So many missing cats right now. It’s that time of year when the weather is nice, the critters come out and they want to explore that much more. I will be using this page to share posts of cats in the area that have gone missing and possibly we can help others do what you helped me do two years ago this May…

Today is the one year anniversary of that fateful day in the summer of 2020 that Whiskey went missing. I am very happy to say that he has remained home since the day we found him (after being missing for almost two months). This time of year brings me back all the emotions I had when he was lost. I am so happy I was able to find him but I can also admit that I failed in two major ways when he first went missing. 1. When he didn’t show up past dark I should have gone to look for him with a flashlight 2. When he didn’t arrive the next morning I should have searched my neighborhood vs just waiting for him to show back up (I grew up with cats and they always returned so for me it was “cats always come back”). Turns out they actually don’t.

I should have also invested in a GPS collar when I decided he could go outside during the day. Even though it’s pricey, I spent way more money printing out flyers, making signs, using online search sites and boosting social media posts.

I share all of this so that if you or someone you know has a cat that goes missing, don’t just stick their litter box outside and wait. Go out there and find them as soon as they don’t return as usual. Time is of the essence and can make or break whether you will find them and save you for trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I know Whiskey is a little survivor to be a house cat that was on his own for 54 days just after turning 1 years old. But I still feel bad for what he went through and I made a promise to never let that happen again! With the help of his Jiobit GPS collar (highly recommend) I know where he is at all times and even though he never leaves, if he ever did I would know immediately and be able to see exactly where he is.

I was astonished by how many missing cat posts I would see everyday - and still see! So I hope this post helps someone out just a little bit. And whatever you do - don’t give up hope!

Below are some photos of him since his return home 😊❤️🐾

It’s on days like today that I am especially grateful that we found this little guy. I couldn’t imagine him still being out there alone and hungry on a cold and rainy day like today. So happy he is home and snuggled up cozy and warm with his family. Thank you again to everyone who helped bring Whiskey home ❤️❤️❤️

When the dog wants to be the cat, and the cat wants to be the dog. 🖤🥰🐾❤️

Cute little video of Whiskey and our dog playing in a cat tent that I bought on amazon for 60 bucks. This thing has been so amazing in allowing Mr. Whiskey (who has been back home for two weeks now) to have some outside time without the worry of having him run free in the yard. 😊

After one week of being HOME, Whiskey is doing great. He slept a lot in the first few days after his rescue and also had a bad day of fatigue, loss of appetite and not wanting to be bothered. We let him rest for the day then took him to the vet to get him checked out. He got a shot of fluids and antibiotics and was also given treatment for fleas/ticks and also parasites/worms just in case. Since then he is eating and sleeping normally and back to being playful and cuddly. His boo-boos are fading away and he is putting back on some weight! 💙💙💙

I think Whiskey is happy to be home...I dunno what do you guys think? 🤷🏻‍♀️💙🥰

Here are a few pics of Whiskey his first morning back home ❤️ As you can see in the photo of his face that he got a little scratched up during his time out on his own. In the other two photos you can see that he adjusted quite quickly and has been enjoying his cozy life again 🥰 Also note the new collar, tag and Jiobit gps on him!

Ladies and Gentlemen, after 54 days of being lost and alone, we are ecstatic to announce that WHISKEY IS HOME SAFE!!

This wouldn’t be possible without the incredible Eric Phelps of Sister Kitten who successfully trapped Whiskey last night and the amazing John Iannucci (of the famous Iannucci’s Restaurant in South Asheville) who put food out every night for the wildlife around his home and was able to give Whiskey a source of food and water and a safe area to hide while he was lost.

Whiskey went missing on Friday May 29th. We posted all over social media, made flyers, went door to door, and put up large neon signs within a 3 mile radius of our home. It was one of those posters that brought Whiskey home. After 6 weeks of having them up, we got a call from John saying there was a cat that looked like ours that had been showing up to eat every night for the past week at his house 1 mile away from where we live. With John and his wife Barbara being so gracious to let us to set up a rescue at his house and from the help of a friend we put up a trail camera and picked up a shot of a black and white tuxedo cat that looked just like Whiskey. That day I called Eric and he set up 3 traditional traps that night. Whiskey showed up, but did not enter the traps, much to our disappointment. We set up a Reolink Go camera which is completely wireless and streams live to your phone and records as well. We picked up two more nights of Whiskey showing up at the same exact time every night and confirmed it was 100 percent him from his markings. We decided that a drop trap would be the way to get him and last night we proved that it did. Below is the video of the whole thing (please excuse the expletives, it was an intense and emotional experience to say the least!).

This was an epic team effort and I am so grateful to those mentioned and to everyone who called, texted, commented, kept an eye out, checked their cameras, helped us search and sent us love and support!

Whiskey was very scared at the time of trapping but once I covered the trap and he heard my voice he calmed down and we got him home right away. We released him in our bathroom and after 10 minutes of being confused, he drank some milk, crawled into my arms, started purring, and fell asleep. He is definitely underweight after being on his own for 8 weeks, and has some scrapes around his face and body (most likely from raccoons). But he is so happy to be home and we are giving him all the love and TLC that he so badly needs.

Thank you again to everyone that helped us get Whiskey home! We are forever grateful to get our boy back.

Asheville NC - Whiskey is STILL MISSING. Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks since he's disappeared. In that time we have had 1 confirmed sighting of him the first week he went missing on an outdoor camera in Biltmore Park. Whiskey has an all black face and body, but white paws, chest and belly. He is slender and on the smaller side. He may or may not be wearing a blue collar and tags. He is microchipped. If you think you see him please try to take a photo and call asap!

If you know of anyone who lives in the Asheville area, in particular South Asheville or Biltmore Park please share this post with them and please have them check their outdoor cameras and around their property for Whiskey. THANK YOU!

Update! Finally caught some footage of my cat Whiskey wandering the neighborhood at 1am about 2 weeks ago (video footage in comments)! If you live in Biltmore Park please take a look at your outdoor cameras for any possible sightings of Whiskey, especially overnight footage. Also please check under your porch if you can. If you think you see him please try to take a photo and call asap.

Remember, Whiskey is all black except for white paws and chest/belly. Thank you! ❤️🐾🙏🏡

This is one of my favorite videos of Whiskey taken a few weeks back. He somehow befriended a chipmunk and we would catch him just hanging out or playing in the yard with him. I’ve never seen a cat do something like that before 🐿❤️🐾

Update: Tonight will mark two weeks thats Whiskey has gone missing. This morning I worked with Epic Animal Recovery to try and track down Whiksey's path. The dog led us down the walking path into the forest behind our house and back into the neighborhood on a street where there was a possible sighting last week. He even went up the driveway of the house without any guidance. We ended up by a storm drain where we believe he went in so its possible he is even further out than we thought. Now to get a map of the storm drains in Asheville! 🐾🙏🖤

This is Whiskey snuggling with his sister Ginger earlier this month before he disappeared. They were both rescued from a tow truck yard in Asheville at 5 weeks old. Ginger misses her brother so much and I am sure Whiskey misses her as well 😔
