This is Mackinac, not one of our labs but his parents are past adopters of SOS. He wants to remind everyone that October 1 is National Black Dog Day! It’s a special day to recognize the plight of black dogs who are often overlooked in shelters.
Black dogs need love, too! And all black dogs like Mackinac need extra cookies on National Black Dog Day! Show us your beautiful or handsome black dogs!

Did you know that July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month? Now is a great time to double check: is your pet's collar fit properly and does it have identification attached? Is that ID easily readable and up to date? Is your pet microchipped and is the contact information associated with their microchip up to date? Ask your vet to scan their microchip at their next appointment to make sure it is working properly! Double check your leashes, harnesses, fence lines, carriers, doggie doors, anywhere your pet could "escape"!
