🌟It’s Transport Week🌟

On Wednesday, 5 of our babies are embarking on the next part of their journey, and traveling to one of our northern partners.

The trip is about 730 miles there and back. Our goal to make this transport happen is to raise $730 ($1 per mile).

We appreciate any amount that will get us closer to sending our babies off. All donations are tax deductible.

$10 Tuesday!

Our sweet, crazy boy Jack Jack has been picked to go to NC to one of our northern partners!

There’s just one thing standing in his way. Heartworms.

Unfortunately Jack Jack is positive for heartworms and must be treated before he can head north. And in order for this to happen, we need to raise about $400 by Thursday to cover the cost of his treatment.

Our sweet, spotted boy is still looking for his forever home!

This is what his foster mom says about him!

“We have been fostering this sweet boy since January & although I’m extremely sad, it is time that we start searching for our spotted baby his FUR-Ever home!

To our knowledge, he is around 3 years old! He has now been neutered, treated for a long-term ear infection gone bad, has had all of his vaccines & has been treated for fleas, ticks & heartworms!
He is truly a great boy & he deserves a homelife that has more time for him! Will sit & shake on command. Absolutely will be your cuddle buddy BUT will steal all your covers in the process! He loves his ball & is great with our corgis & with our kiddos too! (Ages 9, 6, & 4)
He is house trained (not kennel trained, we do not kennel him so we do not know how he would do in a kennel) Still learning leash manners but all in all, he does great! Loves car rides, if he can sit up front with you. He does require A LOT of attention, he is just as clingy as he is loving! So pls DO NOT message me if you plan to keep him locked up or alone for long hours! He is a very, very sweet & loving boy! He needs the PERFECT home!”

*We are unsure about cats but he has not demonstrated a prey drive-can be tested, if needed

Our four pups had their check ups, deworming, and rabies vaccines yesterday. Our vet said they all look great!

Next week they will get their second round of DA2PP and Bordetella before leaving for our northern rescue partner on the 23rd!

1 year. 12 months. 52 weeks. 365 days.

That is how long Ashlyn has been waiting in foster care for her furever family to find her.

A year ago today, Ashlyn sat at the top of the euthanasia list at Russell County Phenix City Animal Shelter. She was listed as a dangerous dog. Volunteers were not allowed to interact with her and she was never dog tested due to her “aggressive nature.”

We knew that this shelter was quick to label a dog dangerous and aggressive, so we decided to go meet her and see for ourselves. And we’re so glad we did because the Ashlyn we met was anything but dangerous.

She immediately showed us just how big her heart is and that she has nothing but love to give. So she became the very first intake of Cruiser’s Legacy Animal Rescue.

Over the past year, Ashlyn has flourished in foster care. We have learned that she does well with other dogs, cats, and kids (although littles may get knocked down when she gets the zoomies). She can be a little overwhelming when she meets a new dog because she gets so excited, but she responds very well to correct and settles quickly.

While she does well with other animals, she is also very content on her. She craves human attention and loves to be around her people, but she is also great at keeping herself entertained with her toys.

Despite our girl being wonderful in so many ways, she has had zero interest. We have not had one single inquiry since the day we pulled her. We know that it’s just because her perfect family hasn’t found her yet, but it is still heartbreaking to see her passed over time and time again.

So in honor of her one year anniversary, and in hopes of finding her forever, Ashlyn’s adoption fee will be waived for the reminder of the month of April!

Well we all know that when it comes to our fur babies, 💩 happens. And none of us like the clean up, right?

So why not treat yourself while also helping to support our little rescue?

So not only are you keeping your yard clean without all the work, but you’re also supporting a new local buisness and helping us care for all of our babies, current and future!

We have gotten the unfortunate update that the two labs needing placement were the two dogs dumped over the fence at the Chattahoochee Humane Society after hours on Tuesday, April 8th. Both dogs are now missing. We are heartbroken and angry that this is the route that was taken when we had offered to help.

Update: we have been informed that the mastiff has found placement. Right now our focus is the two labs.

Can anyone foster??

The owner of these 3 sweet girls passed away and his neighbor has been feeding them, but is needing to find a more permanent solution. We are willing to take them in, but cannot do so without a committed foster or fosters!

The mastiff is around 2 years old and the labs around 6 months. They are all females with very calm demeanors. They are used to being inside and were loved by their owner, so they are very confused as to what is going on.

‼️URGENT‼️

We are still in need of a foster or fosters for these three babies. We have one foster for their brother so far.

The family caring for them needs somewhere for them to go ASAP. Their neighbors are starting to complain, and they do not want anything to happen to them or to have to take them to the shelter.

They will only need to be in foster care for about 4-weeks until they head north to one of our partners.

‼️4 WEEK FOSTER NEEDED‼️

We were contacted by a family who has been caring for these four cuties and their mama who have taken up at their house.

For the past few weeks, they have been gaining mama’s trust and helping to care for the pups as they were weaning. They have decided to keep the mama, but have asked for help with the puppies.

We are in need of a foster or fosters to care for these babies until they leave in 4 weeks to go to one of our northern rescue partners. They can all be fostered together or can be separated. There is 3 boys and 1 little girl and they are about 8 weeks old.

This sweet, senior baby was found today on Wittel Ave in Opelika, AL.

Per Alabama state law, the dog will be on a 7-day stray hold. If you are the owner of this baby, or know who is, please reach out. You must know the gender and be able to provide proof of ownership.

If no owner is found, CLAR will take over the care of this baby, but we will need a committed foster to do so. If interested in fostering, please fill out our foster application or send us a message!

As of right now, there as been no reactivity when walking by other dogs, but no official testing has been done.

Our sweet Kali is still searching for her forever family!

Here is what her foster mom says about her!

“I think she would be great for a family versus someone like me with no other animals or humans around. She's okay alone but just prefers someone in the house. She's been chilling with one of the cats (through the gate) when both me and the roommate are at work. She's not the best at fetch, but she's got the spirit 😅 She loves to carry around her collagen bone, and her favorite flavor of food is salmon or turkey. Daycare says she loves the play with/in water, but I haven't seen it yet. She does good on hikes- her longest so far was 2 miles round trip with a slight incline. I've been training her to walk on the left side.

She now weighs.... drum roll.... 44.8 lbs! As we were leaving the vet, she went straight up to a woman in her car who had just put her cat down and just dottled the lady for a few moments. She is truly and absolutely a loving dog. With that being said, she's also a scaredy cat and needs a lot of encouragement with first time things. We're working on that with tons of patience 😂 She does urinate in the apt but does it only in one spot so we're doing p*e pads and she's got a ring camera set up so not only I can see her anytime I'm gone but the roomate too. Kali (also known as Kalligraphy) has come out of her shell immensely in the past few days and has learned so much!!”

Transport Secured!!

‼️TRANSPORT HELP NEEDED‼️

We are in need of help getting this sweet little boy from Slidell, LA to Opelika, AL tomorrow.

Jack is medium sized, around 20-25lbs, and is extremely friendly.

Transport can be split up into different legs or done all by one person. If we can get him all the way to Opelika, that is the ideal option. However, we have someone who can meet as far as Mobile tomorrow night, if absolutely necessary, if we can at least get him there.

Our sweet Blair recently had her spay surgery done and will be starting her heartworm treatment on the 11th.

Blair has been doing amazing in her foster home and is coming out of her shell really well. We can’t wait to get her over this final hurdle so she can be ready to find her forever family!
