is a non-profit organization which has been serving people and pets since 1979. By agreement with the Raleigh County Commission and the City of Beckley, the Humane Society enforces state and local laws pertaining to animals but is not a government agency. The animal shelter is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday excluding holidays from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information about the animal shelter, call 304-253-8921 or fax 304-255-9134.

Shelter Dog Saturday
Meet Caspien, a mixed breed male who is estimated to be two years old. Caspien is full of energy and full of himself. Even though he is two years old he has the energy of a puppy. He loves to play outside but he does not like to stay still. Caspien has been at the Humane Society since the beginning of June looking for his furever home. We need your help finding our long term dogs their forever home !
With that being said we are starting long termer Tuesday. What is long termer Tuesday ? Simply put every Tuesday we will be posting one of our long term dogs in hope of finding them their forever home !
Meet Max he has been here at the Humane Society since March of 2023. Max is a very sweet guy with lots of energy. Shelter Dog Saturday
Meet Lady Bug, a mixed breed female who is estimated to be a year old. She is a medium sized girl weighing in at 35 lbs. Lady Bug is a very sweet girl who is absolutely adorable. She is a very smart girl ! Lady Bug likes to play with toys and loves treats, she even knows how to take them gently ! This sweet girl has been at the Humane Society since the beginning of August looking for her forever home.

We have puppies and boy can they eat! We are in serious need of wet puppy food. Donations can be shipped directly to the shelter or dropped off during business hours. Meet sweet, sad boy Simon. He is one of the dogs we would really love to see go into a foster home. Somewhere he can thrive and let his personality shine. As many of you have seen, we are at maximum capacity yet again. We aren't even able to take dogs from Animal Control at the moment.
