I am a canine professional who does hiking adventures with dogs there. I have had to call ACO’s who directed me to the DEM officer. This has happened to me multiple times but thankfully I have been able to stop the attack/ redirect the dog. I am a certified canine behaviorist and know what to do but most people do not and more importantly this needs to stop happening! It doesn’t help that The Rhode Show allowed a segment from the woman who looks like Carol Baskin to post that she herself takes her dogs off leash to both Goddard and Rocky Point. It sets a false narrative that this is okay- when it isn’t. It’s the law. And sadly we have seen the real damage it can cause. I hope this is taken seriously and they start enforcing the leash laws! Sending lots of healing light to this owner and her dog and I hope that DEM and ACO’s take this as a very serious sign to be more present and enforce leash laws!!!!

Please share and let’s hope we can see some changes in the safety efforts of our state parks!

CW: Article about toddler fatality/dog mauling (Dalmatian) Link to article in first comment and at the end of my comments below. Some quotes/commentary below.
"Normally, (the dog) would play," said Juan Sanchez, who identified himself as the great grandfather of 1-year-old Lennox. "They used to ride him, we don't know what happened. The dogs were friendly."

I think I know what happened. I think the answer is right there. They used to RIDE HIM. This is NOT OK.

We have so far to go with public education and outreach. As Family Paws Parent Education says "Sit on the ground, not on the hound."

Of course this is incredibly sad for this family, but this very likely could have been avoided. I only wonder how much this dog put up with before this incident happened.

What body language was this dog giving off that was being ignored time and time again? How many times did he ask the adults for help with his eyes or his body weight shifting or his ear position and just got ignored? Or worse, punished for growling or asking for relief?

Dogs put up with a lot, until they don't.

We need to do better to keep kids and dogs safe and to help them learn to be safe together.

We should NEVER expect a dog to tolerate a child riding them. EVER.

Let’s try and find Bear the most perfect foster or adoptive home! He is UTD on everything and is neutered, 3 years old, and once he knows you and trusts you- a very loving and sweet boy. He was abused by his owners and we had to sadly take him back- so there are some things that absolutely need to be worked on and this means he needs to have very specific requirements met for any potential new home. Must be in RI and have experience with fear reactivity. He’s making huge progress but very much needs a person of his own and would love a playful dog sibling! This isn’t a joke. This is a real threat to your pets! Take the steps to keep them safe and stop adding to the spread by keeping your dogs home and out of communal situations unless absolutely necessary.

Rhode Island DEM is advising pet owners not to let their pets mingle with other dogs amid rise of an unknown respiratory disease.

Meet our wooly Pixar Puppies!!! Born on Nov 1st & 2nd (dancing around the midnight hour and into the wee hours of the morning) to our beautiful agouti wooly mama Leia and fathered by our red and white wooly Naboo who many are familiar with as my service dog. Both parents have stellar dispositions, clear OFA’s, have clear genetics, and are the epitome of what we strive for as examples of not just well bred Siberian Huskies - but family dogs.

We are very picky about where our babies go- it is our responsibility as breeders to ensure we set them up for success in a forever home. We have an application to fill out as well as an interview process. If you are interested please DM me for more information.

They will be able to go to their forever homes after December 28th

We are excited to announce a litter that has been long awaited! Leia and Naboo are expecting for the first time! We anticipate puppies arriving within a week or so- how many babies do YOU see?!

This pairing will also be our very last for a year. We are taking time to focus on some big moves hopefully next summer and Bunny is off for a year after her last litter and Leia will be too since this is her first (this is also a large litter).

We are expecting agoutis, grey and whites, and reds! Babies will be able to go home around Christmas- but that doesn’t mean we are able to approve of puppies as gifts. This is a lifelong commitment and should not be a surprise to someone.

Beautiful wooly red Siberian Husky Eliza is the last puppy who has not found her forever home. Which is no fault of her own! We are very particular on who our babies go to. She has her dad’s laid back and sweet personality- and in my opinion will be an exceptional candidate for service or therapy work.
