We are seeking a motivated breeding intern to join our team for the upcoming breeding season (January 15 - July 15). This hands-on internship is designed for individuals looking to gain real-world experience in equine reproduction, foaling, and breeding management. Interns will work closely with our breeding manager and veterinary team.
*Responsibilities*
- Handling and daily care of mares and foals
- Assist veterinarians and staff with medications and treatments
- Observe and assist with foal watch and foaling
- Assist with reproductive procedures such as breeding, lavaging, embryo flushing and transfers
- Daily cleaning in the breeding barn area, lab and exam area
- Assist farriers with trimming and shoeing
*Qualifications*
- Prior horse handling experience required; breeding/reproduction experience a plus
- Ability to work long, flexible hours during breeding season
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Dependable, hardworking, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding barn work
