International superstar, Sophia Loren, is searching high and low for her temporary foster home. 💋👠📸🎈👀🏡 Her fabulous foster mom is going away at the beginning of July and it’d be such a shame for her to have to go back to a kennel run. **Help Sweetpea**

Today is National Rescue Dog Day and this dog really, really, really needs rescuing.

As best we can piece together, Sweetpea, as we have started calling her, was owned by an elderly woman who sadly could no longer take care of her. A relative dropped her off at the shelter - and to say she is petrified is an understatement.

She arrived wearing her pretty pink plaid harness all askew and was already scared and worried just being away from her home. Our guess is that she lived a very quiet life with her person for a long time and now everything is new and so loud and so very scary.

We are hoping to find her a home right away and if not a home, then minimally a foster. All the other dogs and their ruckuses are scaring her to death. We had to pick her up and carry her back inside her kennel. You don't know what it is like to feel like the lousiest person on the planet, until you must put a terrified dog back into a space, they are terrified of being.

Everyone at the shelter - staff and volunteers - are trying our best to let Sweetpea know she is safe.....but she isn't believing us. Shelter peeps are working on getting her a vet appointment so she will be ready to go as soon as possible.

🚨 PLEASE SHARE POGO 🚨

Hi All,

Looking for some help here, advice, words of encouragement - anything you have, I will take it.........because since Saturday when all of these photos were taken, I have thought of Pogo.

Thought of a dog that all he wants to do is get as close to you as possible. Thought of a dog that has been handed lousy hand after lousy since probably the day he was born.....yet look closely at these photos. Look at his eyes so soft and trusting as they look at me or Jacqueline who was taking the photos.

Look at the position of his body and his paws, he is turning himself inside out to get as close to me as possible....a silent begging please, please, please carry me with you when you leave.....because I am trying my best but kennel life is absolutely destroying me.

So since then I have been thinking, what can I possibly say to grab the attention of the person Pogo so desperately needs to see his plight and offer him a chance - for a home - for a family - for someone who loves him as much as we at the shelter love him.....and I am coming up blank.

So I will try and let him speak for himself through these images.....to show the world just how wonderful he is.

I ask everyone to share Pogo - ask your friends to share him - cross post him every place you possible can......because he is doing his very best to hold himself together and I need him to know that I, too, am doing my very best to help him.

Pogo is available for adoption at The North Attleboro Animal Shelter and he is a Sofa Seeker through Shelter to Sofa RI which means he will be supported with everything he needs in training, supplies, support.......all of it. We will be there for him.

Pogo is about 3 years old. He is good with other dogs with proper introduction. He has not yet been cat tested. He is a big boy who does not realize his own strength- absolute gentle giant, but would need dog savvy kids.

Note: Pogo has previously lived with another dog, however, it was not under very good circumstances. We do believe in time he could share a home with a dog and be fully integrated, however, at this time, he is so stressed from being in a shelter for so long (a year!) it will take time to accomplish this. Ideally, a foster or adopter would be able to keep him totally separate from other dogs while appropriate introductions are done. Shelter to Sofa RI will offer transition training to accomplish this. We believe it is so much better to go very slowly and ensure success for both a newly adopted dog, and of course, resident dogs. We always want to proceed at a pace that all dogs and humans involved are fully comfortable with. Thank you!

Stevie's ideal home would be one where he is the only pet and older and sturdier kids.... He's a big guy and very strong so could easily inadvertently knock down little kids.

Our beautiful Harley went to foster today with Almost Home Rescue after two years of being in the shelter!

Stevie is recovering smoothly in his foster home and is getting all the love. 🥰 We are so grateful for the humans that help to make caring for these babies while they wait for their forever homes possible.

Stevie will be headed back to the shelter soon, and once fully recovered his Handsome Dan's Rescue for Pit Bull Type Dogs volunteer Rianna will pick back up on his behavior modification and enrichment exercises, while he waits to be adopted! After adoption he will come with post adoption training support via the Take My Lead program with Kristina’s Critters!

We are so lucky to have such an incredible team of dedicated humans who come together to help go above and beyond for our animals!
