Forgotten Friday: Castle 🏰💚

Meet Castle, our Forgotten Friday pup who has been patiently waiting 79 days for her forever family.

Castle is a 1.5-year-old pit bull terrier mix with the sweetest heart. She’s the total package. She’s wonderful with kids, cats, and other dogs, making her an easy fit for so many different homes. She does great in the car and truly enjoys going for rides. Castle is also potty-trained, spayed, and fully ready to settle into a home of her own.

🐾 Paw-sitive Endings: Zelda 🐾

Zelda found her furever home with Elle and Nick on September 7, 2025.

This happy girl loves spending time with her favorite people, zooming around Grandma’s yard, and happily eating all the bully sticks! 🦴

She also has one of the cutest habits - Zelda sleeps flat on her back with all four legs in the air, completely relaxed and unbothered!

We love seeing Zelda so happy, loved, and living her best life in her forever home! 💚

They were very shy at first, but with time and love they’ve blossomed into the lovey, wiggly pups they were always meant to be. Now they’re all about cuddles, curiosity, and showing off their sweet personalities.

With one precious girl (Mary) and two handsome boys (Peter & Paul), this trio is ready to grow alongside their future families and become loyal lifelong companions.

Welcome Wednesday! I'm so excited to share our 20 newest arrivals with you. From rags to riches, these kids are out of the cold and into their loving foster homes tonight.

1. Our driver went to Lexington Kentucky and met up with 4 different transport drivers from our Kentucky Adoption Partners.

2. Our wonderful transport driver brought all of the babies back to Hebron Kentucky to meet fosters from Indiana, Ohio & Kentucky with their new babies.

3. One of our medical leads was on site to give 1st Puppy vaccinations to 13 puppies. Dewormer and flea/ tick prevention was sent home with each foster to give to their babies after the excitement from transport was over. These resources are costly and we don't want to risk losing them if the pups get car sick on their way home.

4. Supplies were handed out to the fosters. Puppy Food, adult food, a puppy pen, dog bowls, a dog bed and a box of puppy pads (a precious resource).

5. Many of the fosters went home to get baths and cleaned up before getting tucked in for the night. Many of these babies got to experience what a full belly feels like for the first time.

6. Tomorrow morning, our director will be up at 6am to begin the process of getting the new adult intakes to the vet to get fixed, vaccinated, microchipped & heartworm tested.

7. You can anticipate most of these beautiful babies to be on the adoption list in approximately 7-10 days after their medical quarantine is up.

2026 is off to a fast start!

In just the first two weeks of the new year, Stray Haven has already taken in 60 animals - 52 dogs and 8 cats - all needing safety, care, and a second chance.

Last year was a big one for Stray Haven, and the need hasn’t slowed down. With intake numbers climbing quickly, the costs of vetting, food, supplies, and transport add up fast, and we can’t do this work without the support of our community.

Meet Amore! 💚

Amore’s name means love, and that’s exactly what this little fighter is made of.

When Amore was found, she was just a few weeks old and suffering from a severe leg infection. Our vets were deeply concerned about the risk of sepsis, and because of her tiny size and young age, surgery to remove her leg would have been extremely high risk. Instead, we chose to give Amore a chance to fight.

With intensive antibiotics, daily Epsom salt soaks, and lots of TLC, Amore did what she does best - she fought hard. And because of that, we were able to save her leg.

Now almost 3 months old, Amore is the sweetest, spunkiest little kitten you could imagine. She’s playful, loving, and full of personality - a true testament to resilience and the power of second chances.

💕💕 Please welcome Evie to our Stray Haven family. Evie was named for her freedom ride, which happened to be on New Year’s “Eve”, so we decided to name her Evie. She is a 3-4 month old Shepherd doodle mix. She came to us from a shelter in Kentucky.

She is a very sweet, playful puppy. She gets along well with all the other dogs. She likes to say hi to the cat whenever she sees her, although the cat doesn’t really love Evie because Evie wants to play.

She is crate trained and doing very well with house training. She usually will go to the door and whine when she wants to go out.

She loves toys and snuggles, does well in the car, and is great for baths and getting her toenails trimmed. Her hair is so super soft!

Despite being abandoned in a shelter as a young puppy, she has nothing but love to give, she’s just a very sweet natured girl!

Mutt & Jeff : Mutt - Days in Rescue : 65
(Last of his litter and growing up in rescue.)

Mutt (6 months), a shy pup, is undergoing significant personal growth. His comfort level with taking treats has improved markedly, and he is learning to enjoy these interactions. Despite initial reservations around new people, Mutt is not aggressive and reveals a deep affection for human company once trust is established. He engages gently with cats and enjoys chewing designated toys. Mutt's sociable nature extends to dogs, with whom he enjoys play. Progress in potty training is notable, with increased frequency of successful uses of potty pads and reduced nighttime accidents. Mutt's future adopter will appreciate the rewards of a patient and loving approach.
