Good afternoon! We come to our supporters as we need some help…one of our amazing fosters woke up yesterday to our KPP Kares forever foster Chewie not responding. Here’s her story.
Yesterday @ 1130am found Chewie unresponsive, but panting, drooling, and extremely hot. Immediately put his feet under cold water to cool his body temperature, then proceeded to soak his body under the sink. Held him against me I could feel the heat still coming from him. Ran to get my phone to call Oak Valley and proceeded back to the bathroom where I jumped in the shower with him in my arms. He was not cooling dwn. His breathing was slowing down, as I was driving i had 4 way flashers going and honking horn for everyone to get out of my way all while breathing into chewies mouth on my chest to get air into him. Arrived at Oak Valley and they immediately stabilized him. Drew blood, gave IV, had IV catheter, and tested blood. Outcome was not looking good. Test results showed no blood clots in the system, which is great! Now waiting to see if he has any neurological damage as he was not sitting or standing and legs were stiff. Waited about another 1hr 30mins. My Aunt arrived with me, doctor came in and talked to us and said I could keep him there to be watched over, or I could take him home, or considering his age putting him to sleep. I chose to take him home. The following list is how I cared for him throughout the night.
Oh and have to keep his temp at 99.5 on dog heating pad.

I definitely need one of our med sheets that keeps track of water, food, potty habits!

So we need to pay for his medical. We are asking for donations for Chewie. We need to pay the Foster’s Aunt back for Chewie’s vet bill. Every dollar helps!
Please put “Chewie” so we know it goes towards his medical. Thank you so much for your continued support.
