SHARING IS CARING! I'm not here to shame anyone. I care about the precious lives lost.

If you don't know how many healthy happy animals lose their lives in shelters every week, please tune into the news. And please consider adopting, or fostering!

2023: 690,000 animals were euthanized in shelters due to lack of homes and lack of shelter space. In GA alone, it's 20,000.

The Fulton County Animal Services facility only opened at the end of last year, yet it's already nearing its capacity.

🌈 RIP Leon 💔 We are delayed and saddened to announce the passing of Leon, 👑🐶 the proud king of our little 'No Dog Left Behind' sanctuary. 🫣 Leon arrived at NDLB sanctuary in 2013 after at least 3 adopt/returns and lived to be 10+ yrs.❣️We thank his caretaker for giving him many years beyond what circumstances would have otherwise granted him. ❤️

😘 In the times I cared for him, he most always had a Kong in his mouth, and seemed to assure the others it was ok if tended to them from time to time. 😢We'll miss this big guy! Fly high Leon, until we meet again! 🫶

Sweet Leon was part of an animal control litter and was left with a 'chickenwing' birth defect. While his siblings were launching new lives in adoptive homes, Leon was getting his wing amputated. After, he did get adopted, but was returned for not seeing eye-to-eye with a new roommate. Ever since, Leon has struggled to accept any roommate situation. Unless he can find a lovable loner to match his style, Leon may live out his days in sanctuary. He adores his caretaker, just not other household members. Contact [email protected] for more info.

👉DEKALB CO VOTERS! 🐶🐱If you care about companion animals being put to sleep as often as weekly in our county shelter, you need to like, follow and participate in this advocacy group - Advocates for DeKalb Animals.

👏For the first time in my near 20 years rescuing animals, they are fighting for SMARTER DECISIONS -- like regulating breeding and sale of animals! 🤔Can we really justify breeders when we're KILLING HEALTHY PETS in our county shelter like this? 🤬NO, we cannot. 🤓Time to get smarter and more active folks, these animals can't help themselves -- it's on you! 🫵🙏

‼️SOS‼️ It is situation *CRITICAL* at the shelter right now! We are over capacity and dogs continue to come in. ***We must have 6 large dogs leave by tomorrow one way or another.**** 💔 EVERY dog here is in DANGER‼️ We need fosters, rescues, and adopters today and tomorrow to move dogs out! Don't YOU dare wait until Friday and 😫then tell us you were interested...after dogs have lost their lives simply due to a lack of space!

🫵 ATTN FOSTERS & FRIENDS! If you follow the news, you've heard that dog adoptions are down (and intakes are up).😔 This means we ALL have to work harder to get pets adopted.🙌 To that end, I put together a quick tip sheet of things that have worked for us.👇 I encourage everyone to motivate and put extra effort into fosters.🙏 Rescues, including ours, our overwhelmed with requests to simply courtesy-post or help with funding.💸 It's hard for us to do much beyond that, so WE NEED YOUR HELP to AMP IT up!🎉 You can do this -- and one of these extra efforts just might get your foster pet adopted!💪 If you don't have a foster, please VOLUNTEER to help a foster with these extra activities! Many of us work full-time, so help is always welcome.🫰

Very sad time for U.S. pets and extra hard time for rescuers. NATIONWIDE, adoptions are down and surrenders are up...it feels like a losing battle.

As long as dogs are dying in shelters, there is no such thing as a responsible breeder. Adopt animals from your local animal shelter, where there are puppies and dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds. Shelters receive new animals every day, so if you don’t find the perfect companion to match your lifestyle on your first visit, keep checking back.
