers in the mountains hiking, rafting and fishing. She grew up with her puppy Champ, kitten Grace and bunny Flopsy. She has always loved animals and dreamed of working as a Vet as a child and was thrilled to start working around animals at PCAH. Kayla and her husband have a corgi named Jack Harlow. She loves to spend time with her son, and you can often find her rollerskating bob jones trail.

It's the start of foxtail season!

Keep a look out on all your pets for the symptoms below - foxtails can cause your pet a lot of irritation/pain.

They get embedded in your pet's fur which causes them to travel further into the pet and sometimes need surgical removal. If you notice any of the symptoms below and your pet has been around foxtails, please call us at 805-489-4307 to get them in for the removal. We can sometimes get them removed without any sedation depending on the temperament of your pet and where the foxtail is located.

Meet our staff Monday!

Leslie is one of our Vet Assistants and has been with us since 2021. We love having her as part of our team here at PCAH! She will always greet you with a smile and take the extra time to give your furry friend cuddles and treats!

A California native, born and raised on the Central Coast. Leslie has always had a passion for rescuing and caring for animals. She worked at the Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society for 3 1/2 years before joining the team at PCAH. She will begin her journey to become an RVT in the summer through Allan Hancock College. She has a soft spot for Corgis, especially her 9 year old girl, Foxy. One of her favorite things to do is fostering kittens, puppies and adult dogs. She even adopted her most recent foster kitten, Nala. In her free time, you will find her with friends and family or at the dog park with Foxy.
