Founded in 2007, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue enhances the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. We work across county lines with the goal of saving the greatest number of lives possible through strategic, creative, and impactful programming. Through adoption and pet retention programs, a low-cost mobile spay and neuter clinic, lifesaving shelter transfer partnerships, extensive v
olunteer and foster networks, and a trap-neuter-return program for community cats, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue impacts the lives of thousands of animals each year in the Western North Carolina region. We operate an adoption center in the heart of Asheville where you can meet your next best friend. On our campus you’ll also find our thrift store and retail store whose proceeds help fund our lifesaving programs. We are a community-based organization and rely on the generosity of our donors to continue our impactful work for animals as we receive no government funding.

“Follow me- I need help.” Muffin was pregnant and alone. She picked an abandoned house, and had her babies. We have no idea how she survived, and kept 3 of her puppies alive for weeks.
She knew they wouldn’t live much longer. They were anemic, covered in fleas, and suffering from heat stroke.
Muffin went to find help. A brave mom willing to do anything to save her puppies. She found kind people and led them back to the house, checking to make sure they were still following her every few steps.
We are amazed and so proud of Muffin. If you feel the same, leave her some praise in the comments, and we will read your words to her!

Atticus is a happy senior because he was adopted! Thanks to The Grey Muzzle Organization grant funding, we got this sweet guy the medical care he needed to get out of the shelter and into a home.

On the second anniversary of 4,000 beagles’ being rescued from horrific conditions —We are thrilled to share that history has been made.
The company responsible for their treatment pled guilty to animal welfare & pollution crimes. An $11 million fine for conspiring to knowingly violate the Animal Welfare Act is the largest in HISTORY, and it sets a new precedent for crimes against animals. The company must also pay over $35 million in other fines and reimbursements.
Thinking back to that historic summer, we at Brother Wolf are honored to have been the first faces to show them kindness. Show them love, and promise them that everything will be alright.
We like to think they no longer worry about their early life, but if they ever do, they can look to their people, who they trust and love.
In a world where it can feel like there is so much darkness, moments like this show us there is always light, there is always hope, and things can always get better.

Adoption update! 🐾✨ "Han Solo is now Koda and we are all so in love with him. We adopted another dog from Brother Wolf in 2022 (Delilah Rae) and they are the best of friends. Koda is so smart and has already learned how to sit, shake and high five. We are working on wait. He has been the perfect addition to our crazy family!"
❤️🐶Tiny puppies can’t go on our weekly volunteer-run hikes — BUT we don’t want them to feel left out! Today, we did some puppy playtime in our yard after receiving a donation from Wingo Outdoors. The pups were happy to model the much too big collars for treats and space for zoomies and wrestling!
💕 ‘Ashoka’ is tired of waiting to be adopted! To help her and her friends find homes - All adoption fees are only $15! Our shelter and foster homes are FULL, and we have a long list of animals waiting for a safe place to land, but we can only help them if we have space. Fraser is a tiny kitten with a huge personality who was found in critical condition. A severe prolapse needed emergency surgery to save his life. With his body still growing and changing, he will need another surgery in a few months. After that, he should live a happy and healthy life!
We have been awarded a grant to cover most of Fraser’s care costs thanks to Orphan Kitten Club . He is currently living comfortably in a foster home until he is big enough for his next surgery!

Keep your animals safe and secure this 4th of July! ❤🎆
Make sure your animals have up-to-date ID tags. If they are microchipped, make sure that the information is current!
Keep your animals inside if you or your neighbors are setting off fireworks.
Be sure to give your pets lots of exercise early in the day, so they’ll be a little worn out before the scary noises start at night. Remember that too much sun and heat (and humidity!) can be dangerous to pets.
Avoid the urge to feed your pets table scraps or other foods intended for people without knowing it is safe.
Keep sparklers, glow sticks, fireworks, charcoal, and kabob skewers away from curious animals.
Loud fireworks, unfamiliar places, and crowds can all frighten animals.
The safest place for them is inside.
Create a safe space in your home. Lower the blinds, close the windows, provide a bed or crate where they feel comfortable, offer a special chew or toy to distract them, and turn on the TV or radio to help mask the noises outside.
A hot plastic tote bin left in the sun. Inside? A sweet face p*eks up. It felt like he was asking, “Are you going to help us? I don’t feel so good.”
Grogu was the only puppy not adopted today at our event with Hi-Wire Brewing - but he got all the attention from our staff, so he isn’t too upset!

With all of us working together, we make a huge impact! Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Asheville Humane Society, and the ASPCA recently held our second annual free pet microchip event! Making sure your animal is microchipped is one of the best ways to get them back if they ever become lost and we are happy to provide this service to our community!

🩷 Adoption update!! “She is so wonderful! Her new name is Acadia. She fits right in with her new big brothers and is such a good puppy. She absolutely LOVES every person she meets and insists on saying hi to everyone we pass on walks. She’s been going to puppy play group almost every day, and they say she is getting along well with every dog she meets. We love her so much and are so happy we adopted her into our family.“
Update! Do you remember the dogs we recently helped from a cruelty investigation? They went from living a never-ending nightmare to living in love and sunshine.
This update from an amazing Brother Wolf foster family made us smile ear to ear, and we wanted you to experience the joy, too.
“We fell in love with him the moment we met him, and we continue to fall in love with him more and more every day.
He is such a lover. He prefers to spend his time laying around and receiving lots of pets and cuddles. He is proficient at using the p*e pads, and yesterday he learned to go to the bathroom for the first time outside. Sometimes, he still isn't a big fan of of walking (especially through doorways and down stairs) so he has to be carried or encouraged with treats. He loves quitting his walk early by immediately sitting on the tree stump a few feet away from the door. And then his cuteness encourages everyone to go sit with him and he flops down on their lap, ready for another nap. After a photo op, we can usually persuade him to carry on with us by enticing him with treats.
Thank you for rescuing him, and thank you for allowing us to foster and love on Vinny. We are so incredibly thankful to have him in our lives.”

When the sleepiest little newborn puppies needed help, we couldn’t say no. Their mom stopped feeding them, and without around-the-clock feedings, they wouldn’t make it.
