🇺🇸🧨Keep your dogs safe this July 4th!!!🧨🇺🇸

More dogs go missing July 4th weekend than any other time of the year! 😭While we all love a good party, your little doggo may not want to join 🐶Fireworks' loud and unpredictable patterns are foreign to dogs and pose a big threat to trigger your fragile doggie's pre-adoption PTSD.

Here are some tips from KPUPS:
1️⃣Keep your dog's ID tag on at all times
2️⃣Ensure their microchip is registered
3️⃣ Consider anxiety medication with your vet or seek out dog-safe CBD
4️⃣ Exercise your pup earlier in the day and finish all outdoor activities before the fireworks start.
5️⃣ Playing soothing music to mask the noise and relax your pup.
6️⃣ Close blinds and curtains to limit exposures to flashes.
7️⃣ Having a party? Park them in a safe space inside. Keep them in your room, by their crate or close to a bathroom where they may want to seek shelter. Check on them frequently to make sure there is no self-harm like biting or scratching.
8️⃣ Reinstate your original use of a double leash on their harness and collar combo for day and night walks. Consider
connecting your dog's collars/harness with a carabiner to ensure they don't slip out.
9️⃣ Forgive potty accidents. Your scared dog is not your stable dog. Let this one slide!

When Ivy arrived, we were shocked at how she was just down to bones and could barely walk. We immediately took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with megaesophagus and a fractured hip. She is currently on multiple prescription meds. It all makes sense now that because she couldn't keep her food down, she was just down to bones and being at a shelter with so many other dogs, the volunteers didn't realize this problem. They thought she was very timid, calm, and preferred not to walk, when she was actually starving and in pain. 💔 She is currently very well taken care of by one of our volunteers, Karen. She keeps Ivy in this carrier to keep her food down after eating. Unfortunately, it is common practice that dogs with mega esophagus end up to be euthanized because this cannot be fixed. Ivy needs to be held upright to keep her food down after every meal. But we are not giving up on Ivy!!! If you have been thinking about fostering, stay home most of the time, and love holding pups, will you help us save Ivy?

Ewan now goes by the name Porter, he is happily adopted! ❤️ his temporary foster noticed that his toe was swollen and suggested to the adopter to take him to the vet. His pawrent took him to the vet asap and we learned that he has a fractured toe. It wasn't just swollen, it was actually his broken toe trying to poke through the skin. He had to be sedated when they removed the fragment. He is doing really really well with his recovery!

🩷💜 We found Jasmin!!! 💜🩷

Thank you so much for spreading the word everyone!!
It's been a week since she was lost. We can only imagine how scary it must have been for Jasmin the past 7 days.. 💔 We received many reports of seeing Jasmin and it is all thanks to everyone sharing and posting flyers. She went to the vet and all is well.

We are still looking for Julian. Julian was lost on Saturday night. He was lost at Arlington and was latest seen at Alexendria, VA. PLEASE do not chase him, call the number on the flyer.

Jasmin is back home and safe now, we are hopefully to bring Julian home as soon as possible too.

PLEASE make sure your pup’s collar leash/harness is on properly to prevent your pup from going missing.

Studies show that 30% of dogs become lost at some point in their lifetime, and a chance of finding a missing dog within 24 hours is 90% while it drops to 50-60% after 24 hours. GPS and other types of trackers can help locate a missing dog quickly.

We require our adopters to purchase a reliable GPS collar or tracker such as the Fi collar or AirTag as an additional safety measure. Please consider getting a GPS collar for your puppy so you can find them quickly if they ever get lost.

🆘️ WE NEED YOUR HELP 🆘️

Jasmin got lost yesterday around 8 PM

She was spotted in two different locations (green and blue circles). We are working with professionals and we need YOUR HELP putting up more flyers in purple circle. We are praying that Jasmin stays safe and returns to us quickly.

We posted on Nextdoor, Ring, Pawboost, numerous Facebook groups, reached out to shelters and animal hospitals.

If you have some time, please help us post more flyers, we have posted over 100 flyers, but we just need more volunteers because Jasmin is moving quickly and much further away past her neighborhood.

It's with a heavy heart that we share the tragic news that Coby is no longer with us.

Coby arrived in Atlanta on May 9th and was fostered by a loving family. After a week of being part of a family, he escaped their gated patio area on May 16th. Together with the foster family, we posted flyers throughout the neighborhoods, talked to neighbors, set up traps, set up cameras, posted online, and called shelters and animal hospitals.

On May 17, we learned that Coby was struck by a car and crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a tragic accident, and we thank the foster family for giving him a loving home until his last moments. Coby was a sweet dog, and we all miss him dearly.

It is through this tragedy that we realized we want to share recommended steps to take if one of your dogs escapes and goes missing. We put these recommendations together as a resource for you as a precaution and we’re here for you if you need us.

We are so grateful to our fosters, volunteers, and this community. Thank you for your continued support.

Remember Hazel? Latte is Hazel’s sister! & Latte’s birthday is coming up on May 5th 🎂 Will you make her birthday wish come true of finding a furever home 🏠 ?? Or at least a foster who will love her like their own? 🥹❤️ Latte can be a little timid when it comes to loud noise, new environment, people, and friends, but she quickly becomes very affectionate who loves to play with everyone 🎾 Her favorite toy at the moment is a sock 🧦 and enjoys playing tug-of-war with them for extended periods. While she may get annoyed if a 🐈 cat bothers her while she’s sleepy or resting, she’s generally friendly towards them and may even groom them❤️ When she encounters other dogs outside, she’ll often sniff them and try to engage them in play if she likes them🐕 Latte loves going for walks 🦮 Her tail is constantly wagging and she even sweeps with her tail when seated 🧹😂 She gets super excited with treats, but she knows to “sit, hand, down” (in Korean) 🤓
