It stays on and never slips off, it is comfortable and soft and cleans really well. Get two so that when one is in the washer the other can be used while you're waiting. She is healing well thanks to the sleeve because we knew the anxiety of the cone would have been to much for her to bear. plus she's not bashing into doorways like she would have with the cone. if your dog has leg surgery or any injury that you need to be kept clean and dry THIS is the product you want ! "Licksleeve has been a lifesaver for me and Rosie. We’ve battled a wound on her rear hock, and it’s been difficult to heal completely because the e-collar hits the middle of the wound and continually re-injured it. Wearing the Licksleeve has enabled Rosie to play all day instead of going stir crazy being so limited not playing with most of her toys. "Lily Pearl had CCL surgery 7/23/24. She is a very large (120 lb) and very long Great Pyrenees mix. The largest cone did not stop her from being able to get to her stiches. A stop collar had to be put on behind the cone. The lick sleeve has enabled her to rest and go out to the bathroom comfortably without the cone. "Purchased this at the recommendation of the DVM orthopedic surgeon. He said it was better than our Aussie Shepherd to wear rather than "cone of shame". The surgeon put it on her after the completion of her surgery. I've seen my Aussie lick it, but doesn't seem to mind wearing it. For me, I don't have to worry about her biting at bandage dressings or lick her incision sight. I had looked for this on Amazon, but only found what looked like leg braces and such. I don't know what the material is, but seems not to bother her and is working well as designed. Overnight if he tossed and turned, the strap over his back would wiggle off and he would have access to licking his leg.
