As we bask in the warmth of the day after Christmas, it's only fair to spread some of that delectable joy onto our furry friends as well! Here's a simple, delicious recipe for Apple and Oat dog biscuits that's sure to have your pet salivating in delight.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup of whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup of rolled oats
- 1/4 cup of dry milk
- 1/4 cup of cornmeal
- 1/2 cup of apple chopped into fine pieces
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tablespoon of honey

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Mix together the flour, oats, dry milk, and cornmeal in a large bowl.
3. Add in the chopped apple.
4. Slowly pour in the water, oil, beaten egg, and honey and mix well.
5. Roll the dough out to the thickness of about 1/2 inch.
6. Cut into shapes with a doggie cookie cutter and place on a non-stick cookie sheet.
7. Bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until the cookies are firm.
8. Cool completely on a wire rack, then store in an airtight container.

Serve these tasty treats to your pet and watch their tail wag in pure, undiluted happiness. After all, the holiday season is for our four-legged family members too!

Why crate train your dog?

A dog who is properly crate trained sees their crate as a happy place because it gives them a sense of security and familiarity.

Crate training is also a highly effective management system that can be a lifesaver for dog parents.
Like any training method, crating can be abused. But using a crate for appropriate time periods is helpful with a variety of important goals, including preventing destructive behavior, potty training, and teaching a dog to relax.

If a dog is taught through positive reinforcement to love the crate, it then becomes their own private safe haven. The crate is a place that they can go and not be bothered, which is the perfect solution for when your dog is tired or nervous. Because dogs are natural den animals, they often will learn to love a crate very easily with the proper training.
