As a foster-based rescue, we are forever grateful for our amazing fosters that open up their homes to cats in need. We truly mean it when we say we could not save lives without them. Rae has been with us for well over a decade and has fostered more kittens than we can count! We are incredibly thankful for her, as are all the kitties she’s helped save over the years.

We are sad to share that Rae recently suffered the tragic, unexpected loss of her beloved son, Casey. It has turned her world upside down and we want to support her in any way we can. The holidays are a time often spent with loved ones and our hearts ache knowing Rae is going through the unimaginable. We’re asking for your help in supporting our friend by donating if you can to the GoFundMe set up by her family. Another way to help Rae is by sharing this post with friends and family. Thank you for helping us give back to someone who is incredibly special to us all 💝

Meet Frosty the Snowshoe ☃️

This sweet girl was seized by animal control after finding her being kept in a wire cage so small she couldn’t even move. She had open wounds and old scars on her legs from being pressed against the bars of the kennel for so long. Frosty was malnourished and also had an upper respiratory infection. Despite her traumatic experiences and being in such rough shape, Frosty immediately nudged her hand into her foster’s hand when getting picked up from the shelter.

Our biggest expense is vetting, especially when we intake kitties like Frosty that require extra care. Donate towards Frosty’s care by helping us reach our Giving Tuesday goal of $15,000.

Just chiming in for a quick update on totals for today.

As of 8 PM, we are at approximately $9800. That leaves another $5200 to make our goal of $15,000. To donate, please see the links in the comments. Facebook makes us put them there or it puts our posts lower in everyone's feeds. If you haven't already, please share to your feeds.

If you have already donated and/or shared, we thank you so much! None of our efforts are possible without yours.

We were contacted about a huge colony of over 20 stray cats in rural Jasper, Texas that desperately needed our help. They were being attacked/killed by stray dogs and their only source of food was from a kind elderly woman who put out cat food whenever she could afford it. So far, our volunteers have spent over 30 hours traveling and trapping 18 of these cats. But we aren’t done yet. We are committed to saving every cat in the colony, Siamese or not.

This one colony will cost us thousands of dollars in vet care but we couldn’t turn a blind eye. Donate towards our $15,000 Giving Tuesday goal to help us get these cats the care they deserve.

Meet Jingle. Yesterday a local shelter reached out to us about a kitten that had been owner surrendered in horrific condition. He has a number of issues like mange, ringworm, parasites and a broken tail just to name a few. We don’t know how anyone could let this tiny guy suffer for so long. He is now safe with a medical foster and will never know pain or suffering again. We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery - crooked tail aside.

Donate towards our Giving Tuesday goal of $15,000 to help us save kitties like Jingle that need extra care!

As of 3:30 PM, we are approximately 25% to goal. Keep sharing and let's get those funds rolling in.

We are kicking off Giving Tuesday just a few minutes early. A few donations have already started coming in and we are so grateful.

Sebastian is this year's ambassador. He is newly listed and adoptable.

Our goal this year is $15,000.

Austin Siamese Rescue does two major fundraisers each year. One for Giving Tuesday and one in the Spring during Amplify Austin. Together these help us pay for the medical needs of the cats and kittens we bring into the rescue during the year. Kitten season has gotten longer each year in Central Texas and our funds are depleted as we move into winter. Your generous donations will help us care for the many cats we get pleas to help during the winter and take us into the next start of kitten season.

You can donate multiple ways:

https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=H7KY2L7EXXTEU

https://www.amplifyatx.org/organizations/austin-siamese-rescue

If you can't donate at this time, donations are always welcome using these links. Please share our Giving Tuesday posts to your circle to spread the word. You can also check in through the day tomorrow for periodic updates on how much we have raised and see the stories of the cats we've helped in 2024.

Please watch our page for Painting with a Twist events to paint your pet. There will be one in South Austin and one in North Austin after the first of the year.

As always, we thank you so very much for all of your support.

Princess Plum and Zeke came from a shelter in south Texas. Zeke was not thriving and Plum’s eyes stay dilated. With the help of donations, both were able to get the care that they needed. Plum saw an eye specialist to determine why her eyes stay dilated. It turns out she was born almost completely blind but acclimated so well that it never bothered her. These two kitties became best friends and were adopted together. A recent update from their adopter says that they are doing great and you’d never guess Plum is blind.
