Being a good breeder is not a profitable job, if done correctly.

Being a good breeder means
YOU bring all dogs and puppies to the vet for shots and vet check,
YOU deworm everyone at the recommend time (every 2 weeks for puppies, every 3-5 months for adults),
YOU give flea and tick medication,
YOU give heartworm preventative,
YOU give them weekly to monthly baths,
YOU give them recommended healthy good food, YOU give them unconditional love and care ❤️,
YOU give them a clean 🧼 place to sleep indoors (not outside in a kennel or chained up),
YOU give them genetic health tests,
and
most importantly YOU give them amazing homes🏠

ALL of the above is very $$$ expensive but worth it all for my babies.
Every bag of treats, every toy, every new collar tag, and every bed or blanket they need or want!

I am saying this to give people the idea of what a good breeder spends their money on and why their price may be shocking to you.

Because a week ago I was informed that my puppies were too expensive, which I believe they are actually reasonably on the lower side! And that they had found a new puppy for cheaper!
Well today i saw a sad post on their Facebook about this “new puppy” and i was concerned for them and asked about this puppy. The puppy has a really bad health problem that is more than likely genetic and could have been prevented if that “breeder” took precautions and spent extra money on testing!

📣 REMEMBER:

QUALITY and CARED for with extra precaution puppies are NOT cheap!

CHEAP and MILLED pups are NOT QUALITY and CARED for with extra precautions taken.

💙💙Sharing from another breeder:

I’ve noticed several of my fellow breeders with multiple male puppies available, and they’ve had to keep posting pup availability(including myself). So many people are looking for female pups right now. I don’t know if people new to doxies think that females are more affectionate, or they’re just wanting to breed in the future. If you’re wanting a companion and think the females are somehow sweeter or more affectionate, that’s completely wrong with doxies. The disposition of the parents carries over to the pups. Most males will snuggle and follow you everywhere you go. Our parent doxies love to be next to us. Most of my breeder friend’s Weens are their pets and companions. We don’t kennel or keep our dogs separate. They lay on the couch or their oversized beds in the house and are part of our lives. So for anyone looking for sweet doxies, unless you’re just wanting a female to breed later, don’t pass up that sweet little boy because you think a female will have a better disposition, because he will be your forever friend more so than a female who if she’s an alpha, will pretty much do her own thing after she gets out of the puppy stage. This is a pic of mom, dad and the last little boy from their litter, just to show how much the parents love to snuggle.**

Borrowing from another breeder: Aster Creek Dachshunds

Remember that every case is different and these are just general observations on a study of 2000 Dachshunds. If anyone asks me as a breeder- I highly suggest waiting IF you can be a responsible pet owner and keep your pet from reproducing and creating unwanted litters of puppies. Once upon a time keeping your dog intact was just part of responsible pet ownership- we have given people an easy out. That said, after 12-24 months of age I am a huge advocate for spaying/neutering to reduce risks of certain cancers and to help prevent the want for wandering due to breeding instincts.
