🌈🐾 Celebration of Life Sunday 🌈🐾
Today’s post is a little bit different… 😮💨
1yr ago on this day, our amazing Founder & President lost her rescue, Cruiser, after 10yrs. While she has always loved animals, Cruiser sparked her love for rescue and more so, her love for the hard cases. Cruiser was adopted as a puppy, but after he developed trauma due to carelessness of other pet owners, he became a behavioral case. Emma saw the fear where others would have just seen aggression. She worked with him to build his confidence in himself as well as his confidence in her to mediate and advocate for him. He grew up to spread the same love and devotion she poured into him into new fosters she took on. His favorite of all? His kittens! He would cuddle, clean, and stimulate baby kittens and help them flourish in the most crucial point of their development.
Fast forward 8yrs, our President met our Co-Founder & Vice President. Even though Cruiser was not mean towards new people, he did take time to warm up & bond with them; not with his “Fee Fee.” This bond formed between the three became the foundation for many adventures. These three have traveled the country together taking rescues to their rescue partners & forever homes, they have mourned the passing of rescue babies that didn’t beat the odds, they have been there for each other during the storms in life, and they have loved each other without judgement, hesitation, or limits.
On September 29, 2023, Emma took Cruiser to the vet for boarding while her and Tiffany went on a lengthy transport up the east coast. While he was there, Emma asked for an ultrasound to see why he couldn’t keep weight on. For months, she battled loss of appetite, Cruiser not feeling good, and weight loss neither them or the vet could stop. The ultrasound showed them some sort of mass no one could identify, and their only option for answers was exploratory surgery - which he was not a great candidate for. One of Emma & Tiffany’s core values have always been to be by their side during their journey to the Rainbow Bridge, and the thought of him passing on a table without any goodbyes was too much to fathom.
At 1:28p September 29, 2023, Cruiser was showered in love, tears, and the most heart-felt “good boys” as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge 🌈. That transport was devoted to him & the immense impact he had on both of their lives, as well as anyone else who had the honor of meeting him.
In his death, life was given to his legacy. Cruiser’s Legacy.
Please keep our founders in your thoughts and prayers today, especially Emma. Even though so much greatness was brought in the tragedy of his passing, this day will forever mark the day a piece of her soul left this earth. Cruiser stands as a symbol that hope & happiness can be found in the darkest of times; you just have to remember to turn on the light. Cruiser’s Legacy Animal Rescue aims to be the light for babies who are trapped in the darkness.
We love you Cruisey Bruisey. Thank you for loving us & other rescues the way you did. Thank you for teaching us our traumas do not have to define us. Rest easy sweet boy. Tell all of our babies before and after you that we love & miss them.
