Calm and Confident Dog
I recently had a training session with someone who was scared to walk her dog into a vet clinic due to the dog's nervous energy.
The dog had tendencies of pulling on the leash, whining, crying, and low self-confidence.
I met them at the parking lot of the vet clinic, and the first mission was to get the dog out of the car calmly, which only took approximately 30 seconds. Then, our next goal was to enter the front door, the lobby, and the exam room, focusing on that calm and confident behavior.
Under normal circumstances, it is not difficult to keep your dog calm in stressful situations. The key is for the owner to be calm and confident, and it often only takes one lesson for these changes to happen!
