When you get to do a hand stripping versus just shaving the dog down. ❤️
"Breeds with wire coats are most healthy when this wire coat is removed and all that’s left is the soft coat. But when you clip a wired-hair dog’s coat instead of hand stripping it, you’re not only taking off the top layer of dead fur instead of removing it, but the coat may change over time with each clipping and become dull in texture and a different color. Hand stripping on the other hand, if done regularly, will maintain the wire coat strong and shiny."
This isn't the end result of this groom or the end amount of hair (I honestly forgot to snap an end pic cause mom showed up early lol). I just want to point out that this method is best for wire coated breeds and it costs more to do as well ;)
Ladybird is half Schnauzer and had always been shaved. Her coat was coarse, dull, and uneven all over. It took me 2.5 hours to fully strip, bathe, and tidy her up. Her owner is beyond happy with the results and is still messaging me about how soft she is ❤️
