It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our sweet, rambunctious, water crazy, ball/Kong/snowball retrieving, my “Big White Horse”, Samson. He was 13 years and 3 months young.
He was named for his size and strength, like Samson in the Bible. He was always on the go and truly LOVED retrieving anything! He loved when we hit softballs in the yard. He loved participating in DockDogs, tho at 110 lbs., he couldn’t jump too far, but we celebrated with him anyway. He loved going to the river and never knew a stranger, often giving his frisbee or ball to someone else if “mom” refused to throw it anymore so he would take a break. He nearly died several years ago, getting overheated from retrieving too much. He was a fireball, but he was a complete joy! He sired 248 of the Scenic Ridge Labrador pups and probably another 80 or so for a few other breeders. (He enjoyed his job😉) Nearly everyone raved over his pups…they were beautiful, sound, healthy, and great family dogs. The hunters liked them for their drive and passion of the water.
We’re missing ol Sam, but know he’s still running and chasing something over rainbow bridge with all his buddies who’ve gone b4 him. We look forward to meeting up again someday❤️.

UPDATE AS OF JAN. 31…
Bear and Harley have been adopted🎉🥰

These 2 handsome Scenic Ridge fellas are in need of a new forever home. Their owner died unexpectedly a little over a month ago. They are currently in a “no kill” shelter in House Springs, MO. They are both 6-1/2 years old ; neutered, house trained, UTD on shots, Heartgard, etc. There are no known health issues.
In checking with the shelter, the adoption fee is $150, but if the person is 60 years or older, they can adopt for $1 and all vaccinations and meds for the life of the dogs are FREE through their facility! (WOW!!!) If anyone is interested, please contact the shelter whose info I’ve shared on this post. Their names are Harley and Bear and are super sweet boys.

As I continue to prepare for my retirement from breeding Labrador Retrievers in 2022 (after 19 wonderful years) it is ALWAYS hard to let go of some of my babies, many whom were born and raised here. Though it brings tears to my eyes, I am excited for the new and exciting journey that awaits them with their new families. Boomer, who has been the sweetest, most loving and playful boy for 8 years, will be living his best life at the Lake of the Ozarks with Patrick Bissen, his lovely wife, a few other dogs, cats and an 18 year old African tortoise. I’d love to see Boomer’s expression when he meets that big boy😂
I’m already looking forward to visiting Boomer and our new friends next summer at the lake!
