Pam Watts Event & Dressage Team

PWEDT is in Barboursille WVa. Pam has won the National Advanced Horse Trial Championship & competed at the 4* level.

We are focused on teaching and encouraging the correct fundamentals of horseback riding as well as proper care for our equine partners. The Pam Watts Event Team is focused on teaching the Olympic sport of Three-Day Eventing. Three-Day Eventing is comprised of three different disciplines: Dressage, Cross Country jumping, and Show Jumping. These disciplines are the ultimate test of horse and rider.

The Pam Watts Event Team is based out of Pam Watts' Eagle Wing Farm. Eagle Wing Farm is situated on 200 breathtaking acres of West Virginia rolling hills and offers the ultimate training for horse and rider. The farm has a 72x150 indoor riding arena, a 80x200 lighted outdoor arena, a show jumping area, cross country jumps (including a water complex) and loads of trails and hacking. There are two barns with board-fenced paddocks and an all weather lounging ring (round pen). It is a family atmosphere in a very peaceful setting, with an emphasis on very correct basics of riding on happy horses.

I know that he is in heaven and I will see him again.

Some days, I’m convinced I can still see him… out in the field, head over the stable door, stood in the yard. My brain tricks me into thinking that he’ll be there when I walk round the corner because for so long, he was.

Some days, I’m convinced I can still hear him… that low pitched whicker, his shoes on the concrete, the sound of hoofbeats cantering across the field. My brain tricks me into thinking that when I look up, he’ll be there, because for so long, he was.

Some days, I’m convinced I could still reach out and touch him… feeling his presence, that soft fluffy coat, that thick silky mane, my brain tricks me into thinking that when I reach out my hand, he’ll be there, because for so long, he was.

Some days, I’m convinced my heart will never heal. That the void he has left behind will never be filled, that I’ll forever feel these overwhelming waves of sadness and grief, because for so long he was there, and now he isn’t.

But the truth is, the reason we can still see, hear and feel them is because they never really left. Their bodies were never destined to walk this earth forever, but their spirit and their heart?
They never leave.

Mustang power! This guy is so incredibly smart! After 12 days I finally made time to get back on. This is our second official ride. Walk✓ Halt✓ Steer✓ Next up...trot! This old lady still has it!

The end of our awesome second ride. We learned leg means to go forward and worked on our steering. Been on mower too much and not on this beauty enough. Oh how I love him! Gonna make more time for this!

Bit, reins, boots, pad and saddle today. Bridle tomorrow will be nothing! He may not be an advanced level champ like my Woody but he is every bit as special to me. He is incredibly smart. I'm in love!

Today was our very first venture into the indoor arena. He said the rubber smells nasty but he wanted to stay right with me and was very relaxed. He impresses me so much!
