Meet Jenna and Banks! They went from almost getting kicked out of their apartment complex (🤣) to rocking their training and strengthening their bond as best friends. These two have had an amazing journey and we are honored to be a part of it! #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Rosie and I also worked yesterday to introduce her to the Transitional Leash. Rosie is quite an anxious gal so everything we do with her will be to help her learn how to handle her anxiety in a better way. This leash is a great first tool for her as it makes her focus on one thing, how to turn the pressure off. This will help slow her mind down and help her focus instead of being consumed by her anxiety. More to come! #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Bernard and I working on introducing him to the Transitional Leash yesterday. Here we are working on teaching him what the pressure from the leash means. It means for him to put his butt on the floor or for him to lay down. Once he does one or the the other the pressure turns off and we praise him to let him know he did the correct behavior. As we work in the coming days we will expand upon this but this is where we start and Bernard is getting started off on the right track! #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Haggis and I working on his “Heel” and auto “Sit” commands as well as his “Sit” from front commands today. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Deebo and I working on some crate exercises. Deebo was abandoned on the side of the road when his new owners found him. We don’t know much about his past and we aren’t going to dwell on that moving forward but we don’t believe he has ever been in a crate before. Here we are beginning with short repetitions of being in the crate and being calm, when he is calm we are rewarding him by letting him out of the crate. We are also working to teach him that he must wait to be released from the crate by telling him the word “Free”. We have lots of work to do but this progress. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
We are introducing Deebo to the Transitional Leash here on his first day with us. We are teaching him what the pressure from the leash means which just means for him to put his butt on the ground or for him to lay down on his belly. Once he does one of those two things we turn the pressure off and praise him. We even got to a little bit of movement in our first session but focused mainly on getting him comfortable with the tool. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Sasha, Rocky, Greegan and Winnie during another “Place” session! That pesky chipmunks Zippy tried his best to get these dogs to break their command but their impulse control held strong. You can see Rocky and Greegan reeeeally wanted to get up and get him but they made good decisions to hold their commands. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Working with Sasha on greeting people with nice manners! We don’t want any jumping, pulling, lunging or other bad manners when greeting people. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Continuing to proof Rocky around higher levels of distraction! Today we worked by the busy road running through his Obedience commands. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Working with Greegan on his drop command! Greegan was named after retired Australlian player George Greegan and it is only fitting that we build up this guys ball skills! #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Rocky and I working on his Off-Leash Obedience outside! #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
Sasha and I working on her Off-Leash Obedience! It has been great watching this dog progress and learn day in and day out. #theprodigalpooch #sitandstaythecanineway
