Scout, the legendary escape artist from the local Animal Shelter. Taking matters into his own paws, chose to find his furever home at Meadow Brook. He chose us.

He adopted his humans and they adopted me. Meadow Brook is located directly across the street from the Antrim County Animal Shelter. Back in the Spring of 2017 during the late evening when all was asleep, a black dog was found, curled up in a ball sleeping on one of the couches in our Front Lobby. We would call the Sherriff and he would come pick up this sad, black dog; an escape artist from the A

nimal Shelter. A couple evenings later, again this black dog would be found sleeping on the couch. After the 3rd time, one of our employees adopted "Scout". Unfortunately, after a couple of months Scout needed a new home. Instead of making Scout go back to the Animal Shelter, Marna Robertson, Administrator said "he belongs to Meadow Brook, he chose us!"

Scout began to reside on Glacier Hill House. He quickly made this household his. At first, he was a little shy around men, but has since learned that not all men are bad. We soon found out that Scout can open doors and later learned he could climb fences. Which would explain how he kept escaping the Animal Shelter. Scout definitely has picked his favorites and has become quite the ladies man. If Jenny Martinek, Household Coordinator is working, Scout is right on her heels and never leaves her side. Scout definitely protects his household and is always the first to get to the door when the door bell rings. He gives off one or two woofs that alerts the staff. Daily you will see Scout enjoying his playground otherwise known as the new courtyard that connects to his household. He especially loves this time of the year playing in the snow and catching snowballs. Scout truly brings joy to our residents, staff and visitors. This is his home. Because Scout has made such an impact on all of us we felt that it is very important to show our support to local Animal Shelters. Please join us in donating for a great cause with our 1st Annual Scouts House - Paws for the Pantry Fundraiser. We are taking donations of the following items:

30 Days of Thanks: Paws, Claws and Feathers

Day 29 Thanks from Scout 🐾

Woof woof! 🐾 It's Scout here, and today was pawsitively amazing! It was the fur-st snowfall of the season, and I couldn't wait to get outside. As soon as I saw the snow, I bolted out the door with my doof ear flopping in the wind. ❄️Doh!

I started my day with some serious zoomies around the courtyard. I was running so fast, I almost caught my own tail! Then, I decided to play a game of "catch the snowflake." Let me tell you, those snowflakes are tricky little things. I barked at them, but they just kept falling.

Next, I made some paw-some paw prints all over the fresh snow. I even tried to make a snowdog, but it just looked like a big pile of snow. BOL (Bark Out Loud)! 🐶⛄️

After all that fun, I was one tired pup. I curled up in my new favorite king size bed, and dreaming of more snowy adventures. Thankful for winter, it is pawsome!

30 Days of Thanks: Paws, Claws and Feathers

Days 23-28: Woof-Da! 🐾

This past week came and went faster than a squirrel on a mission! My paws were too tired to type on these clunky keys at night. We had a Holiday Bazaar and the humans were busy with early Christmas shopping. Cosmo, Willow, and I stayed in our safe zones, away from the hustle and bustle.

The weekend was a blur, with everyone busy taking care of our residents. On Monday, the staff were hustlin' and bustlin' making last-minute preparations for families coming today. Tuesday was the best because my new bed arrived! I'm sleeping like a king—it's so comfy!

Wednesday brought a costume parade, and everyone looked like inflated balloons. I got scared and ran to my safe spot! And p**f, now it’s one of my favorite days—Thanksgiving! 🦃 It’s all about those delicious kibbles, or “bites” as we call them.

Willow's been quietly observing everything from her cozy corner, making sure her kingdom is in order. Meanwhile, Cosmo’s been chirping away, adding a cheerful tune to the holiday buzz, greeting everyone as they walk down Main Street.

On behalf of Willow, Cosmo, and myself, we are beyond grateful, thankful, blessed, and loved by everyone here. Our hearts are full, and we appreciate all of you—not just today, but every day.

Hey there, hoomans! It’s your loyal pup, Scout! 🌞 Today, I’m wagging my tail with gratitude as I reflect on my pawsome life in this cozy kingdom. 🏰

First off, let’s bark about my home sweet home! 🏰 It’s not just a house; it’s my castle, where I reign supreme! I love finding the sunniest spots to soak up the rays and enjoy the warmth. With my eyes closed and ears perked, I’m always on guard, ready to protect my territory from any sneaky shadows! 🐶✨

I’m so proud to be the top dog here, where love and treats are always in abundance! 🍖❤️ My hoomans work hard to make sure I’m happy and healthy, showering me with cuddles and belly rubs that make my tail wag like crazy!

Even though I don’t get to play with Cosmo and Willow, I know they’re around, and I appreciate our separate spaces. It means I get to enjoy my own adventures and keep my kingdom in tip-top shape! 🛋️💖

Today, I heard it's that time of year again—November 15—when people get dressed up in that spooky, bright orange color and venture out into the scary darkness to hunt deer. I don't like that color one bit! And then they hang the deer upside down on some pole thing... yikes! 🦌

But you know what I'm really thankful for? The fact that I don't have to worry about such things. I'm safe and sound, with my loving family who make sure I’m always looked after and well-fed with delicious treats. 🧡🫶🏻🐾

So, a huge thank you to my humans for all the love, care, and especially for keeping me out of that bright orange color!

But my absolute favorite thing?
