Years ago, I learned that thousands of dogs and cats every year were being euthanized in the shelter of my small hometown. It was mind boggling learning that a livestock auction near us ships horses over the border into Mexico for slaughter. Over the last 12 years, my husband and I have housed four rescue donkeys, four rescue horses, a rescue cat, and five rescue dogs. We know the difference it has made in each of their individual lives, knowing their stories. Moreso, we know that when people come together, a big impact can be had.

We ask that you stand with us in loving animals more than loving profit. That’s exactly where Daisy came from… not love, but humans looking to make a profit. When she was injured in the breeder’s care, they then wanted to shoot her because she was “of no use to them anymore”. Despite admitting she had a broken bone in her face, she wasn’t seen by a vet or shown compassion, just sentenced to death at their own hands.

Are there breeders who love their dogs? Yes. But so many pure bred dogs end up in area shelters, including two of our own pure bred dogs that we adopted from death row at the shelter in our hometown.

Please, spread the word to love animals more than profit. Support your local shelters and rescues. They are bursting at the seams over capacity. If you are looking for a specific breed, please check rescues or insist on meeting the breeder’s dogs to ensure you’re not financially supporting a puppy mill.

Above all, be kind to each other and to animals. 💛

Returning back to work after a long holiday weekend vs a regular workday.

Sweet Daisy is so cute when she first wakes up. 🤗💛

Next to her brother, Forrest, it’s also more evident about the growth plates in Daisy’s face being stunted. Forrest weighs just a couple pounds more than her. She’s absolutely precious and perfect the way she is though.
