Dakota LOVES to play with her rope toy!
Currently in Mechanicsville, MD -- Available for adoption through So MD Animal Rescue
Dakota, 3 years old, 60-lbs, Pit mix, female. She went to board and train because she was attacked by another dog in the adoptive home and then returned, now she avoids dogs because of fear but no aggression or reactivity, best as an only dog in a home with a dog-savvy adopter who can continue working on her training. She will bark and jump at new people. No kids since she would knock them down. Dakota loves leash walks, car rides, gold cart rides, and she loves rope toys she loves tossing around and toys. She seems to prefer men but is ok with women.

Boomer plays so gently with newcomer little fella Teddy.
Boomer is still available. He has been doing so well playing with all the pups at his foster home, big and small. But he plays so gently with the little ones.
Update: adopted!
Boomer is a 2-year old Pit Bull Terrier mix who weighs 50 lbs. He walks loosely on the leash, is crate- and house-trained.
This boy loves going for car rides and on adventures. He is such a wonderful companion and would love to have his own family.
Update: Adopted!
Teddy is a 1-year old Chihuahua mix who weighs 11 lbs. He is a little pistol. He is crate- and house-trained. Loves snuggles and gives kisses. He is such an adorable little guy you just want to cuddle with.
Took Boomer for a walk with my friend's dog Stevie today. He is doing so great walking loosely on the leash now.
Afterwards, we went to Opies in Catonsville for an icecream cone.
Listen to him smacking his lips. He really enjoyed it. I think he got a little brain-freeze at the end.
Of course he had to say hello to everyone. He is becoming such a social butterfly.
Car rides are his favorite. He goes bonkers when I open the garage door and reach for his leash. Of course I work with him to calm down before we even leave the house, get the car and then jump in. It takes me about 5 minutes now to get him calmed down before we can leave.
Boomer would make such wonderful and fun companion to someone. He just loves being with his humans.
He has done great with dogs ranging from 10-lb Chihuahua to another pitbull his size. Even Stevie the German Shepherd who is about 30lbs bigger.
Boomer is such sweet fella.
Boomer is still available for adoption through So MD Animal Rescue. Even foster to adopt would be ideal.
Blondie and Boomer have become buddies. They love playing together.
How cute are these two?
Wouldn't it be something if someone ends up adopting them together?
Little Buttercup and Willow are enjoying a nice day playing on the front porch.
They are such little love bugs who are still looking for their loving forever homes!
Not even two weeks ago we rescued this little girl from the shelter.
PeeWee, now Nikki, was abandoned on the side of the road inside of a box in a total emaciated state. Her BCS was only 1/9. We really didn't think she was going to make it.
She had so many health issues due to the starvation.
But Nikki did make it.

Buddy is a 11/2 year old Cockapoo who weighs 11 lbs. He has the most beautiful merle colored coat. His his tail is cropped.
Buddy will need daily brushing and regular professional grooming every 8 weeks. Something to consider before adopting a Cockapoo.
A previous adopter (of multiple dogs from us) reached out if we could take this adorable little fella into our program. She rescued him from a horrible and neglectful situation. He was severely matted and his coat was stained yellow and smelled of smoke. She even paid them cash to get him out of that hell hole.
Buddy was purchased originally from a breed in PA.
Buddy is a love bug and follows his humans everywhere. He is currently fostered on a farm where he loves to run around and discover all the exciting scents and farm animals. He stays near his foster mom at all times.
Buddy likes playing with other dogs and his toys.
He still needs some work with house-training and currently wears a belly band. He is getting neutered on 3/9. It usually takes a few months for a male dog to stop sprinkles after neuter, but training and supervision should help so he gets it that we potty outside.
Buddy actually enjoys being inside his crate and looks at it as his safe spot.
Buddy is a cuddle bug and likes to snuggle with his humans. He is a lovely Velcro dog and such a cutie pie! ❤
If you are interested in Buddy, please send an email to [email protected]
We only adopt to a 2-hour radius from Baltimore. Buddy would like a loving home in the suburbs or country. We don't think he would be happy in city center life.

We rescued handsome fella Monty only hours from death row at a Houston shelter.
Monty is a 1-year and 9 months old Dutch Shepherd who weighs 65 lbs.
Monty is an active fella who loves to play.
He enjoys going for walks and does pretty well on the leash with minimal correction. He understands "heel" and "break free" while walking on a leash.
He also responds to commands like "sit", "stay", "here", "down", "in your crate", "potty outside", and "go for a walk".
Monty takes treats from the hand gently.
Monty currently lives with other dogs ranging from a 4-lb Yorkie to a 70-lbs Labrador Retriever.
He has done well with the other dogs in the home.
Monty can be a bit protective of high value special treats while he chews them and his food during mealtime. Best is to just give him those inside his crate and all is good.
Monty is crate-trained and house-trained. He is neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccines, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
Monty would do best with an experienced dog owner who knows how to handle a working breed.
Someone who can keep him well-exercised and can put in the time to continue with training.
Monty is an awesome and fun dog and makes a wonderful companion to someone.
Monty LOVES being out in nature!
We can see Monty enjoying hikes, runs, long walks, things around the water (yes, he is a water boy) with his new family.
There won't be a dull moment with this knucklehead boy in the house!

Romeo has wonderful news!!
He is healing so well after the broken jaw surgery.
Dr. Volker said he can now eat semi-soft food like soaked kibble or canned food broken into pieces. And he is allowed to play with soft squeaky toys!
He no longer has to wear his cone either.
Romeo is soooo happy!!!
No longer available.
Little Cookie is starting to blossom at her foster home, aka munchkin land with Barbara.
She will have some bloodwork done and see if she is fit enough for a dental before she becomes available for adoption.
Cookie is a real charmer who is already demanding belly rubs.
What a cutie!
Romeo is doing well after his second surgery to repair his broken jaw.
Finally Romeo can close his mouth again and is no longer drooling and sneezing all the time from the broken jaw injury he sustained during a dental where all his teeth had to be extracted due to rot.
He is no longer in pain. Hallelujah!
We just love this little fella.

We haven't posted little Romeo yet since he arrived at our rescue because he was just such a big mess.
Romeo is a 10-year (+) old Teacup Yorkie who weighs 4 1/2 lbs.
He was an owner surrender when the family no longer could provide for his care with having a toddler and a new infant.
This poor little guy hasn't seen a vet since 2012 when he got his rabies vaccine as a puppy.
His care has been neglected for many years.
We didn't know how bad his teeth actually were until he was under to be neutered and then a dental was performed. We expected he would lose a few teeth, but this poor guy ended up having a full mouth extraction due the rotten teeth and jaw.
Unfortunately, the left side of his jaw broke during the teeth extractions.
The vet tried to fix the broken jaw with a rod and pins but due to the deteriorating bone, it didn't work and the repair crumpled.
Another attempt was made when that happened using pins and wire. It appeared that it was working.
A few days after Romeo arrived at his foster home it was noted that he had abscessed anal gland that ruptured when he scooted on the ground. That poor little guy was just such a hot mess.
At the 2-week followup the vet noted that some of the bone was still exposed where the jaw was broken and repaired. Romeo also was sneezing a lot with nasal discharge and constant drooling.
He put him on more antibiotic and requested another follow-up a month later.
After being on the antibiotic for another few weeks without improvement of his sneezing and nasal discharge, we decided to have him seen by the best Pet Oral Surgeon in Maryland.
Dr. Volker at Animal Dental Center is one of the best. She also teaches monthly at the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore, MD, where veterinarians and veterinary technicians from around the world learn about veterinary dentistry.
Dr. Volker assessed Romeo's condition and let us know that he needed another surgery to fix the exposed bone, and much more, but didn't know unt
