I had a dog that passed away from stomach cancer seven years ago. I saw her in a public, market-type setting and felt bad because she was being ignored while others were playing with the puppies. Well, that was all it took and I decided to take her home. We had a number of great years together until she developed stomach cancer. I chose to send her to Rainbow Bridge when the disease became painful

for her and she could not keep any kind of food in her system. I did not want her to suffer and not understand what was happening. Next, Gus came into my life. He was a former bait dog—tied in the middle of the yard while fighting dogs were chained, only inches from reaching him, to create aggression. (Please, don't get me started on that subject!) He had issues, understandably, and was never a dog-friendly dog. He was A LOT of work to rehabilitate, but he was worth every minute and penny it took. Thank goodness for Jabula Dogs in Decatur, Georgia, as they helped me bring Gus under control enough to realize he deserved the chance for rehabilitation. I cannot say enough good things about this dog academy and what they taught Gus and me. Unfortunately, after seven great years, Gus began biting people. After the third incident in a six-month period—with people he knew and not provoked in any way—I knew he had turned and I could not risk injury to another person…or to him. I had to make an awful decision once again. His transformation had been so incredible I wanted to end it on a good note and not allow him to go down with the violence he was taught as a young dog. It was extremely hard to do as there was nothing physically wrong with him, but, mentally, something had definitely changed. Again, I did not want his life ending in the violence in which he was raised—I wanted his transformation to be his memory, not the violence. Then came JoeDog. Joe and I started our journey together in May 2013. He was overweight, underworked, and needed to be in a pack and not be the boss (he just didn't know it yet). He was approximately 15 pounds overweight and his back legs literally bowed inward due to the extra weight—he just didn't have the muscle mass needed to support it all. He was showing signs of dysplasia and I knew something had to be done quickly. After Brittany, I began doing my research and bumped up to the “expensive” dog food. I knew that better food meant a better dog. So, with JoeDog’s issues, back to the research I went and was I surprised that what I thought was “quality” dog food and treats. After extensive research I decided to start JoeDog on a raw diet

I know the more my food is processed and handled by others the more nutritional value it loses and more unhealthy ingredients are added. It never really hit me that the same concept applies to the dog food I buy as well! I thought because I was paying more, and the bag stated “more protein,” it was better. I now know I was wrong. Just because it says “natural” doesn't mean it’s healthy. I was shocked when I realized the treats I was giving JoeDog were cured and preserved with salt, and didn't give it a second thought…until I Googled salt and dogs: Salt is okay in moderation, but can be poisonous! Wow—reminds me of what doctors said about cigarette smoking in the 50s. DISCLAIMER: I am not insulting any dog food manufacturer—it all serves its purpose. Being willing to make dog food is a big commitment and not suited for everyone. I am only telling my story and how it relates to me and my experience only. Not everyone is going to make dog food from scratch and commercial dog food has been feeding our canine friends for many, many years. Jerky Treats

These treats are great for training, reward, or just because you want to show your MoJoe without the added calories and carbohydrates found in most treats. Because they are made of nothing but human-grade chicken meat (thighs and breasts), gizzards/hearts, pork and beef liver and hearts from the store, they are so delicious to dogs you’ll be amazed at how hard they’ll work for one! NO CHINA CHICKEN OR INGREDIENTS and NO SALT ADDED (Many “natural” treats are cured or preserved with salt. Google it—it’s not something you don'want to give a dog). Food

The dog food I produce is totally customizable to fit your dog’s needs. I use ingredients such as chicken meat (thighs and breasts); chicken gizzards, necks, and hearts; pork heart, liver, and tongue; beef heart and liver. I keep the organ ratio at 10% of the total meat content. Yes, I may not want to eat some of the ingredients myself, but they are all human-grade and purchased from the store for human consumption and/or directly from a rancher, when available. Some cultures eat these components, but, more importantly, dogs LOVE them and they are very nutritious for their systems. I add fresh goat milk purchased directly from the rancher which is cold-processed and never pasteurized so it can provide the full spectrum of nutrition. I grind up veggies including sweet potatoes, broccoli, green peas, and green beans. The veggies are also totally customizable to fit your dog’s need. More veggies can be added for weight loss, more proteins for muscle building, or no broccoli due to an allergy.
