Each of these and many more are factors to consider before adopting a dog. Careful consideration should be put into the breed(s) of the dog that you adopt because lifestyle compatability matters! ✨️💯

Before you complain about your dog being restless or destructive, think about their breed and what they need. Do they need sturdier toys? More enrichment activities? Would they enjoy going for a run each day? Would they benefit from working on training each day to give them something to stimulate them mentally?💭💡

Just as humans have needs for enrichment, creativity, learning, and work, so do dogs! 🐾🐶

If your dog is in need of more exercise and enrichment, I'm here to help! My drop-in rate starts at $15 for 30 minutes of uninterrupted time that could include a walk, run, play time at home, or a hike on a trail! 🚶‍♀️🌄🎒 Drop-ins can be reserved for up to 60 minutes with your furry family member giving them the attention and enrichment they need while you are away at work!

DOGGIE DAY OUTs will be coming in March as the weather permits. These will include group outings to dog parks, forest preserves, hiking trails, and, someday, even the beach!

RESEARCH REQUIRED!

Choosing a dog just because of the way they look.

We wouldn’t choose a partner or make a commitment to sharing our lives with someone based purely on the way they look – (I suppose there could be exceptions in some cases!)

We would first really get to know them, what kind of personality they have and who they really are before making that sort of commitment.

Yet people continue to choose dogs just because of the way they look.

Maybe they saw a dog like that in a movie that they enjoyed or maybe they just really like the way they look, without having any understanding or thought to learn about what that particular breed was selectively bred to do and what behaviour might be expected.

The way a dog behaves is not always specific to the breed. Dogs are individuals, with their own unique personality and their behaviour is shaped not only by genetics, but by specific life and learning experiences and environment, but problems can happen when the traits of that breed and their specific needs are not taken into account.

Some breeds may just simply not be compatible with a particular person or family’s needs, lifestyle, environment or expectations.

Is it fair or ethical to need to suppress, train out or even punish breed specific tendencies, calling them behaviour problems, when we hold a dog in a captive environment that is unsuitable for them.

First research the breed and learn all you can about potential traits and what to expect before making that choice.

Chapped Paws are a common problem for dogs in the cold 🥶🐾 the paw pads may crack and bleed, and the nails become brittle and break. To help prevent this, try using paw pad balm on your dog before letting them outside, and of course, be sure to limit their cold exposure time!

I want everybody to look at faces like this everyday, so they think twice before purchasing from a breeder. Society is failing by constantly demanding more than we can take care of or provide for, (accountability!) and being all about "me me me". Making an animal reproduce in order for you to say you have a purebred, without any other purpose, is SELFISH. If you don't like that statement, please unfriend me. If you're with me, feel free to share.

Animals like this are lost, alone, and have no idea what love feels like. And millions and millions each year face their death when nobody comes for them.

We can do better.
