As some of you know, my Dog Blue has been going through it over the past few months 😮‍💨 You can find more of her story on the @puppernamedblue page 💙 She an amazing, happy-go-lucky girl who is incredibly close to winning her battle with cancer 🫶 • BIG UPDATE: GO FUND ME IS LIVE! 💙🤩 We finally found a surgeon who thinks they can tackle the graft Blue will need on her face after she's healed as much as she can on her own. This is HUGE!! 🤩 I'll be taking her to Connecticut next week to meet with the team and get an official consultation done. • At barely 4 years old this Happy Girl DESERVES to win this battle. She's been so incredible through each hardship. She's been my rock. Good Mornin from Grampa Fergus and his little house panthers! • We FINALLY figured out why the 🐿 Forest Animals Family (and the 🌳 Tree Forest Family including Birch and Sycamore who are still here) has been so difficult to get healthy. The hoarding house that all of these babies have been coming from tested positive for Parnleuk 😮‍💨. Luckily, because I got my hands on these kits early and vaccinated them at 2.5 weeks old, so they're still here and kicking 🫶 • Keeping them going has been such a fight and a resource drain (I went through my entire backstock of needles, meds, nutrigel, and medicated food) but I'm SO GLAD they got out of that house and had a fighting chance, otherwise they'd all be dead. • Panleuk is a serious virus that lives on surfaces for MONTHS and can continue to infect unvaccinated cats who are on that surface up to A YEAR. This means I'm tossing out all litterboxes, bowls, mats, heatpads, cat towers, and toys. Anything that they've touched. It would also normally mean I couldn't foster in the Foster Room for a full year... • LUCKILY 🍀 We are actually in the middle of building a Cat Foster Space in our basement! It'll be done around the end of July 🙌 so I'll have an uncontaminated, bigger, better space for any kitties needing help 🥹🫶 • If you're able to help support all the kitties in need, we're really going to be starting from scratch with some very needed items so that new kittens will stay healthy! Road Trip! 🚗 I had to go to Baltimore for work this week and didn't have a sitter who could handle babies this age 🤦‍♀️So I canceled my flight and took my 6 little buds on a 7 hour drive 🏁 😅 • These guys lived in a plastic tote for 2 days, which may seem strange, but it's my go-to suggestion for any foster who doesn't have an incubator! And I've used as many as 4 when I've had multiple litters, or needed to separate sick babies 👏 Here's why and how you can use a tote yourself: 🐱 Easy to clean 🐱 High, slippery sides keep babies from escaping 🐱 By cutting out about a third of the lid, you can easily regulate temperature with a heating pad 🐱 Easy to take with you! Chipmonk wants to say Happy Mother's Day to all the animal and human Moms out there! I got a call on Wednesday about 2 kittens who were fading and needed emergency care 🆘️ Chipmonk and her brother spent the night with me in an incubator while I gave fluids, meds, syringe fed, and sugar swabs. By the next morning they were bouncing around! 🫶 But... it turned out their brothers and sisters were also not doing well. Their mom had not been taking care of them, and the Foster wasn't sure why. The whole crew got passed to me on Thursday. Mom and 6 babies total that were lethargic, goopy, and underweight 🥺 • 48 hours later I'm happy to say, with the same regimine applied to each of the little ones, I've got 6 thriving babies 👏 a total turnaround in just a couple of days! With some observation, I was able to figure out that mom, practically a kitten herself, had dried up and was not able to feed her little family. It had been stressing her out so much that she stopped eating. 🥺 With my help, her babies are doing much better, and she's eating again! Mom is feral and will be released to her barn home sooner rather than later, but I'm glad she got to see her babies happy and healthy 🫶 Go live your life momma! Fergus ☘️ and Birch 🌳 have formed the sweetest bond 🥹 When I enter the Foster Room, 90% of the time I find these two cuddled up. Watching Fergus become a whole new cat these past few months has been so rewarding, and it coming full circle to make his own tiny kitten friend is the best thing I could've hoped for 💞 • I would LOVE to try to get these two adopted out together. Mamma Clarice (Mother Of Cookies 🍪) continues to improve! After 7 months of no touching I can't belive we've gotten this far in just 3 weeks 🥺 She's still not loving it, but I've been able to collapse the back scratcher down to the shortest distance to approach her (and no swiping! 🙀) AND you're witnessing the FIRST ever kitty-to-human contact that she's allowed! Holy Wow! • To my Cat Loving Keyboard Warriors, I Know Mamma looks uncomfortable here 😅 But what you're seeing is a controlled, safe amount of boundary pushing that's been almost a YEAR in the making. We work with a professional Cat Behaviorist who has helped work with Mamma step by step. This amount of discomfort is necessary to show her that something she's scared of (touch) isn't scary 🥹 and actuallyfeels good! Fergus The Lucky 🍀 BIG Moves today! Fergus was out of the litter box when I came into the room this morning ✅️ Let me open the cage door slowlyyyyy without hiding ✅️ And then check this out! First hand to fur contact!! ✅️ • He is veryyyy food motivated, which is great because the best thing a cat can do is associate you with something they love 😅. We're currently adding immuniquin, l-glutamine, and vitamin gel to his food since his history involves diarrhea and worms (gotta get that gut health back up) and we're looking into skin supplements since his poor skin and fur is very beat up, both from fights and probably being outside 🥺 • Did you know it's dangerous for all white cats to be outside? Sometimes it can't be helped, but they are much more susceptible to skin cancer. Right now we're keeping an eye on the darker areas on his nose to see if they end up being scabs, coloring, or evolve into something cancerous.... • Fergus thanks you for all the love so far! As we get closer to March, we're asking everyone for a little bit of luck! 🍀☘️🍀☘️ • The saddest looking boy we've ever seen entered the Foster Room today 🥺 This man's background is a little fuzzy, but it's very clear that life so far has not been kind. At 8 years old, he's seen more than his fair share of trauma. And our goal is to turn his life around 👏🍀 • 🇨🇮 Fergus 🇨🇮 was sent our way because he is lethargic, not engaged, and has a LOT going on medically. Standard stuff that can be treated, but a definite need for consistency and TLC. He is FIV+, but that's not surprising for a male his age, who clearly has been in some tussles. • Right now, our first goal is to get him eating! So far we've had some luck 🍀 with Hill Science Diet Kitten Chicken. The gravy and the stronger smell seems to help entice him since his nose is very clogged.
