Happy 4th of July everyone, stay safe and keep your pups safe as well!
A sad but true fact is more dogs go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year. Take extra caution and ensure your pup has a collar on with their identification information.
Also, Playing music for them is very therapeutic for anxiety.
A fun fact is dogs like reggae music over classical as they get bored of classical over time. (Penny personally has to have Damian Marley playing when she gets her shots once a month, they've even played it at the vet for her to relax her 😂)

Let's talk dog behavior:

Please consult a dog trainer if your dogs are out of control so you don't end the career of an animal professional.
If you have trouble controlling your dog; so will others. The bigger the dog; the bigger Injury they can cause to others.
I come out to cars to grab dogs if the owners are not able to due to disability; not because the dog will drag them across the parking lot. I, also, do not want to be dragged and risk injury.
I do charge Handling fees for this reason and if the dog presents too much of a liability they are dismissed as a client.
I also do not take dogs that snap, bite, mouth, nip, whatever word you'd like to use to describe teeth making contact with skin. It is unacceptable and muzzles are not bite proof especially if your dog is not muzzle trained.
I do not take dog behavior lightly because, as I said, it can be career ending. YOUR dog is YOUR responsibility. I may work with dogs but that doesn't mean I need to accept being hurt by them.
Animal professionals are leaving their careers so often, if not exclusively, due to burn out and injury and I do not want to be the next one.

Welcome to my Salon: Some things have moved and rearranged since these pictures were taken but I love my little salon!! So spacious and calming. Did you know dog car seats can reduce anxiety and motion sickness in dogs? (Especially if you drive like me 👀).
The safest way to transport your dog is in the back seat with some sort of restraint. Whether that be a car seat, a crate, or a seatbelt designed for dogs.
This not only calms them but also makes the vehicle much safer as they cannot roam around or jump into your lap while driving.

Its a very proud day for Deacon! When Deacon first came to me he was sent with the warning "absolutely no dryers" due to his reaction to loud noises. It took a couple of grooming sessions, a happy hoodie and some love and patience and now not only does he tolerate drying, he enjoys it! It's always a good feeling knowing a dog has formed a bond and trusts in you to fully relax ❤️
