Dealing with a pet who won't try new food? ❌ Here are some tips to entice picky eaters!
-Don't Free Feed: Serving food at dedicated mealtimes allows pets to get hungry enough to be willing to branch out and try new food.
-Add Liquid: Adding warm water, raw goat milk, or pet-safe broth increases the smell of the food and can be the boost your pet needs to take a bite.
-Transition: Sometimes, picky pets need a long transition. Start with a majority of their old food and just a bit of new food and gradually adjust the ratios. This helps them get used to the new element in the bowl.
-Make Feeding Engaging: Incorporating the new food into an enrichment activity like a lick mat, puzzle toy, or other item can feel more like a reward or treat to your pet.
-Be Patient & Positive: Your attitude helps! Be positive, patient, persistent, and willing to adapt based on your pet's preferences.
