Last weekend at Ft. Custer.....it was a great weekend. My mentality was "organized training", all weekend. And honestly, maybe that's why it was so great, who knows, but I had entered 4 of my pups in classes. Just to familiarize them to all of it. Get some passing in, see the trail help and all the different people, busy atmosphere, everything that they would encounter at a race. I wasn't planning on placing in anything and I was going to let them run what they wanted to run, no pushing them.
They blew me away with how well they did with all of it!!
5 dog was the veteran team, Dozer/Spicy in lead. Artemis in team, Polly/Hero in wheel. Same thing as far as not pushing them. We haven't really been able to get out and train very much. Both days, clean runs- very happy with them.
3 dog- Piper/River lead and Raven(pup) in wheel. She never missed a beat, her turns were a little wide, we passed a team no problem and ended up coming in 3rd, which we held on Sunday, finishing overall in 3rd-
2 dog bike- Arrow and his daughter Wren- she was alittle unsure of all the people she seen along the trail and backed off some, but daddy pulled her though and by the end, she had no problem running by them. Finishing 5th or 4th overall, not too shabby- I also slowed them down on all the down hills(all the baby teams I did)
2 dog scooter- oh boy, this was going to be the fun class, running both boy pups - Percy and Atlas. They did so well!! Way better than I ever expected. We even passed a team!!! Which shocked the s**t out of me!! Now head on passing, no, they wanted to meet and greet. But hey, 1st race. They made most the turns, only had a few issues with that and we finished in 2nd both days! Just wow!! I was so super proud of them, all of them!!
The drive all these babies have....they all just out their heads down and just lean into their harneses..
Dove didn't race, but did two dog bike around the campgrounds with Eric and I followed with meeka and Zuri, she did great, passed cars, other dogs, passed my team, focused on the job!
A big thank you!!! To everyone who helped get my guys to the start chute!!
