🎃 Zippy Pets Expands, Free Vet Clinic and Other News! 🐾

We hope this message finds you well as we embrace the cooler weather and approach the spookiest part of the season! 👻 It has been incredibly uplifting to see how much our community has come together in the wake of Hurricane Helene. The strength, generosity, and resilience of our neighbors have been truly inspiring as we work toward rebuilding. Here at ZP, we’ve been busy organizing ways to help our community recover, and we have some exciting updates to share with you this month!

📣 Since some of our team members have been displaced, we have decided to expand our services to southern Delaware near Fenwick Island and Ocean City, Maryland 🏖️

🐾 Other News: Free Community Pop-Up Vet Clinic 💉
If your pets have been impacted, this is a wonderful opportunity to get them the care they need.
Here are the details:
•What: Free physical exams, vaccines, preventative care, and minor illness treatments for pets impacted by the hurricane.
•When: Sunday, October 20th, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
•Where: PetSmart Arden, 3 McKenna Rd, Arden, NC 28704

This event is fully staffed and supplied by Banfield, and we encourage anyone in the community whose pets need care to stop by. We hope this brings a bit of relief to our community as we continue to recover from the storm.

Greetings to all,

First and foremost, everyone on our team is safe and accounted for thank the heavens! Zippy Pets Professional Pet Care has been proudly serving the Asheville community with reliable, compassionate pet care for 2 years now. However, in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we have all been severely impacted.

Some of our team members have lost their homes or been displaced due to the destruction caused by the storm. Unfortunately, with widespread damage across the region, it will be a long time before our sitters can return to their homes and their work. Some of which have been left without a source of income, and the future remains uncertain.

We are raising funds to help cover immediate needs like food, supplies, and any medical expenses that may arise as well as giving our people some cushion while they figure out their next steps. Every donation will go directly to our team, helping them get back on our feet and ensuring that Zippy Pets can continue providing the care our community relies on once we recover.

Did you know that Calico cats aren’t actually a specific breed, but rather known for their unique tri-color coats?!🌟

Also, most calicos are female due to their genetics, and only about 1 in 3,000 calicos is male—talk about rare! 🤯

This makes our client, Theo, extra special since he’s one of the few male calicos out there. 🧡🤍🖤

🐾🌟 Say hello to Nathan! 🌟🐾

Nathan’s passion for animals started at a young age in Minnesota, where he fell in love with sled dog racing 🐕 His family adopted a Siberian Husky, and he learned from mushers how to care for and train sled dogs, lessons that taught him respect and compassion for all living beings ❤️

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in Eastern Canada, Nathan moved to Asheville, NC, in 2011. He worked in Wilderness Therapy, where he met his wife, Erin. Together, they are raising their son, Silas, surrounded by nature and a love of animals 🏔️🌲🏔️

Now a licensed Realtor, Nathan enjoys helping people navigate the housing market in the Asheville area. In his free time, he loves exploring nature with his family and their dogs, Frankie the German Shepherd mix and Valerie the Corgi pup 🏡🐶

Meet Willow, a truly special kitty with an inspiring story. Willow was a street cat found injured and completely unable to move his hind legs. His wonderful pet parents took him in, and with lots of love and tender care, nursed him back to health. With their dedication and care, Willow defied the odds and regained his ability to move around, although he remains sensitive in certain areas. His resilience and love are truly inspiring! ✨

We’ve been providing overnight care for Willow and administering his medication at precise times to ensure his continued well-being. Despite his past, Willow is a bundle of joy and affection. He LOVES to cuddle up on our chests and his heated pad, offering purrs and warmth that melt our hearts every time. Seeing him thrive and knowing we play a part in his journey is incredibly rewarding. 🥹

💥 Here is some inspiration to get active! Did you know that daily walks are one of the best things you can do for your dog’s health and happiness?

Here are just a few reasons why:

Carson is one of our professional pet sitters, specializing in overnight care. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she fell in love with North Carolina while attending Camp Illahee in Brevard, where she developed her love for caring for others and all creatures, big and small🌲🐞

After experiencing the loss of both parents due to mental health issues, Carson is passionate about spreading love, light, and joy, reminding people that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. She dreams of becoming an Art Therapist to help others with depression, PTSD, anxiety, and trauma 🌈❤️🌈

Carson lives with her beloved black kitty, Grimm, and has a huge heart and deep love for all animals which really shows through the level of care she provides 🐈‍⬛💖🐾

🐾 Fun Fact Friday featuring Miss Harriet! 🐾

Did you know that dogs have three eyelids? 👀🐶 In addition to their upper and lower eyelids, dogs have a third eyelid called the “haw” which helps keep their eyes moist and protected. It acts as a windshield wiper to keep their eyes free of debris.

Kate is a NY native who recently moved to the area and has dedicated her life to helping animals. She earned her Veterinary Technology degree from SUNY Delhi and spent 7 years as a veterinary technician for birds, exotic pets, wildlife, cats, and dogs. With her veterinary experience, Kate offers specialized care, including subcutaneous fluid administration, nail trims, and senior pet care.

Kate enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her Australian cattle dog mix, Blaze, hiking and exploring new trails. She loves finding cool rocks, plants, and mushrooms while admiring nature’s beauty. 🌿🍄

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on an extraordinary pup named Hank. Hank may be blind, but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest! 🎾🐶

Despite his blindness, Hank loves playing fetch with his favorite ball. His determination and joyful spirit inspire us every day. On top of that, Hank is a true champ when it comes to his health, receiving insulin twice a day with patience and grace.

Hank reminds us that with a little love and care, anything is possible. We’re so grateful to have the opportunity to care for such a special dog.
