“When I was 9 or 10, Tyler (Magnus) helped me with my roping. When I was about 13, Speed had just stepped away from full-time rodeo and I got to be around him and his family. He helped me a lot and still does. I respect him the most, because he won’t sugar-coat it. He knows what will work and what won’t work, and he’ll tell it to you straight. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝘂𝗻.

When I was real young I looked up to Speed and Rich (Skelton), then Chad Masters. As I got older, it was Jade who I watched a lot. Cory Petska has also helped me with my roping as much as anyone the last couple years. I think it’s even cooler now, because I know my childhood heroes personally. Thank you to Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp for coming and sharing your wisdom. There are a lot of Pro athletes out there excelling at what they do, but not all of them can teach. These two put thousands of hours in to do what they do in that arena. We all felt blessed as they shared their time, passion and knowledge with us this week.

We have even bigger plans for next year….. stay tuned!

This weekend is a busy one for all of us competing, but there’s a reason we GET to and it starts with the roping today for the Equinety-sponsored Navy SEAL Danny Dietz Foundation Open at NRS to raise money for those injured in the line of duty and surviving family members.

Thank you Resistol for the chance to talk to the rookies yesterday on CowboyChannel for the Resistol Rookie Roundup. Winning the Resistol Rookie of the Year title was an honor I’ve never forgotten, and the chance these kids get to rope for good money on a big stage this weekend is awesome—another way Resistol is taking care of the future industry.

Also, Weston REALLY liked the studio.

Nothing’s ever been handed to TWade, and his first world team roping title was actually the culmination of a lifelong journey that was anything but easy. He was not raised with privilege. I’ve thought long and hard about what to say and I’m still struggling to find the words.
To say that Winning the World Championship is a Dream come true is an understatement.
I’ve never Dreamt of winning it because I thought it was so far out of reach.
I’m a realist and I wasn’t sure it was something I was even capable of.

I’ve always said the word “I” when it came to winning.
“I” won this or “I” won that, but when you step back and look at how many people it takes to help you accomplish “your” goals it’s very humbling.

Your Circle Matters and I truly couldn’t have done in without Gods Grace and the Amazing people he’s put into my life.

I’ve worked really hard over the years but to be surrounded by this many people that believe in me is the greatest gift I’ve ever been given.
I can’t mention you all but know that nothing you guys have done for me hasn’t went unnoticed.

Mr Win Purifoy was in the Hospital waiting on a double Lung transplant and all he kept telling me was to go win a world championship. This man has been by our side, supporting every move we make and he’s literally changed our lives for the better.

Brad Lands has showed up and showed out in every way possible.
B rad would give you the shirt off his back and never think twice. Friends like that are hard to find.
