Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital & Mobile Equine Services was founded by Dr. Ted Wright and Dr. Margee Moncure in order to provide high-quality veterinary care, affordable pricing and unmatched customer service to our patients and clients. Dr. Wright and Dr. Moncure separately practiced medicine in this area after graduating from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. S

everal years after reconnecting and recognizing their shared practice philosophies, they decided to start a clinic together and Cedar Ridge was opened in the Fall of 2012. They sought out and hired educated, experienced, and caring staff members who treat all patients as if they were their own. Cedar Ridge has an open door policy and welcomes you to stop by anytime to say hello. Tumnus and Audrey, would like to say hello, too!

Today we shine the spotlight on Dr. Garner, who is one of our part-time small animal veterinarians and takes a special interest in dog behavior and training. She graduated from NC state alongside Dr. Moncure and Dr. Wagner and has practiced veterinary medicine in various states for more than 20 years. In her free-time, she cares for her horses, does search and rescue with her dogs, and knits fabulous personalized sweaters for those around her. We are so lucky to have such a kind and adventurous person on our team. It is also her birthday today, so please join us in wishing Kasandra a wonderful day!

Today, we shine the spotlight on Dr. Wagner, who is one of our part-time small animal veterinarians. She graduated from NC State alongside Dr. Moncure and Dr. Garner and has been a vet for more than 20 years. Dr. Wagner has a soft spot for cats (especially kittens) and fosters both dogs and cats in her free time. Patients love her calm, even-keeled demeanor, as do her coworkers. Every day with Dr. Wagner is sure to be filled with her signature dry wit and understanding ear. Susan, we are all more grateful for you than you know and are so happy you're part of our team!

Did you know that Lyme disease is common in our part of North Carolina? We have the black-legged ticks that spread this disease all year round. Lyme Disease can cause renal failure, arthritis, and eye inflammation among other problems. Unlike for humans, there is a great vaccine available for dogs to help protect them from being infected. If your dog has any chance of being exposed to ticks, they should be vaccinated for Lyme Disease. Call us at 828-575-2430 to get on the schedule for vaccination. Let's keep our furry friends as healthy as possible.

Today, we shine the spotlight on Dr. Hargrove, who is one of our full-time veterinarians and also sees all of our exotic patients. She has been a veterinarian for nearly 20 years and spent some years in the Peace Corps in Tanzania early in her career. Whether her patients have fur, feathers, or scales, Dr. Hargrove works hard to make sure they all receive the same, compassionate care. Every day, she brings laughter and joy into the workplace through her willingness to take time out of her day for anyone and ability to perform one-woman musical numbers on a whim. Sarah, we are so happy to have you on our team!

Today we shine the spotlight on Dr. Moncure! Dr. Moncure is not only the veterinarian who does most of our surgical procedures, but she is also the practice owner. She has been a veterinarian for over 20 years and has experience in all types of clinics, from emergency to spay/neuter clinics. A self-proclaimed "cat whisperer," her favorite patients are angry cats (and her favorite patient of all is one of our clinic cats, Dip). She is a kind, compassionate person, and you can see that in the care she give her patients but also in the way she treats her staff and her community. Margee, we are so lucky to have you as our fearless leader.

Did you know that your dogs may be exposed to a bacteria that can cause kidney and liver failure in them and be passed to you just by walking around in wet grass where other infected mammals may have urinated? The good news is that there is a time tested and recommended vaccine to help prevent this in your furry friend! If you are ready to vaccinate for leptospirosis or have questions, please contact us. If you would like more information on lepto in dogs, you can find that at https://wv3.io/QV2phPm7 . If you would like more information on lepto in people, you can find that at https://wv3.io/qU4t5ZA4

Our Story

Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital has been offering high quality, compassionate vet care to your small animal family members since 2012. Our goal is to provide exceptional veterinary care, affordable pricing, and unmatched customer service to our patients and clients. Our staff is composed of educated, experienced, and caring members who treat all patients as if they were their own. Cedar Ridge has an open door policy and welcomes you to stop by anytime to say hello. Our clinic cats, Audrey and Rusty, would like to say hello, too!

We believe that it is our responsibility to give back to the community that supports us. We donate a percentage of our profits to local animal rescue and provide low-cost care for both small and large animal rescue groups. We believe that by giving back in a meaningful way with our time, money and services, we can enhance the lives of all animals and people in our area. We are proud to be the vet on record for several animal rescues. Additionally, we have donated to local schools and other non-profits.
