I love having happy healthy ponies! Here is Jewl from the day I bought her to last week.Jewl has gained a lot of weight and has some good muscle building! Then Sunny from the summer to last week and there isn't a huge difference other than a whole bunch of fluffy winter coat, but Sunny has gained even more muscle and fat. I'm so happy that Sunny even with this winter and turning 28 this year, I've actually got MORE weight on her and she hasn't lost ANYTHING! It can be hard to keep weight on older horses especially in the winter! So it's great to see her gaining weight and doing so well!

Things your riding instructor wants you to know: Pt1

1. This sport is hard. You don't get to bypass the hard…..every good rider has gone through it. You make progress, then you don't, and then you make progress again. Your riding instructor can coach you through it, but they cannot make it easy.
2. You're going to ride horses you don't want to ride. If you're teachable, you will learn from every horse you ride. Each horse in the barn can teach you if you let them. IF YOU LET THEM. Which leads me to…
3. You MUST be teachable to succeed in this sport. You must be teachable to succeed at anything, but that is another conversation. Being teachable often means going back to basics time and time and time again. If you find basics boring, then your not looking at them as an opportunity to learn. Which brings me to…..
4. This sport is a COMMITMENT. Read that, then read it again. Every sport is a commitment, but in this sport your teammate weighs 1200 lbs and speaks a different language. Good riders don't get good by riding every once in awhile….they improve because they make riding a priority and give themsevles opportunity to practice.l

NO STIRRUP NOVEMBER is going great!
Its a great way to get back to the basics and I'm so proud of all my students sticking it out and continuing to try their best.
This student in particular started out with me last year and before coming to me only had ever been on pony rides at fairs. She has come so far in her riding abilities and I'm so proud of how much balance in her seat and strength in her legs she has gained! I had to post her progress with out stirrups.

I know you want to protect them from the hardships of this world.
I know you want to give them success and good experiences.
I know you don't want to see them get hurt. To see them fall. To see them fail.
But, hear me out, let your child have a bad ride.

Let them cry the tears of frustration.
Let them shake the sand out from the inside of their riding pants.
Let them face the fear building inside of them.
Let them step back on again.

Yes, let your child have a bad ride.
Let them hate the horse that challenges them.
Let them learn what fight and passion and ambition mean.
Let them realize that when they refuse to quit the horse will take the time to listen.

Grant them the joy of realizing that they are connecting with another living being.
Grant them the joy of realizing that they, although they are small, can be powerful.
Grant them the joy of seeing their hard work pay off, through the days of tears can come a love unspeakable.

Yes, let your child have a bad ride.
Afterall, life will grant us plenty of them.

Saturday the 10th of September 7SETraining will be running barrels at the local Fox Hallow Rodeo in Waynesville about 7:30/8pm. Come watch the kids ride their horses and Mikaela will be riding Jazzy, trying her best to show her stuff (if Jazzy agrees that she should be going fast 😅😅)!

Tickets to get into the rodeo are about 10$ per person
There will be bull riding before and after the girls run. Then line dancing at half time!

Come have a fun time with us and cheer your local Cowgirls on!

What a great first show of the summer season for Sadie and her ponies! Grand Champion in both her divisions (2.3 ft hunters and 2.9 hunters). I'm a very proud trainer!

What a great day for this pair! .eq5521 and her wonderful pony hazel took this 2.6 high and wide wheelbarrow jump not because they wanted to but because I asked if I could push her just a bit out of their comfort zone of verticals and X rails. Dang! Did they make me proud! Facing fears but only 2 refusals and 3 times making it over they conquered this jump like pros! They also hit a Oxer today in a line working on their strides and did beautifully! Can't say enough about these two and can't wait to see how far they go!

Before and after of our 27!!! Year old mare and main lady for lessons ☀️ SUNNY ☀️
When Mikaela bought sunny she was not able to get enough nutrients in her system because her teeth needed to be floated. So Ms Mikaela has gotten her teeth fixed, changed Sunnys feed and hay to a senior diet with higher protein and fiber for her gut health. Also Ms Mikaela has made sure to keep Sunny comfortable with regular visits from the chiropractor and message therapist so she has NO pain and is in good shape even for her age.
Take a look at the dip in Sunnys neck in the before picture and how strong it is in the after picture.
The muscle in her shoulders, top line, and butt!
This old gal is proving no matter the age horses can stay very active throughout their life and continue to give joy to all the little kids who come to ride her.

Ms Mikaela would like to thank her vet, Ferriers, chiropractor, message therapist, and all the people at her barn who work day in and out for all their help in keeping Sunny happy and healthy!

.adams got to ride the newest member of the 7SET Team! WELCOME Toby! He is normally a carriage horse and his owners are nice enough to let us use him in his off season! He is so sweet and a gentle giant. Good for anyone and any size of rider young and old! With his gentle gait and easy demeanor he will be the next barn favorite in no time!
