Long post alert so beware 😂

A lot of people have been reaching out asking about an opening date for the pet hotel. There’s not really a short answer but here goes.

Keep in mind our building was built around 1895-98 so needless to say …….. it’s old. And as first time building owners we are learning so much on this adventure, as well as it needed a lot more work than we originally anticipated in order to get correct permits. While we have been knocking out little projects here and there , our main concern is the electrical work and ventilation that needs to be installed in order for us to get the permits needed. That is roughly around $30,000 which is not a small chunk of change. We have been working with some amazing companies but right now funds are limited so we are saving our pennies so we can continue. I would love to say we have an official opening date but as of right now we do not. Just know we are trying our hardest and we can’t wait to share our adventure with everyone. I would also like to give a huge thank you to everyone that has helped us along this journey so far, some amazing locals and local business owners who have stepped up and helped me navigate some of the things I just didn’t understand. This has not been the easiest of roads for us getting started and we’ve had some set backs , but we are taking this in stride and doing our best.

My husband and I planned on opening a doggy daycare many years down the road as our “retirement plan” but when we found out this building was for sale we just couldn’t pass this up, so this is way ahead of its time in our books 😂 but now that it’s ours we are ready for it to be open as well! Trust us! We’re happy to give this big old building a new purpose and a new life!

So a couple weekends ago we started working on the outside of The Roo before the weather decided to turn cold. I am going to admit I was terrified to start this bc what if it didn’t work out?!? 🫣

Well not to toot my own horn but…..

I’m so in love with the new colors and revamped doors! Who knew a little color could make such a difference!

Impatiently waiting for my new window stickers to come in but this was one of the jobs I actually enjoy doing and I’m so pleased with how it turned out!

Ok everyone! So I know when people hear you say “ dog kennel” or “ boarding facility” the first thing that comes to mind is a loud stinky place that’s full of dogs. Or whatever comes to mind ……. But not this!

So just to be clear THIS IS NOT OUR HOTEL, but what we have found a lot of inspiration in when trying to explain to people what our vision was. Of course we are putting our own spin on our design but I feel that this helps give a visual of what we have in store. This process has taken much longer than we had anticipated but it will be worth it! Our goal for all our visitors is to feel right at home , instead of being locked in a single place all day long! We’ve been researching ways to physically and mentally stimulate your pet so that when it is bed time , they will be ready!

Now of course things have already changed a million times , ideas we’ve had have changed once we factored in cleaning and sanitation. Sometimes the things that you really want just won’t work if they aren’t easily cleaned or if they won’t hold up bc we all know dogs love to have a good time and our material things mean NOTHING! 😂

But enjoy this video! We love seeing how others run their dog businesses and ways we can improve!

Removing some old paneling and found a hidden window 🫣 you never know what you’ll find with these old buildings!

Planning on making a trip to our local museum to see if I can find some old pictures of this place, I’ve heard of it being a few different things and I’m sure this place has seen a thing or two. I’ve even heard it was once a Kroger. Excited to look more into this and share with everyone.

We have several surrounding buildings that also have some amazing history in them as well. So proud to be apart of upgrading and giving new life to these places. I’ll be sure to share with everyone once we get some pics ❤️

We have a front desk! Picked this bad boy up from another local boarder in grove city! It’s raven approved and of course Mike had to see how the computer looked on it! 😂 getting there slowly but surely!

The Roo.

This weekend we met an awesome artist sitting at her booth and I just happened to have a pic of our boy roo and thought , this would be epic for our hotel! So after I sifted through the 10,000 pics of dogs and my kids I finally found a good one and asked her to sketch him but make him look like a gentleman and she did! I’m in love!

Hey everyone!

We just wanted to give a little update on how our progress is going…..

While we still have a lot of work to do we want to let everyone know that all of the support and interest in our hotel has made us even more excited to get this place up and running. This renovation has been a little more than we anticipated BUT thankfully I have an amazing supportive group of friends and family that have been seeing me through with all of it! I’m not sure where I’d be without the people I have in my corner.
