Advanced Camp is Underway! 🐴
Today marked the first official day of Advanced Camp, and what a great start it was!

This week is specially designed for campers who already have a strong foundation in riding and groundwork. Today, the girls put their skills to the test with riding games that focused on control, precision, and riding with purpose.

They learned a lot—and had even more fun! We can’t wait to see how much they grow this week, both in confidence and connection with their horses.

🌟 Horse Camp Week 2 is in the books! 🌟

What a week! Full of laughter, learning, and unforgettable moments. This week was extra special—many of our campers were foster children from Calvary Home. Some were familiar faces from our spring program, and watching them grow, smile, and thrive around the horses was nothing short of inspiring. 💛

Camp is more than just riding horses. It’s building confidence, forming friendships, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Thanks to the partnership between Dark Horse and Hearts in Harmony, we’re able to offer this life-changing experience at no cost to children who need it most.

But here’s the hard truth: we can’t do it without you.

🌿 It’s that time again—Second Saturday Service Day is HERE! 🌿

It snuck up on us, but this Saturday (June 14th) we’re back at it with our monthly Service Day! We know summer schedules can be wild, but if you’re able to come lend a hand—we’d love to have you.

🛠️ These days are all about tackling the small (but mighty!) jobs around the farm that keep everything running smoothly. Whether it’s mending fences, clearing trails, or organizing tack—we promise there’s something for everyone!

🐴 Camp Week 1 Photo Dump! 🎉
There’s nothing quite like Horse Camp at Dark Horse… and Week 1 did NOT disappoint! 🤠💥

We went all in this week — learning how to partner with our horses through grooming, games, and all the horsey hugs. 🧼🐎💖 The kids even got to ride standing up and sitting backwards (don’t worry, the horses were cool with it 😄).

After lunch? It was adventure time! 🌿🌊 Whether it was the creek or our own wild backyard, we got muddy, messy, and made some serious memories. Because really, what’s camp without a little mud?! 😆

Huge shoutout to our awesome campers — you guys showed up with big hearts and brave spirits, and we loved every second with you! 🥰 And THANK YOU to all the amazing parents for bringing your kids out each day — you made Week 1 extra special.

Let’s do it again next week?! 😎💫

🎉 Camp Season is officially HERE!! 🎉

We kicked things off yesterday and WOW—what a blast! June is packed full of campers diving into groundwork, trying out different riding styles, getting crafty, and soaking up all the nature around us. 🌿🐴🎨

Our first day was filled with smiles, learning, and a whole lot of fun—and this is just the beginning! We can’t wait to take you along for the ride all month long. Stay tuned for more camp magic! ✨💛

🤠 If you’re not at the Dark Horse Horsemanship Club… what are you even doing?! 🐴✨

Today was another incredible day on the farm! We were thrilled to welcome horse nutritionist Amber Massey from Marquise Equine Nutrition for a hands-on class that had everyone—kids and adults alike—totally engaged.

We dove into all things forage, body condition scoring, and even got up close and personal with some of our own horses for live demonstrations. 🐎🌾 So much learning, so much fun!

⭐️ The Dark Horse Horsemanship Club is a great way to deepen your horsemanship knowledge, build friendships, and have a blast while doing it. If you’re currently taking lessons with us, check out our website for more info and join the fun!

A few days ago, I stood in Washington, D.C., surrounded by the powerful silence of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. We had visited many memorials that day—but this one gripped my heart like no other.

I watched people quietly placing hats, photos, American flags… even an orange. And that’s when it truly hit me.

Every name on that wall is a life.
Not just a soldier. A son. A daughter. A friend. A spouse. Someone who laughed, who had favorite songs, who maybe loved oranges enough that someone still brings them one.

They had people who loved them—and who still miss them.

I’ve always known that freedom isn’t free. I’ve always respected our veterans. But standing in that place, just days before Memorial Day, it felt different. It felt deeper. Heavier. More sacred.

To those who served…
To those who never came home…
Thank you.
Thank you for carrying the burden so we could live free.
You are not forgotten.
Your sacrifice matters.

This Memorial Day, let’s not just barbecue.
Let’s remember. Let’s be grateful.
Let’s live lives worthy of the freedom we’ve been given. 🇺🇸

What is Horse Camp All About?

We’re so glad you asked—because it’s one of our favorite things to talk about!

Horse Camp runs Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–2:00 PM, and it’s packed with fun: groundwork, horseback riding, crafts, and water games. It’s a full, exciting week of learning, growing, and playing with horses—and we’d LOVE to have you join us!

Regular Camp is perfect for beginner riders who want to explore different riding styles and discover the joy of connecting with horses. But it’s not just for beginners—campers are grouped by age and ability, so everyone is challenged and supported as they grow in their skills. Open to kids ages 5 and up!

Advanced Camp is designed for confident, independent riders who are comfortable at the walk and trot and have been actively riding in a lesson program.
