Happy Tuesday everyone!

We are looking for a dog walker to add onto our team. This is currently a spring/summer position, with the ability to stay on at the end of summer for the right candidate/situation. This position will start out as a pretty full “part time” schedule, with more hours added based on experience, bookings, and availability.

Main requirements: Must love dogs, have experience with them, and must love the outdoors. There is a lot of hiking and mileage covered during our outings, and our walks take place rain/shine/snow/etc, so make sure you have a rain jacket 🙂.

Preference will be given to people with experience in working with reactive dogs/dog training/working line dogs, but we are happy to train the right person (and provide additional outside training for the right candidate as well).

Our main needs outside of the work itself are reliability, punctuality, great communication, and good customer service (don’t worry, you’ll be spending most of your time with dogs, but we still need to know you’ll be polite, friendly, and communicative with their owners!).

Here at Muddy Paw Adventures, we have the utmost respect for dog rescues, volunteers, foster pawrents, and all those involved in supporting adoption and rehoming in general. Let's talk socialization.

A lot of people think socialization means how well your dog can play with other dogs or people. And if their dog isn't great with other dogs then the solution is to throw them in with more dogs to fix it. Right? Oh so very wrong. 😬 If your dog struggles with playing with other dogs why would you force it on them every chance you can without digging down to the root cause and working through that?
Same thing if your dog doesn't like people, why would you make them say hi to everyone and possibly get someone bit?
Your dog does not need to be friends with everyone. I know that's an unpopular idea but here me out; should I expect YOU to be friends with everyone?
I like people, I don't like everyone.

What's the other part of socialization?

Just being able to exist around things!

I posted this picture of Helo with my neighbor's turkeys because sometimes when you live in the country random animals come by lol. And it's a great opportunity to teach my dogs that you can look, you can observe, but you can't do anything about it.
Can your dog be around other dogs, cats, people, cars, bicycles, kids, turkeys, whatever and just be?
If not, we can work on that. ❤️
