Well we received news that our case was dropped, they claimed they didn't find evidence of neglect. We had sent them enough evidence to seal the deal but it looks to me that they didn't even look at it, I have my doubts they even investigated. So much for the system, Rocky was killed because of the greed of the vet.

Rocky is my 5 year old shepherd. She was healthy. A big 104lb Shepherd. She was not eating as she usually did on May 30 but we attributed that maybe to the heat.. we monitored her then decided on Monday June 3 to take her to our vet. They did a blood panel right then. The vet come in a said. “She has to have her spleen out or be euthanized.” Her blood count was 22. The vet said she did an x-ray and can't see any blood or tumours. But she was sure she was bleeding and had tumours. Completely shell shocked at the two Options being made available to us seemingly out of nowhere, we felt we had no option but to agree as we certainly were not going to just allow her to be put to sleep?
After surgery Rocky wasn't bleeding. She sent her spleen off to the lab and told us she probably has leukemia or lymphoma. On Friday,Rocky's tests come back negative for cancer. Which was good. Her blood was going up 26. Saturday we rushed her to the emergency Veterinarian. He said no bleeding but looks like her intestine was cut when the spleen was taken out and he could see gas coming out. Which means infection.. 20 minutes later she died because the vet gave her a pain shot then euthanized her.
She didn't die from her blood count. She died of incompetence. Another course of treatment we have learned should have been suggested FIRST and the last one if any should have been to have her spleen removed. That was a radical decision. Had the surgery gone well without the spleen and Rocky’s condition healed is one thing. BUT in the process of removing the spleen her intestine was cut which led to bleeding and infection which ultimately resulted in her drastic demise and having to be put to sleep.
She should be here now if not for the Surgical mistake on the part of the veterinarian and her gross incompetence leading up to her taking such a drastic course of action with doing surgery in the first place which was NOT the only course of treatment that should have been made available to her.
Please sign our petition that we are formulating now and will provide a link to, directed at the California Veterinary Medical Board asking for a FULL investigation into Rocky’s Death. We cannot bring our precious girl back to Earth but we seek justice for her in hopes that No other owner has to suffer a loss like we have for no reason.
SUB-NOTE: The Veterinarian in question who treated and did the surgery and who is a part owner of the Bakersfield Veterinarian Hospital , has in fact offered to refund us in full for Rocky’s Bill.
DISCLAIMER : We hold no prejudice against any of the other employees or practicing vets at the Bakersfield clinic. Our concern is with the veterinarian responsible for the decision making pertaining to the treatment of Rocky and who preformed the surgery on her.
