Here at Precision Hoofcare, we believe that improving the hoof will allow for a more accurate transfer of information. When the horse receives proper input from it's body it is able to live, work and perform better. An apparent sign of a horse receiving incorrect information about where it's body is, a horse who repeatedly stands with it's legs camped under itself. Hooves are only one contributing factor to this scenario, other causes include dental misalignment, and chiropractic subluxations. Some of my favorite horsey quotes come from the saddle fitting world:
“No one brand can be all things to all horses/people. Realizing that is a sign of maturity in your saddle journey. Also you can only drink so much Kool-Aid before you puke.”

I mean, exchange the word saddle for just about anything else, horse related or otherwise, and apply it!

I mention trapezoidal distortion occasionally, it relates to the whole horse not only the hooves, and here is an excellent explanation!

People ask "what IS trapezoidal distortion"? Here is a great example in this skull. Something happened to this horse that shifted all the bones in its skull, and then the rest of the body had to compensate. Look closely and you will see that none of the planes are parallel or perpendicular, so everything is trapezoidal, rather than square. Less extreme versions of this are why your horse is *better* in one direction than the other.

Is it fixable? Depends-- how long, how bad, accompanying scars and injury... each case is different. But when you understand that in any horse, their structural integrity, symmetry and level of distortion will determine its ability to go straight down the road, you will appreciate how critically important accurate management of dentition and podiatry is.

Thrilled to announce that I now have access to an ActivoMed Combi Blanket and boots which combines to offer PEMF and Massage therapy throughout the horses body.

So far I’ve noticed more relaxation and cooperation from the horses who wore it for their farrier appointments. I will be sure to report back with any noticeable changes with continued use.
