And Then There’s Maude

So much love on this page. I can’t tell you all how much it it means to me. I am so lucky to have ended up with her.

She definitely feels the love from all that followed her. I will be better about posting a new pic now and then. It just took me a long time to even be able to see her page.

This is one of my favorites. Seriously… she was such a nut!!

This came up in my memories today. I miss her so much. She was such a lovable knucklehead. There was not a day that went by where she didn’t make me laugh numerous times. She went through so much, and left us way too soon. She was truly one of a kind. ❤️🐾

It is with a very broken heart that I am sharing this devestating news about Maudey. Our sweet, funny, smiling, albino hippo, has crossed the rainbow bridge.

After a couple vet visits to see why she was lethargic and not eating much, we ended up at VCA Aurora where she was admitted overnight. We knew something wasn’t right with her liver, Gallbladder, and her blood wasn’t clotting. She was turning yellow and needed a blood transfusion to be able to do the diagnostics to find more answers.

Within 24 hours they called for us to come say goodbye to Maude.

She brought smiles and laughter to everyone she met, in person and through social media. She shined her light being a Safe Humane Ambassador dog and therapy dog for kids at Hephzibah House.

Run free sweet girl…farting without care.

You lived. You were loved. You will be missed more than you know. 💔

Maude wanted to remind people to shop at Two Bostons. She loves the Wheaton team! As you can see she decided to help herself to some goodies.

Maude had her friend Mabel over yesterday to hang out. They could not be more opposite, yet they get along incredibly well.

Our resident goofball Maude has managed to behave well enough to become one of the dogs who visits a foster home on Sundays.
All 4 bully breeds share their tail wags, slobber, and love, with a group of kids in the Animal Therapy program.
It’s unacceptable that these dogs would be banned in some towns, states, and even countries!
Hopefully we are changing minds about the stigma attached to bully breeds.

Maudey has been a busy girl!!!
Sunday morning she started her volunteer work with the kids at Hephzibah House.
Then a quick stop at her favorite store Two Bostons - Wheaton where she saw her favorite people and met a new friend Smalls. Smalls is available for adoption through Chi-Town Pitties, Inc.
After that she filled in at Lifetime Bonds, where she hangs with some great shelter dogs from Naperville Area Humane Society, and Animal Care League in Oak Park.

Then yesterday a walk with her pal Ringo to walk off all the treats she had on Sunday! She definitely had a food hangover.

There are some wonderful dogs out there looking for homes. 
Rescue, adopt, volunteer, foster. Shelters are overflowing with no choice other than to euthanize. Rescues are full and need dedicated fosters.
 
Humans created this mess. We need to do better. The dogs deserve better.
We owe it to them.

Dear Maudey lovers. I suck at social media. I apologize for not being better about updates. I will try to be better.

We enjoyed the holiday weekend and we did a walk with some friends ! Thank you Lindsay Bee, Lori Ogawa, and Taka, for our lovely walk at St.James. I can’t forget to mention a stop in our favorite store. Two Bostons - Wheaton is always so good to us! Maude feels like royalty there!!!

The aftermath was an albino hippo on a cool floor, and some snuggles. Love this girl so much.
