The Ivy Creek Crew had an absolute blast today attending the GSP Meetup hosted by Kanine Social today!

We hung out with Hazel, one of our puppies, and met a ton of online shorthair friends along with their awesome spotty babies in person!

The whole event was a total success and we can’t wait for the next one 😍

We did a thing!

Years ago, when my little misfit mutt was a much younger fella, he donated blood on several occasions to my hometown’s local emergency center.

Today we begin a journey to keep the tradition going and help save more lives — with the end of vet tech appreciation week, I see all my fellow vet med folks sharing the highs and lows of our careers. The successes and the challenges.

And if this gangly-legged, adolescent moose boy can make even the smallest difference in the life of not only another animal, but the family that loves them, it will make all the hard days that much more worth it. 💖

Now that we’ve finally managed to get some individual photos, we are so happy to introduce you all to our first foster (plus some! 🤣) with the Southeast GSP Rescue 💖

Millie came to us days before Hurricane Milton made landfall in our area of central Florida, but she was an absolute champ and gave birth to ten adorable Pointy mix puppies very shortly after her arrival. She has been an amazing mama to these little ones (although we are happy to announce it will certainly be her last!), and we are excited to share their journey with you as we search for their forever families.

Please feel free to share and reach out to us with any questions about Millie or her big brood, and we will help direct you to fill out an application form once they are all ready to go home!

So as always…

Stay tuned, and happy hunting! 🪶

Both Karter and I are so proud to be an approved foster home with the Southeast GSP Rescue - our love of the breed extends far beyond our own lines, and we are grateful to be able to make a difference in the lives of our rescues and fosters as well.

Plus, there’s a little surprise coming soon as we continue to recover from Hurricane Milton… so stay tuned. 😉

We dedicate everything we do at Southeast GSP Rescue to Beth Cochran, our founder (front center). Tragically, we said farewell to Beth on October 12, 2017, when she passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Beth, A Veterinarian, personally fostered more than a hundred dogs as well as vetted and cared for countless dogs in rescue. She touched and impacted hundreds of people through her work rescuing dogs and by creating the Southeast GSP Rescue. Her dedication and love of GSP’s will live on forever in the dogs we rescue.

In 1990 Beth acquired her first GSP and joined the GSPCA. She read an article about rescue in the journal and realized there was no one helping in the SE and saw a need she could address. For the first few years, Beth managed rescuing dogs on the East Coast as a very small group, communicating with a few volunteers by phone and mailed newsletter – there was NO email or Internet then.

SEGSP now rescues over 100 dogs each year (130 GSPs in 2023) and has over 1000 volunteers in 7 states – quite an accomplishment thanks to the tireless work and dedication of Beth Cochran!

We desperately miss our leader, but she lives on in each GSP we save.

This isn’t a post I thought we would have to make so soon…

Hans - previously Buckwheat from our Little Rascals litter - was so beloved by so many, even from the start.

He was such a little troublemaker, in the best kind of way - full of spark and mischief. I remember him crying my ear off the whole drive from Florida to Louisiana to meet his new family. 😅

He and his new Dad were immediately inseparable.

And so it’s with the heaviest heart, that he had to let us know today that he has passed away. It was a complete accident, and nobody’s fault - because as we know, sometimes life deals us a terrible hand of cards.

We build these bonds with our families so that we can cheer with them, and laugh with them - but also cry and grieve with them…

We love you, Hans. And we love your Mama and Daddy so much.

Til the end of the line. ❤️

Sometimes the right home comes along sooner than expected ❤️

As you all know, we were planning to hold back “Alfalfa” for dock dive training, as he is an absolute water fiend. Over the weekend we saw this first hand- he is already diving off the dock without fear!

Today, we are thrilled to share that “Ivy Creek’s Born on the Bayou” (now called Duke) has found his forever home sooner than we expected and are delighted to announce that his new owners are very enthusiastic about continuing his dock diving training! We are very confident that he is going to absolutely rock it in this exciting sport with his new family. We wish him and his new family all the best in their adventures! 🌟🐾

And as always, happy hunting! 🪶

As we have been throughout the duration of this amazing litter, I am ✨once again✨ very late to updating our social media! 😅

But we do have some rather exciting news!

Seven of our Little Rascals have made it safely to their new homes - some as close as right down the street from us, and others all the way to the great state of Texas!

We have also made the decision to hold one very special boy back with us for a while longer as we focus on dock diving this season with our crew, so until we can find the perfect competition home for him, we are happy to "re-introduce" mister Alfalfa, who is now Ivy Creek's Born on the Bayou!! 💖

The four remaining boys have officially graduated to the big yard, and are having a blast running around and exploring.

Buckwheat is still a little Buck wild at times, but has been doing amazingly with recall work lately!

Alfalfa constantly has his nose to the ground and is unafraid to check out anything new.

Froggy is still sweet as sugar and loves nothing more than giving kisses or sitting in your lap. 🤣

Petey’s confidence has continued to blossom - he is racing out every morning now without hesitation and gets right up there with his brothers whenever there’s something different to explore!

All four boys are 9 weeks old and now ready to go - they will make amazing active family companions or sport dogs! 💖
