Winner's Circle Equine Rescue

Winner's Circle Equine Rescue We are a non-profit rescue that takes in sick, injured, abandoned, or unwanted equines. Our EIN # is: 27-1467688 We are a 501c3.

We are a non-profit horse rescued located in Azle Texas. We started off with one off the track thoroughbred mare that we rescued from slaughter; After her came another thoroughbred and after him another. We finally decided that we had enough land and time to open up a legitimate rescue for the horses around us in need. We now have many horses of all shapes and sizes that have been rescued and/or

surrendered. We would love to be an "open door facility" but due to the currently smaller size of our rescue (we only operate on 55 acres with three separate pastures and corrals) we can only take a horse in when another horse has been adopted out. We ONLY adopt to approved homes and when certain conditions are met. We care a very great deal about every equine that enters our rescue and take their rehabilitation, training, and rehoming VERY seriously. We are in constant need of donations to help fund this operation. These donations can be anything from money, medical supplies, feed, grooming equipment, tack, land etc. No donation is to small and EVERY donation is vastly appreciated. ALL DONATIONS WILL BE RECEIPTED FOR TAX PURPOSES. If you would like to donate to our paypal please send your donation to: [email protected]

Doing something little different today... our "pets" of the day are the lovely little duo Mama Moo and Mater Moo.
I am listing these two moo-cows for my sister. Mama Moo is a beautiful Jersey Cow. She is around 6 years old (we think). She is extremely sweet, loving, leads, loads into trailers, stands tied, super easy to catch, loves treats, etc. She has never offered to butt, kick, or run any of us over, even at feeding time.
Mater Moo is an adorable and super sweet little bull calf. My sister rescued him as a newborn from a deplorable situation back in October (a situation that his real mother unfortunately did not survive). My sister has been bottle-feeding him since. He has just recently been fully weaned and is now happily munching on pellets and hay.
Mama Moo unofficially adopted Mater almost as soon as she saw him and the two are now pretty inseparable.
These two are only allowed to go to a new home together.

We want to stress that this pair are NOT to be sold for processing. They are pets only. We want them both to go to a new home where they can live happily in a pasture, munching on treats and getting affection from their owners when offered. For this kind of forever home, their adoption fee is $700 for the pair (we would also be willing to pay for Mater's steer surgery when he is ready for it).
If you are interested in offering these two lovely critters a new home please PM us. Thank you! -Ashley

**SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT**

Good morning everyone and a very Merry Christmas to you all!
I wanted to make a special request, if you live anywhere near our horses, PLEASE do not feed them across the fence unless you see one of us working with them and get special permission.
Someone has been feeding our horses over the fence and we’ve had SEVERAL cases of colic in the past few weeks.
DO NOT FEED ANIMALS THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOU, ESPECIALLY ANIMALS WHO ARE AS SENSITIVE AS HORSES!!!!!

Ps even if you have received permission in the past to give our animals treats, we insist that you kindly refrain for now as our horses are getting horribly sick…

All she wants for Christmas is a new home!
This is our beautiful CC. She is kind, gentle, and easy on the ground. Easy to catch, loads in and out of trailers with ease, stands perfectly for the farrier, takes her wormer with ease, stands tied, and does very well with her pasture mates (big and small). During the big ice storm in February, CC slipped on some ice and hurt her hip. Since then, she moves around just fine (no limp or soreness even at a gallop), however, we have not tried her under saddle. We are adopting her out as a companion horse.
CC is a registered Thoroughbred, however, we are NOT adopting her out as a breeding mare (her registered name is Coaches Choice). She stands around 16.1 hands tall and is 11 years old.
Her adoption fee is $500. Please let us know if you would like more information on our lovely CC. -Winners Circle Equine Rescue

Good morning and Happy Friday!

I wanted to give you a quick update on our senior Tonto. We took in Tonto a few months ago as a skinny old gelding with a horrific skin infection and in dire need of some TLC. So far Tonto has been thriving and his skin is now clear and he is finally starting to pick up weight. This sweet old man's personality has really shown through and he is a joy to have around. We are excited to see this boy's progress as he continues his journey to recovery. :)

Horse of the day!
Little mini pony named Pearl. This lovely little black varnish appaloosa is about 5-10 years old, stands tied, picks up all four feet, and leads very well. Pearl was not handled a whole lot in her life previous to coming to our place, so she can be very shy at first. In a large area, she'll give you a good workout to catch. She does come to food though and will stand once she feels your arm go around her neck to be caught. We have been working with this little pony daily and she is already showing tremendous progress by letting us walk up to her in her pen, wrap our arms around her, pet and love all over, and shower her with affection without her walking off. She has never offered to bite or kick, even at her most fearful. However, we do not recommend Pearl for children at this time because of her initial unease. Pearl's adoption fee is currently $300. Please let us know if you are interested in adopting this pretty little pony. -Winners Circle Equine Rescue

Our horse of the day is the beautiful palomino gelding Diamond. He stands around 15.1 hands tall and is about 21 years old. Diamond is a very good boy, he is easy to catch, easy to feed, does well for the farrier, loads in and out of trailers, and loves to be groomed on and loved. My favorite thing about this handsome boy is the way he talks to you. Especially when you approach with feed or a treat, this gentleman will nicker and nicker at you. It is so sweet and endearing!
Diamond was ridden regularly several months ago but has had some extensive time off due to scheduling issues. We plan on putting him back in our riding program for a tune up but decided to go ahead and adopt him out as he is now to see if anyone would be willing to give this guy a new home. We do not recommend him for children because of the long vacation that he has had. In all honesty, because of his age, we would love to find this gorgeous boy a loving companion home. Diamond gets along with all of his herd mates (even the little minis) but he does not like to share his dinner and does fancy himself the leader of the group.
Diamond's adoption fee is $500. Please let us know if you are interested in giving this sweet man a loving new forever home!

Do you ever wonder why some people have truly happy horses ? Horses that never colic, bang on stall doors, misbehave while with you on the ground and under saddle ? It's not all due to training.
Its because some horses are allowed to be horses. The absolute very best thing you can do for every horse is let them live outside in a herd with constant forage. Let the horse decide with his group when to eat, when to nap under the shelter, when to drink and when to play. Let him learn his place in the herd. Horses do not need humans or our ideas. They need forage, water and oxygen .I hear almost daily from horse owners they they are scared to let their horses outside because they will hurt themselves. So you turn them out 1 hr a day and they go nuts. Meanwhile 23 hours a day their minds are going nuts as you lock them in a stall with "enrichments". Then they act like fools while you are trying to groom and ride. It's not the horse, it's the human routine
Stop feeding your horses at 8 am and 5 pm on the dot everyday. These types of routines create anxiety in horses that leads to stress colic, ulcers, bad behaviors and more. Feed one day at 8 and the next at 820. Mix it up a little and stop making them live on a humans routine that you think is best.
Weve worked with horses that had training as high as competiting in the Olympics but were no longer performing, all they needed was to live outside. In by allowing them to live out, they immediately went back to performing their very best
In this group pictured , you see 2 three year olds and 2 yearlings. They get along like clockwork, everyone has a place and they are living their best life.
Let your horse be a horse , living out not only is mentally healthy but also keeps them in great physical health as well
Were all about happy horses in training and board with us at Brock Griffith horsemanship. We get lots of requests to stall training horses, which we dont do. There is a reason we work with horses and behavior issues of all levels at our facility, we are excellent at finding the source of the problem. Not trying different equipment to make the behavior better with a bandaid. Humas are too quick to cage everything.. horses, dogs and children for lord's sake. Let these things roam free. For the love of horses, let them be horses. They will literally give you their whole hearts 💙 ** I did immediately remove netting , I just snapped a pic when I put it out**

"Now Angels Ride Her"

When Father Time caught my mare
the leaves were turning brown.
She was suffering and couldn't eat,
it was time to put her down.

It's hard to do what you need to
when your eyes are soakin' wet.
I thought about my childhood
and waited for the vet.

I held her halter, talked to her
and looked her in the eye.
She had no way of knowin'
what was makin' her friend cry.

I guess I wasn't ready.
When she fell it made me weep.
I rubbed her nose and sang to her.
She slowly went to sleep.

A breeze blew down from somewhere
and brushed away my tears,
like a kiss From Heaven
for all the happy years.

In my mind she's in a meadow,
the grass is long and green.
She teaches every kid to ride
and becomes their favorite dream.

Equine of the day!
Our equine of the day is the adorable little molly pony mule Pumpkin! She is incredibly intelligent, smart, sassy, and a fun loving character through and through. Pumpkin is very easy to feed, picks up all four feet, stands tied, and is usually very easy to catch (unless she decides to be extra playful). She gets along with all of her pasture mates and has never shown a tendency to be a bully. Pumpkin is around 5-10 years old. She is not broke to ride and we do not recommend her for children as she can be a little too fun loving at times and requires stern direction once in a while. She would do best in a home that is experienced and confident around equines (mules especially!). Her adoption fee is $200. Located in Azle Texas. Please let us know if you are interested in giving this adorable little character her new forever home! -Winners Circle Equine Rescue

Just wanted to hop on and sing a quick praise to one special little pony! We got Sugarfoot from another rescue who had pulled her from a killpen. Sugarfoot was pregnant at the time (I did not know it) and it took a few weeks for her to get acclimated to her new home. She met my daughter, Emi, when Emi was just a few weeks old. Since then their relationship has flourished! Few things make this Mama happier than seeing my daughter’s love for horses and all things equine blossom and grow. Paramount to this development has been her special relationship with her pony, Sugarfoot. Sweet little Sugarfoot has been gentle, kind, and patient with my little girl. I couldn’t ask for a better pony!

Good morning!
I wanted to post a quick update. For the past several weeks, we've had trouble accessing our facebook messages on this page. After a lot of back and forth, we FINALLY have them working properly again as of this morning. If you tried to reach out to us, and never received a response, I deeply apologize. Things just werent in our favor with this fb page. I was so close to just shutting it down and starting over from scratch. But, things are working now again and we are on track to begin communications once more. Thank you for your attention! Have a wonderful day!

Horse of the day!
We have decided that our beloved CC is finally ready to go up for adoption! We got CC a while ago, emaciated, filled with parasites, with horrific saddle wounds on her withers and a badly fractured skull. It took time, dental care, and several vet bills, but our CC has come full circle! (she still needs some muscle along her topline but that will come in time)
She is kind, gentle, and easy on the ground. If her new adopters wish to get the okay from a vet that she could be used under saddle we welcome the news!

Don’t give up on me…

Don’t give up on me, I gap my mouth because I have an abscess.

Don’t give up on me, I bow off my left turns because my hocks hurt.

Don’t give up on me, I refuse the gate because I have ulcers.

Don’t give up on me, I run by my first barrel because I’m a bleeder.

Don’t give up on me, I buck because I have kissing spine.

Don’t give up on me, I elevate in my turns because I have EPM.

Don’t give up on me, I can’t stop hard because I have sharp points on my teeth.

Don’t give up on me, I’m head shy because my TMJ hurts.

Don’t give up on me because I’m not exactly what you think I should be.

Don’t give up on your horse, he’s fighting a silent battle and he can’t tell you why he’s behaving a certain way until you care to pay attention.

Horses put out what you put in, put your all into listening to your horse and see what he gives in return.

Hello fellow horse fans!

I will be taking a weekend trip with my family until late Monday afternoon. My responses will be limited and if you turned in an application for adoption, I will process it on Tuesday of next week.
