Everyone meet Teddy, this sweet boy was posted on Facebook to be rehomed due to his family moving. One of my customers that already has a doodle met Teddy and fell in love with him, they decided to adopt him. The same day Teddy arrived at his new home is the same day he came to see me. I wasn't prepared for what walked through the door, in 15yrs this is probably the worst matting I have ever seen, taking it off was like trying to peel wet healthy tree bark off a tree, Teddy had Golf ball size matts INSIDE his ears, on the other side of the matts was tons of long time infection, it all HAD to be removed so his ears could breathe for the first time in God only knows how long. Once everything was removed and he was finally clean you could see all the bruises he had all over his body from how tight his Matt's were on his skin, his new parents made him a vet appointment immediately, Teddy has a double ear infection, Lyme Disease ( which means he was bitten by ticks) and Cancer yes I said that Teddy has cancer right along with everything else he had to endure. Thankfully with surgery everything is treatable. His new parents are getting him all the treatment he needs, Teddy couldn't have landed a better home, but the one he came from I'm going to keep my words to myself for professional purposes but I will say, this is absolutely neglect and absolutely irresponsible and uncalled for, no animal should have to live in this condition when there are so many groomers around, any long coated dog is high matinance and needs consistent grooming for comfortability just like humans do, I'm guessing Teddy hasn't been groomed many times in his life but he stood there pain and all and was happy to let us take all this nasty off his body, it's like he knew he was in the right place to start feeling better on that table and he is the absolute sweetest boy who never deserved this kind of neglect.
Please if you have a long coated dog, maintain it. I have come across many dogs that have needed relief from matting but this was by far the worst I've seen.
Teddy is scheduled for surgery soon, please send love and prayers to Teddy and his new parents, he is so very loved already. 🐾🐕❤️🙏

In case anyone is wondering about an effective method to remove ticks safely these tick spoons work very well! We use them at the shop also. They are a good thing to have in the event you or your pet gets a hitchiker! 🐕🐶🐾

Let's talk about fleas and ticks for a moment!
I think everyone has heard that ticks are out thick, truth is ticks are insane already and it's not even warm yet, fleas too, both are dangerous, both are deadly. Natural sprays do not work and are harmful, same with cheap topicals from the dollar store. Fleas and ticks become immune to what is in the things you are giving your pets so the formulas on the flea and tick treatments need to be updated, most of the treatments you're seeing on the shelf are no longer working. Fleas have different life cycles, egg, larvae, pupae and adult, each stage needs to be stopped in its tracks or you are going to have a problem. Ticks start very tiny and can be hard to see, they can be latched on for a week or two and you won't even realize it. These little pests are deadly to our pets and can be to you too. Please make sure you are treating your pets with good treatments! Usually I am all for natural but with these bugs it's really not an option anymore.

To ensure the safety of other animals in our salon if your pet comes in with an over abundance of fleas we have no choice but to turn you away, not because we want to, because we have to.
We check every dog for ticks when drying and will let every owner know if we find any.
Things I can recommend for treatment.
Revolution
Vectra 3D (not on shelves, Amazon or chewy has it)
Simperica Trio (needs vet approval but is the absolute best and covers everything)
Nexguard (Vet approval needed)
These are the ones I KNOW WORK.
Frontline is not working anymore. I do not recommend.
