It is how he receives information about terrain and his relationship with gravity. Here at Precision Hoofcare, we believe that improving the hoof will allow for a more accurate transfer of information. When the horse receives proper input from it's body it is able to live, work and perform better. Todays mission: provide support and relief to this horse.

Long term negative angle to the coffin bone caused heel spikes, and the vet also discovered some sensitivity in the suspensory ligaments.

As the hoof care provider, I've corrected as much as was possible with only trimming, and now this horse will be shod.

Some kids hunt eggs, farm kids hunt Eggbars! Things are a bit different this year, but I hope you’re all able to enjoy what this day has to offer.

It happens to the farriers too…The purple thumb! A little treatment over spray to remind us all that spring mud season is here. Preventative thrush treatment is a good idea for every horse right now.

How many accommodations can you make for your horse during their farrier appointment?
Only by being held did this horse have the freedom to drop her head and neck while standing balanced on the remaining 3 feet.
Even adjusting the crosstie placement can help the horses.

Peep 👀 the pad we had available also!

Maintaining a regular cycle of hoof care is one of the most important things you can do for your horse.
However, the talent, artistry or education level of that hoof care is not something to be diminished. A hoof with balanced forces applied to it will stay in better balance throughout the cycle. A minor imbalance at the beginning of the cycle, will be much more pronounced by the end. Attention to details, skill set and overall pride in our work is so important!

Spring Session is off to a great start. Students are getting reacquainted with their horse partners and a refresh course of all the horse care knowledge that they might have learned last session. Welcome Back! 💙🐴

There’s worse things for horse hooves than horse shoe nails. These are feet from the past week that had some other methodologies applied.
Unfortunately, dogma and believing in something *really hard* doesn’t make it, correct, or accurate.

Horses deserve accurately protected hooves without inflammation or infection. In other words, good hoof care doesn’t require a recovery.

Remember, it’s hard to market the mundane. Sound horses and solid basics don’t “go viral”.

As this horse returns to work, subtle changes to his shoes will help keep the loaded limbs balanced and the horse more comfortable over time!

Fascia- tissue paper thin tissue that can make your horses body (& ours) as happy or as unhappy as can be.
Head to tail to toes- EVERYTHING CONNECTS. Treat the body as a whole.
"Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve Tiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin."
So when you have a trauma related injury, a bad fall, or structural damage, things move. You might bring a chiropractor in to help your athlete out, rightfully so.
Well when they "don't hold their adjustment" it's typically because fascia has already adjusted things internally and re-learned how to be wrong instead of correct. So we have to release the fascia in order for the body to learn how to be correct again. Bring in Acuscope/Myopulse. We can help the body do some fascia release! My chiropractors, osteopaths ect.
Find that when I work on them before or after, things go hand in hand, and results stay put.

" - The left side is balanced and correct.
The right side, somewhere, something (fascia) is holding/ pulling on part of the body and throwing the whole body off. Causing over compensation, soreness, ect.

So cold in Aiken that Chloe chose to cuddle up in the ActivoMed bag while the Combi-blanket was on the horse. The battery even held its charge even though I *ahem* left it in the below freezing temps the last few days.
If it’s going to be cold, at least it’s pretty? Maybe? I dunno. Canada; your weather is lost. Please come get it.
