Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital & Mobile Equine Services was founded by Dr. Ted Wright and Dr. Margee Moncure in order to provide high-quality veterinary care, affordable pricing and unmatched customer service to our patients and clients. Dr. Wright and Dr. Moncure separately practiced medicine in this area after graduating from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. S

everal years after reconnecting and recognizing their shared practice philosophies, they decided to start a clinic together and Cedar Ridge was opened in the Fall of 2012. They sought out and hired educated, experienced, and caring staff members who treat all patients as if they were their own. Cedar Ridge has an open door policy and welcomes you to stop by anytime to say hello. Our clinic cats, Mr. Tumnus and Audrey, would like to say hello, too!

Meet Poly, a delightful approximately 1 year old female cat with some unique features-- Poly gets her name from being polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes that make her paws super unique! Polydactyl cats are famously known for being loved by the legendary author Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway's home in Key West has become a sanctuary for these unique cats! Poly is not only charming with her extra thumbs but also playful and affectionate. She's looking for a loving home where she can share her purrs and cuddles. Meet Patches! He is an estimated 3 year old male cat who is FIV positive. He is previously feral but is very sweet and is looking for either a foster home or a forever home where he can be an inside only cat. He is spending tonight with us if you want to come meet him! Today we are shining the employee spotlight on one of the newest members of our team. Hailey has been a part of the Cedar Ridge staff for nearly six months and is the friendly voice you hear when you call us or walk through our doors. Each day, she comes to work with a keen attention to detail and desire to make sure every client and pet’s needs are met. Every veterinary clinic needs a calm and caring receptionist manning the helm to ensure a successful day, and we are so lucky to have Hailey at the wheel.

This sweet little squishy face is Roscoe, a French Bulldog. Dogs like Roscoe are considered brachycephalic, which means they were bred to have a shortened muzzle. Breeds like Shih Tzu's, French and English Bulldogs, and even cat breeds like Scottish Folds and Persians are all considered brachycephalic. These dogs and cats live most of their life with a compromised ability to breathe and suffer from other long-term health problems, but there is a surgical option that can improve their quality of life. Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) surgery is a procedure where they remove some of the obstructive tissues that make it difficult to breathe. Roscoe has recently recovered from his BOAS surgery and is a brand new dog.

Today, our employee spotlight goes to Lauren. She began her career at Cedar Ridge as a Kennel Technician, and, through her love of our patients and a desire to learn, she began her training to become a Veterinary Assistant. At the same time, Lauren cross trained in the receptionist position, giving her the ability to help in all areas of the clinic. Each day, Lauren shows up to work with a willingness to do whatever needs to be done and a genuine desire to help her patients and coworkers. Lauren, we are so lucky to have you!

This cute guy is Archie. He is a border collie who we first saw a few years back. He was a super anxious boy, who would hunker down in fear. He was adopted by a loving family. They ended up rehoming him because he wasn’t a good fit for them. He is now winning dog competitions! We wanted to share this story with our Cedar Ridge Family to spread the word that it is super important to research breeds before you get them. You want to adopt a dog that matches your life style! So both you and your pup are as happy as can be!

Miss Ally is such a good girl for her laser treatments and leaves with a better pep in her step after each session! If you think your pet could benefit from laser therapy (helpful for: joint issues, arthritis, soft tissue injuries, ear infections, hot spots, wound care, and various other issues) please don’t hesitate to let us know to explore the options!

Meet Rusty, our new clinic cat. This amazing boy has been diagnosed with chronic renal failure (CRF), and one of the mainstays of treatment for this condition is fluid therapy — giving fluids under the skin. We make this daily therapy enjoyable buy offering him his favorite catnip toy, but you could also use food, treats, or love to make it a good experience. As you can see, Rusty doesn’t mind at all. We donate a percentage of our profits to local animal rescue and provide low-cost care for both small and large animal rescue groups. We are proud to be the vet on record for several animal rescues. Additionally, we have donated to local schools and other non-profits.
