Founded in 2007, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue enhances the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. We work across county lines with the goal of saving the greatest number of lives possible through strategic, creative, and impactful programming. Through adoption and pet retention programs, a low-cost mobile spay and neuter clinic, lifesaving shelter transfer partnerships, extensive v

olunteer and foster networks, and a trap-neuter-return program for community cats, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue impacts the lives of thousands of animals each year in the Western North Carolina region. We operate an adoption center in the heart of Asheville where you can meet your next best friend. On our campus you’ll also find our thrift store and retail store whose proceeds help fund our lifesaving programs. We are a community-based organization and rely on the generosity of our donors to continue our impactful work for animals as we receive no government funding.

Humbled, Grateful & Dreaming Again!

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. You gave us hope. You made it possible for Brother Wolf to survive and continue helping animals.

We've stabilized after unimaginable loss and have reached a remarkable milestone: Phase One Funding to rebuild Brother Wolf Animal Rescue!!

Words can't fully capture what this means to us. We are humbled to be part of a community that refuses to let anything—not even a historic flood—push away our shared passion for animals who need help.

We've gone from a reality of survival to a place of dreaming, planning, and visioning. And what BIG dreams they are! 🩷

We're partnering with experts to create a place of refuge - where animals find safety, love, and kindness; and where people find purpose and connection.

Because of you, generations of animals will experience care and belonging, and generations of families will know the joy of unconditional love.

You've given us the courage to dream big; we can't wait to share this journey with you. Every step of the way.

With our whole hearts, thank you for your confidence in us, for standing beside us, and for believing in a future filled with healing for Western NC and beyond.

We are so honored to have you with us every step of the way!

PS- We will launch Phase Two of Rebuilding Brother Wolf in the coming months as land is purchased and building plans are drafted; we can't wait to share updates with you, our most loyal supporters; thank you.

Caked in dirt, small bodies shivering. It was like they had been spit out of the earth itself.

Sonic and Kojack were searching for something—or someone—familiar.

A mudslide had torn through their lives. The land was unrecognizable— muddy, broken rocks were all that was left where homes once stood.

A kind man recognized Sonic & Kojack; they were his neighbors' dogs, and the home they had lived in was gone. He didn't know if their family had survived or if anyone would come searching for them. But one thing he did know? He wouldn't turn them away.

For three months, this kind man gave them everything he could: shelter, affection, food, soft beds, and toys. With the help of his community, he offered them comfort and stability in a world that no longer made sense. He loved them.

He saved them. Yet, he knew they couldn't stay with him.

When he heard that Brother Wolf was ready to take in foster animals again, he reached out for help, knowing we could find them a home.

In a year when Brother Wolf faced the unimaginable – losing our shelter, all our physical assets, and the stability we had built – we found strength through YOU. 🩷 You were our familiar, safe neighbor to turn to in heavy grief.

Your care and compassion for us kept us going, allowed us to say yes when others couldn't, and gave Sonic and Kojack a second chance.

Today, as we enter the final day of 2024, we are filled with hope.

Hope for what 2025 will bring, hope for rebuilding Brother Wolf, and hope that you will stand by our side, as our neighbors near and far, once more.

The historic goal of raising $1.5 million to fund phase one of rebuilding Brother Wolf is within reach. SO CLOSE!! 91%! 🤞 But we cannot do it without you.

With your help, 2025 will be a year of hope, recovery, and new beginnings – for Sonic, Kojack, and so many others.

We’ve officially moved into our temporary facility, and wow—we can’t describe this feeling! 💕 For the first time since our world turned upside down, we’re seeing our amazing fosters in person again.

There’s nothing quite like those smiles, hugs, and happy tears as we send animals home to the wonderful people who partner with us - giving them a chance at a new life.

Every wagging tail, every grateful purr, every moment of connection reminds us why we do this work. These beautiful animals had nowhere else to turn, but because of YOU—our incredible community—they now have hope.

We’re not just rebuilding Brother Wolf; we’re reimagining it. Our mission is alive and thriving in this temporary space, and bold new ideas are taking shape. It’s proof that together, we can overcome anything.

Soon, we will share more information about our temporary facility, including the address, adoption hours, and a partnership we are *ecstatic* to talk about—for now, we are taking a moment to breathe and appreciate that we are still here and that Brother Wolf will continue saving lives for generations to come. Thanks for being on this wild ride with us; your support truly keeps us going.

Two souls, both grieving and searching for comfort, found each other at just the right time.

Sugarplum went to a foster home with someone who understands heartbreak all too well. Her foster mom was facing her own loss: her first Christmas without her husband, who passed away suddenly earlier this year.

They both lost their people.

Every morning, Sugarplum wakes up with a moment of fear, a flicker of uncertainty—until she realizes where she is. Then, her joy takes over. She dashes around the bed- her zoomies showing a celebration of finding happiness again.

This will be Sugarplum’s first holiday season in her new home, because she is staying permanently.

She brings laughter to a home where there was silence, comfort when there are tears, and understanding in a way that makes them both feel safe.

As Sugarplum and her new mom face this season of firsts together, they remind us that healing comes in unexpected ways and that love has a way of finding us when we need it most.

She spent weeks in a home with her family, who had tragically passed away. Unimaginable.

This morning, Brother Wolf welcomed senior dog, Sugarplum into our care.

We can’t fathom the fear, panic, and confusion she must have felt for so long. Waiting for someone to remember her, to care about her.

Today, her life took a new turn—a hopeful one.

When we said, “Yes, we can help,” our team celebrated with tears and hugs. That moment was made possible - because of you.

Sugarplum’s arrival reminds us why our work is so important. She needs us.

We are 66% of the way to our Phase One fundraising goal—a historic opportunity that will help stabilize, start the rebuilding process, and save countless lives, just like Sugarplum while we do it.

We’re steadily bringing animals into our care at our new temporary facility in Asheville (more updates on this exciting step coming soon!)

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity and dedication to animals who have no one else coming to help them.

Together, we’ve come so far, in a short time, after such a devastating tragedy- but there is still so much work to be done.

You can help by liking, commenting, or tagging your animal-loving friends and family to help others see this post.

Thank you for being a part of Sugarplum’s story. Thank you for being a part of Rebuilding Brother Wolf. Together, we save lives.

WOW! Thanks to YOU, our amazing community, we raised an incredible $155,349 in just 24 hours to help animals in need for GivingTuesday!

Because of your generosity, we're now over halfway to our Phase One goal to rebuild Brother Wolf! Every dollar raised—multiplied by a 4x match—brings us closer to creating a brighter, more resilient future for animals and the people who love them.

As we stabilize and make plans to rebuild, we're staying true to who we are: saving animals and supporting our community every step of the way. 🏡✨

Whether you donated, shared our posts, forwarded emails, or cheered us on—you made this possible. Together, we're rebuilding Brother Wolf stronger than ever. 🙌

The Brother Wolf team is feeling something extraordinary: Hope.

Thousands of animals have found what they needed because of Brother Wolf. They’ve gone from heartbreak to healing, from hopeless to homebound, all because of a community that refuses to turn its back on them. That community is you.

We’re grateful for your energy, kind words, passion, and deep love for animals. Your generosity means the world to animals who have nowhere else to turn - and to us, the people who are lucky enough to care for them.

Animals like Parmesan, a sweet puppy who found his family just days before Hurricane Helene hit and changed everything for Western NC.

Parmesan didn’t just find a home—he gave his adopters a new sense of purpose. He brought joy, cuddles, laughter, distraction, and unconditional love into their lives, proving yet again that the bond between humans and animals is one of the most powerful connections we can experience.

This year hasn’t been easy. Losing our shelter in the floodwaters could have been the end, but it wasn’t. Because of you, Brother Wolf is still here.

Together, we’re building a better tomorrow—a tomorrow where animals in crisis have the care they need and the homes they deserve. In these final hours of GivingTuesday, we’re reminded that hope isn’t just a feeling—it’s a promise.

A promise that, with your help, we will meet our Phase One Rebuild goal by December 31st.

A promise that, even as we rebuild, we’ll be able to continue saving lives together.

Your support today, tomorrow, and in the years to come means everything. Every moment brings us closer to stability, closer to a future where Brother Wolf can save more lives than ever before. Lives just like Parmesan who is now spreading joy to everyone he meets.

Thank you for standing with us, for believing in the power of love, and for being the reason thousands of animals have spread joy during some of the most challenging weeks of our lives. Together We Save Lives.

On a cold morning, a tiny kitten named Sprinkles was found in a ditch. He was so small, shivering, and struggling to hold on. Heartbreakingly, the littermate he was with didn’t make it.

We rushed Sprinkles to the emergency vet; he needed more care than we could provide at our shelter we recently lost in floodwaters. For days, it was touch-and-go. He fought with everything he had, and thanks to around-the-clock care, and a lot of love, he pulled through.

Stories like his remind us why we're here and why we're working so hard right now to Rebuild Brother Wolf. Animals like Sprinkles deserve a chance, no matter how tough their start in life might be.

This GivingTuesday, you can make help possible for so many more animals. Every dollar you donate will be matched 4x, making your gift go four times as far. A $25 donation becomes $100, and your impact becomes enormous.

We know we can't do this alone. It's the love, kindness, and generosity of people like you who make it all possible.

Marly, Nova, and Rosie were found standing over their mom's lifeless body in the middle of a road.

Hours earlier, their mom had locked eyes with someone driving by- asking for help. By the time she could return, it was too late.

Their mom had been hit by a car, and her three puppies stood frozen, unsure what to do without her.

The person called multiple rescue groups, but heard the same heartbreaking response: "No, we can't help."

Finally, she reached out to Brother Wolf.

Because of supporters like YOU, we could say, "Yes, we can help!"

Now, we are asking for your help to say YES to more animals like Marly, Nova, and Rosie. We've been given an incredible opportunity—every dollar donated will be MATCHED 4X.

You can be the reason we say "yes" to the next animal needing help.

Please share and interact with this post. Spreading the word is powerful. Marly, Nova, Rosie—and so many others—are counting on all of us. Let's show them what love can do. ❤️

She was so beautiful; how could she have been left behind?

Foxy was spotted wandering in a neighborhood with her tiny puppies trailing behind—eyes wide with fear, ribs painfully visible. Every attempt to help them failed. They darted away, sometimes into traffic, driven by terror, anytime people got close.

Days later, when the little family disappeared entirely, panic set in.

Determined to find them, a neighbor asked around and made a horrifying discovery: Foxy and her puppies had been tricked and locked in a shed, abandoned to die in sweltering 100-degree heat without food or water.

When they were finally freed, they were clinging to life. Foxy, desperate to protect her babies, had to trust her rescuers. She knew they needed help.

Because of you - Brother Wolf was able to save them.

Other animals like Foxy are still trapped in their own nightmare - scared and waiting for someone to care about them.

This GivingTuesday donations will be matched 4x, multiplying your impact to save lives just like Foxy’s.

Ginger wouldn't eat, look at us, or even lift her head. Life had been cruel. Then the hurricane hit, sending her into emergency foster care and she was terrified.

What happened next felt like magic. ✨

Ginger's light began to shine in her foster home. She wagged her tail for the first time. She learned to trust and found joy in simply being loved. Her foster family couldn't imagine life without her after everything they had been through – and just like that, Ginger found her home.

We need your help to make magic happen again. ✨

This GivingTuesday, your gift will be matched 4x up to $1.5 million to help us rebuild Brother Wolf and save more animals like Ginger. Let's make sure no animal is left behind.

Liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts tomorrow will make sure more people see them, and that helps us even more. Every donation, every interaction—it all makes a difference.

Together, we can rebuild hope. Together we can rebuild Brother Wolf.

One moment, she was safe; the next…she was trapped.

Fallen trees and branches pinned her in standing water for days. Her family crawled and climbed through debris, desperate to reach Blu, but they couldn’t get her free. They could only give her small amounts of comfort — handfuls of water, food, and affection gently offered through the narrow gaps in the branches.

Blu’s story is sadly only one of the thousands of animals Brother Wolf has helped since the hurricane. And now, We have been given a historic opportunity to rebuild stronger than ever.

Every dollar you give will be matched FOUR TIMES—up to $1.5 million!!—until the end of the year. 🥹 We know it won't be easy, but we can't pass up the opportunity to help animals just like Blu.

We need your help to spread the word. Like and comment on this post so people see it, share our story in line at the grocery store, go to the link in our bio and share our blog; together, we believe we can reach this historic goal.

After relentless efforts and the help of rescuers, Blu was finally free – but her story was just beginning. She needed medical care, and she needed it badly. Thanks to supporters like you, Brother Wolf was able to help.

When you support Brother Wolf, you're not just helping to rebuild a shelter. You're rebuilding hope. You're allowing Blu to be a happy, healthy dog again.

Together, we can ensure that no matter what storms come our way, Brother Wolf will be here for generations to provide refuge, healing, and hope.

Thank you for helping Rebuild Brother Wolf.

Twelve. Hundred. Animals —— 7 weeks.

Twelve hundred animals have been rescued from illness or injury because of Brother Wolf in the last 7 weeks.

We have never felt closer to our community. We have shared stories, laughed together, held each other as we cried. Helped each other.

How has it been 7 weeks? The days are going by fast, and we haven’t stopped. It has been challenging, heartbreaking, and soul-filling at the same time. Having a place to put our energy, a way to put our grief and pain into something bigger, has been a gift in the darkest of days.

Rebuilding Brother Wolf’s shelter will be a long path to walk. We understand that, but we don’t have to rebuild the part of Brother Wolf that makes us who we are - because that lives in every person who deeply loves animals, who deeply loves their neighbors and who supports the work we are lucky to do each and every day.

“3 dogs attacked him- he didn’t even fight back, that’s how gentle he is.”

Jake’s injuries are significant, and his people were desperately trying to find him help. Luckily, volunteers in the remote area heard his story and knew Brother Wolf would help.

Though Jake is back with his loving family, and the physical pain he’s endured will heal, some wounds need more time to mend than others.

After all we have collectively endured, we feel connected to his story so deeply- the pain, yet also the resilience to stay gentle and kind, even in the hardest of times.

Everything is not okay. Our kindred pack is hurting. Animals are injured, sick, and suffering. Feeling forgotten, feeling left behind in the relief aid.

Loyal animals who have suffered beside their people. The dogs who went through the darkest weeks, providing comfort and love to their family, while hurting so badly themselves.

Cats who have lost everything they knew, their homes, their familiar smells, we can’t let them lose their families too.

We will not let the loss of our shelter stop us from helping animals who are in pain.

Animals who have been sick, or severely injured for WEEKS. Their people have been desperately trying to get them to help, but there is No. Help. For. Them.

After losing so much ourselves, we know what it feels like to have everything ripped away - we find comfort in each other, from our animals, and from people like you - who care enough to follow our work. We want to provide that same comfort to this region we love so deeply.

Brother Wolf is launching, ‘Stay Together,’ to provide the help animals need. You can send us a message or email us if you need help. If you know someone who needs help, direct them to our website.

Thank you for caring. Together, we will bring relief and comfort. Together We Save Lives.

Kite was thrown from her kayak when it hit a rapid. She worked for 13 days in a row- searching for missing people in the landslides. After falling in the water, Kite got an ear infection. We were honored to be able to help her, so she can get back to helping others.

Leave her and her mom words of thanks in the comments - to show them how much their work is appreciated. 🩷

Kite is one of many animals we are helping as we provide free veterinary care in hard-hit areas impacted by Hurricane Helene. With our teammates from Best Friends and volunteer veterinarians, we are making a real difference for animals and their people who have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for your continued support, thank you for your donations. Our work has not stopped or slowed down; it just looks different while we rebuild Brother Wolf.

Gandolf was left behind. Trapped in an outdoor kennel. The place he lived his entire life. A small world now quickly becoming a nightmare. We can’t imagine how frightened he was as floodwaters hit his chest.

A kind person couldn’t stop thinking about him, outside alone in the hurricane. The water rising by the second, something generations had never seen.

In an act of true bravery. They went to find him. Climbing over debris and risking personal safety- for a dog that wasn’t theirs.

They got to him just in time. He was now safe, but he was sick and needed medical care.

Gandolf is one of many animals we are helping as we provide free veterinary care in rural hard-hit areas impacted by Hurricane Helene. With our teammates from Best Friends Animal Society, Providence Animal Center, Fido Fixers, and volunteer veterinarians, we are making a real difference for animals and their people who have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for your continued support, thank you for your donations. Our work has not stopped or slowed down; it just looks different while we rebuild Brother Wolf.

In devastation- there can be beauty. The conflicting emotions since Hurricane Helene have taught us this lesson repeatedly. We are full of grief and full of love.

In a time of immense loss, we are finding impactful ways to help animals and their people in hard-hit areas (more coming about that later this week).

Our connection to our community is stronger than ever. We might have lost our physical assets, but we are determined to rebuild stronger than before; so that we can be the ones to help others - as many people have helped us in the last few weeks.

There is strength in kindness, and our respect for the people and organizations who helped us pick up the pieces cannot be put into words. So even though it doesn’t feel like enough, thank you. *

Together, we will rebuild Brother Wolf.

*Thank you: Brother Wolf Staff, for your unwavering commitment to our shared mission. To our Fosters & Volunteers who showed up in ways we will never forget. Our amazing Donors who allow us to save and serve the animals we all love. To people like you reading and interacting with this post, it helps, and it matters. To the amazing team at the ASPCA who have been pivotal in providing us stability. To rescue partners who did not hesitate to bring foster animals into their care. To our teammates at Best Friends Animal Society, working side by side to help animals who need it right now. To Shelter Animals Count for your expert guidance. To the resiliency of our people, our home, we will get through this tragedy together. We will rebuild.
