Legacy Sugar Gliders is named after my late daughter, Jenna. 2/21/95-9/13/21

We have been blessed to have an amazing relationship with animals of all shapes and sizes, wild and captive; we’ve attributed this to simply having a soul that creatures recognize as kind and respectful, caring enough to stand up for them because their voices cannot be heard by most.

Labeled by many as an “animal communicator” or “..whisperer “, I was once embarrassed by these statements, I have since become proud and eager to fulfill the responsibilities associated with them. My journey over the past 50 years has made me realize how important it is to embrace gifts that make us who we are and to share them. I’ve never been so touched as both with my failures and successes with all creatures I have the pleasure to be in contact with. In learning the unique ways animals communicate with each other and with people, most of my education was gained through direct interaction with them, far surpassing the teachings of my formal education and certifications. While the animals have realized improvements in their experiences with me, it is I who have truly gained the most and treasure it.
I AM here for the creatures.

My daughter wanted for me to fulfill my “Legacy” and that’s where our story begins.

We hold the belief that all creatures can and will experience happiness in homes with people. After years of working on an idea to provide beautiful souls an equally wonderful home, the goal seemed obviously too simple. Strong ethics regarding environment, experiences and prevention of bad matches were/are frightening to me; it is key to prevent any such happenings.
One day, it dawned on me-I had studied foreign scientific research regarding foxes and breeding to discover whether or not behavior, or rather disposition, can be affected simply by specific care of the parents. Stemming from that ‘awakening’ train of thought, my excitement grew exponentially and soon thereafter, Legacy Sugar Gliders was borne.
At Legacy Sugar Gliders, we have created a breeding program incorporating exceptional bloodlines and personalities. With no disregard of popular beliefs, rules, or guidelines it is our goal to remain ethically intact when it comes to over breeding and creating animals that are likely to find themselves up for adoption at some point down the line. While some things obviously cannot be prevented, we all know that life definitely gets in the way, we know you will be pleased with what our program can now say is a huge success!
I would like to introduce to you the first sugar glider (that never had human contact), that has amazing and immediate love and bond with people, upon first sight!
Her name is Crescent, named after the beautiful crescent moon marking she has on her back. As with most of my fur-babies, she is also marked with a heart on her for head. ❤️
While the first of many, Crescent is by far the ambassador of my program. This exhilarating experience was documented not only on video, but also with a new person in the room. I’ll soon share this exciting video, in the meantime I’ll be creating educational content and listings of items for sale.

This is Squirrel, she was renamed when it became apparent that she holds her tail up over her back. She absolutely craves attention and roams freely about my bathroom, which is a lot of fun to Glider-proof, ha! 😅

Introducing Crescent HoneyMoon Dancer!
This beautiful sugar glider girl is the (confirmed) first Legacy baby that I’ve been breeding for, disposition! I’ll be posting more pics soon.
As part of my personal studies and experiments, Crescent had zero human contact until this day. She immediately sought my attention and that of my visitor/witness. Fearlessly climbing, sniffing and accepting touch from both of us!
I’m so proud of this little girl and she will remain at Legacy. Two more like her will be posted soon.

I had the most amazing experience with my colony and wanted to share with you. 🥰
It had been a long hard day and it was dark before feeding, when I entered the room eVerYoNe was scrambling to the side of the enclosure and I apologized profusely. When I stepped into their house and put the food in the kitchen, no one was in a hurry to get to it but Honeycomb was on me immediately.
As soon as I stood up it was attack of the suggie colony, all four were jumping all over the place! Bouncing off my head, crawling all over me, kissing my ears and just going nuts as if they hadn’t seen me for weeks. Everyone wanted to be cuddled and pet, even silly little Eclipse, who was running around like a squirrel with her tail over her back, enjoyed a playful game of “I’m going to get you” (It was like hide and seek but when she appeared I would pet her and tosstle her gently). It was so fun and I consider going to get my camera but not only would it have been too dark but I did not want to risk diminishing the moment. Tears of happiness rolled down my cheeks and I couldn’t help how happy it made me, still makes me, it was as if they all knew how hard it had been lately and they showered me with affection. To say that it was a positive experience would be a massive understatement, it was absolutely joyful and fun. It means so much to me that even the young ones are so accepting and bonded to me, straight out of the pouch. It’s simply heaven to know they all appreciate everything I do for them and, in turn, I get to experience their enjoyment of the freedom (albeit still limited) all creatures should be provided.
Exhilarating, absolutely an experience I hope you enjoy.
I learned that it is absolutely possible to play with them, when my clumsy self has always been extra careful and gentle with them for fear of the worst. They enjoy the teasing!
This experience is something I can’t expression to words but I hope that you gain something from my sharing if even it’s just the smile on my face.
The added bonus is the confirmation that my program (selecting for disposition) is a success.

This is the sweetest Joey and he’s a week old (OOP). The first time I picked him up he literally wouldn’t let me go, I had to hold my hand in the pouch so Honeycomb (or maybe it was Dances) grabbed him. I love the way he peers into your soul. 🥰 Isn’t he beautiful? 💕

As you can see, they’re very trusting of me (strong bonding takes time) with them exposing the babies to my touch.. Yes, they’re crazy soft! I can barely feel them with my torn up hands. ❤️

It usually takes about three hours from start to finish and it usually ends up looking the same even when I do different “flavored“ batches, Maybe I put too much care into it. This time I decided to try something new and it definitely looks different.
There’s been a stash of mini containers in my cupboard for a few years that I had originally purchased to store the food in, so I gave it another shot and quickly realized it is a lot more work to do it that way even though the batches are more precise and it will save some waste.; there’s also a ton more dishes to wash 😅. Back to putting two days worth in a jar!
Each batch usually lasts about six weeks for 10 gliders.

I am impressed every day by the way the new joeys are so instantly loveable and accepting. Maybe it’s because they know how much I love them but I think it’s because they’re given big, beautiful digs with the freedom and respect to live naturally in an unnatural environment. ❤️
