FALSE ALARM😮💨😮💨😅😅! Does anyone else feel like they have “cat terminator eyes or cat radar?” I swear I can spot cats, kittens, and anything cat related from a mile away.
Today started as a nightmare of a day. We have been at Blue Pearl in Sandy Springs with one of our rescues from 3 years ago, Zinnia. She was diagnosed as a baby with grade 5/5 heart murmur and PDA heart defect. She had surgery in Tennessee at the time and it was unsuccessful after she started bleeding out—they closed her up and ended the surgery. She wasn’t expected to survive past a few weeks and she is now 3 years old. Long story short, she’s having some difficulties and getting seen/echocardiogram etc. We are a mess. We were also here yesterday. Today they told us it would be “several hours” so to go find something to do and come back. Details later maybe, but this visit has been the worst and most unprofessional display of “care.” It’s appalling. But anyway….
Driving on a BUSY highway and I spot a feeding station with what looked like little black kittens in it. Quickest U-turn ever. Jumped out…. Ahhhh, yessss. Only some black dishes. No kittens 😂😂😂😂😂. I’m telling you, I couldn’t be more relieved. Definitely didn’t need any emergencies on top of an already existing emergency.
The spicy kittens are such a BEAUTIFUL bunch and their personalities are making progress too! With the recent adoption of Momma and Baleen(post to come), the Spicy kittens now have the main area run for even more interaction and socialization! 😍😍
Your food donations have been rolling in! We are very grateful, but WOW, the kitties are even more grateful for the boxes 😆. Are they playing tag or hide and seek? What’s your vote?
The tree babies litter has grown! Major growth spurt! Yay!
Oh my goodness— I thought they would never grow. If you missed it, we rescued 6 babies on June 1st from the location of Grey Boy (double eye removal blind kitty). We knew about 3 babies who were crashing, but also discovered 3 others from 2 other mommas litters. They were also in rough shape with completely crusted shut eyes and bugs/fleas crawling all over—- so we took them all. The oldest one, who was the only surviving from his litter, Chestnut, has since been adopted. 🎉 The next 2 oldest, Elm and Magnolia, are just about ready for adoption. And then…there is the remaining 2 (we unfortunately lost 1 of 3 named Maple).
These babies were TINY!! We took their momma cat too to nurse and she is also very small producing little to no milk at the time. They were about 3.5-4 weeks old minimum when we picked them up. It was so hard to tell their age because they were exceptionally tiny and emaciated. Maple was the weight of a newborn and her sisters Sycamore and Willow were not that much more. So with time passing, proper nutrition( supplemental syringe feedings), clearing up diarrhea/parasite issues, we expected them to catch up quickly. They continued to hover just under 1lb for weeks. I was growing increasingly worried since they just remained so small and wondered if there was an underlying medical condition we would have to search for. Then…..
WOAH!! It was almost overnight they went from dinky little things to 1lb 10oz with growing body statures!! They are finally picking up speed and we are SO relieved.🥰. They went from emaciated, malnutritritioned, and close to death to healthy, full of life, and have lots of energy. They especially enjoy chasing eachother in and out of the litterbox, hence all the pine dust. They are still behind and smaller in general size for 10-11 week olds (I would swear they were about 7 weeks looking at them), but that’s okay.. they are getting there!

Helga and Arnold had their first catio experience today!
The past few days they have been watching the other cats go in and out of the window flap and Arnold finally made the squeeze out. Helga was not far behind so we helped her out a bit. They are such a fun and adventurous duo❤️❤️
I say it all the time, but what a major blessing and gift this catio was. Again, thank you CATIOBOB!! It is the gift that keeps on giving to all the kitties coming in and out of our care ❤️❤️. If you don’t have one, follow bobs page @catiobob and check them out. It has been life changing and has brought so much joy to all the cats.
What is THAT?!? 🐶 The Sea Section babies first reaction to the DOGS! This is what I call a SUCCESSFUL first introduction🏆🙌🏼
These babies have spent their time here growing up away from the dogs so yesterday was their first experience around them in our main living area. They have peeked at each other through the doors, but now they got to get up close and Baleen wasn’t too sure about it. The little hisses and Halloween poses are completely normal and we expect her to be just fine… probably by tomorrow, she won’t even care. It’s pretty easy to tell which kittens will be more accepting and which won’t. The ones who are less likely to adjust to life with dogs go pretty crazy, ears back, spitting, and make all kinds of wild noises….
Once the Sea Section babies are comfortable with their new surroundings, they’ll get run of the house! And hopefully new homes very soon! They are up for adoption so please SHARE ❤️
Just as a reminder, introductions between dogs and cats together can be a lengthy and meticulous thing sometimes. It’s very important to take safety measures while doing so because if the dog is not used to cats, it can easily and unintentionally hurt them with one snap. A good method is to use crates, carriers, and gates to get them accustomed to each other before allowing them to meet face to face. Our dogs are around cats and kittens coming and going so they don’t think anything of it which makes things quick and easy here. Still, we never leave kittens and the dogs together unattended. Please, take your time and be extra cautious until you are 100% positive they are ok together. 🐶🐱
We couldn’t believe baby Orcas meow went VIRAL! Over 2.6 million views 🤯!!! Fast forward a month…. I think she has finally gotten the hang of things 😄
Orca and the rest of the “SEA-SECTION” babies will be looking for homes very very soon! Their momma was rescued from a hoarding situation. When she went into labor, she was not birthing any kittens for a few hours and looked exhausted and unwell so we rushed her to the ER. The first kitten to try to be born, Beluga, was way too big for her tiny birth canal. We were given the option of euthanasia for momma and the babies, or to proceed with an emergency $2800 c section. Of course you know the rest. All are well and now big healthy kittens. 🥰🥰🥰
FERNS OFFICIAL ADOPTION 🥳🥳🥳. Yayy!! Fern has been renamed Star and that is exactly what she is. Her personality was just so fun and loving that we knew whatever family she ended up in, they would love her to pieces— and her new mommy sure does!
Sydney was looking to add a 2nd kitty to her home and fell in love with Star at their meet and greet. Sometimes cats can be a little intimidated, nervous, and shy around new people, but Sydney saw through that and knew she would be the perfect addition. This video clip and photos tell it all…look at how much fun she is having now!!!! I would say Star really made herself at home 😄😄…. And we are told her favorite place to sleep is right on her mommy’s pillow at night 🥹🫶👏🏻. Stars big sister named Sunny is still getting used to having a new sister, but Sydney has done a fantastic job of being patient and slow introductions and believes they will be great for eachother.
Thank you so much Sydney for adopting this sweet baby. We are so grateful she has you and has a fun safe future ahead. An extra thank you for your generous donation to help with the other rescues. ❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉
RIP MAPLE🥺 . It’s hard to find the words.
So many people think kitten season is cute and fun, but for rescuers, it’s such a struggle and the most depressing time of the year. Spring should be the beginning of life and happiness, not the ending. Most of the cats and kittens we take in have health issues and have had a rough start at life. Vast majority of the time we are able to turn things around for them and change their lives. But in cases like Maples, by the time they reach us, it’s too late and we feel all kinds of emotions- sadness, grief, anger… It is beyond frustrating when all of this is so preventable….I’ll leave it at that.
Maple was a bright spirit. We had hopes her big personality would help her pull through but her body was just too tired. She was the weight of a newborn at 4+ weeks old, emaciated, had diarrhea, fleas, white gums, herpesvirus infected eyes, but still managed to find it in her to get snuggles and tickles while purring with happiness. She even managed to attack the food upon first feeding with us. God, how we reveled in that moment of her joyful appetite. At the very least, it was quick. She was seen moving around crawling on momma with her siblings and then passed a few minutes later. But really, no kitten deserves to have the short hard life she did. It’s not fair.
We will continue to fight for those babies who have been let down. Again, sorry for missed messages and all that. We are at our capacity right now and busy with all the vet visits, medicine rounds, syringe feedings, fluids, cleaning, sanitizing……and on top of it all, we are entitled to have our moods too where we need time to process and purge. Loses are rough. We appreciate you all SO much. ❤️❤️
Maple, may you find the peace in heaven you were unable to find here on earth 🙏🏼❤️
Remembering with gratitude those who served so we could live our beautiful lives today ❤️🇺🇸
ADOPT ME! STILL LOOKING FOR A HOME!!! How has the sweet beautiful girl not been adopted yet?!🥺🥺🥺🥺
Cookie crisp all of the qualities of a dream cat! She is gorgeous with her beautiful striped brown coat with white tuxedo and little mittens. She is sweet and affectionate! She thrives on human interaction and cuddles and wants to be your very best friend. She likes to give kisses too! She is a no troubles kind of cat whose main goal is to love you and collect her tickles😍
Cookie Crisp was rescued from the hoarding situation and has been awaiting her home for a while. She has had zero interest and no families come to meet her yet. 😭. She has spent some time being fostered with our rescue friend Barbara , and some being fostered by my sister since Barbara is away for some time… so she has had LOTS of hands on attention. She can be a little bit shy at first, but boy oh boy, once she knows you, she bonds very deeply🥹.
Cookie crisp has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, micro chipped, FIV/FELV tested, and has had dental extractions. Her teeth were in very poor condition and now she only has one or two left. She will need a mostly wet food diet with offering a certain brand of tiny dry food as snacks. We estimate her to be around five years old.
If you are interested, please message me and/or fill out an application in the link in our bio on IG or below on Facebook. Come meet her and give her a chance! With a personality like this, you will for sure gaina new best friend😍😍
CUTEST BABY SQUEAK EVERRRRRRR!!! I dare you to play it just once. Orca just emits sweetness on every level 🥹🥹❤️❤️
