Mi Familia!

These humans are the only ones that matter in a world of chaos. We strive hard to trust and follow the Lord first, and everything else will follow.

So let me introduce the family behind Sparrow Lily Farms. We are the Swartzendrubers, a family of 5(here’s my 4).

And me? I’m Camille(mama). I’m a nurse, photographer, novelist(still working on it), and your creative, crunchy mama.

God told me a few years ago that my career as a nurse would be ending, I would trade all of our luxury lifestyle for a flower farm and homestead. I would be homeschooling, making everything from scratch, and growing our family one self-sustainable skill at a time. And I said “haha, yeah right!”

I’m STUBBORN! But I continued to pray on it and slowly, one thing changed at a time.

Most recently I’ve been dealing with intermittent physical and cognitive decline. At first I wrote it off as hormones, as being a tired mom that works, etc. But finally I saw my neurologist. Before this we found out that I have some congenital spinal/skeletal anomalies, but still have symptoms that are unexplained by them. So we currently await testing and confirmation of a diagnosis that the neurologist seems confident I have…Multiple Sclerosis.

But remember how I said I’m stubborn? 🤣
While this may stop me from nursing it won’t crush my dreams and our life. I always wondered why the Lord gave me talents in many areas. Now I know.

We’ve left the city, we sold our nearly 3,000 sq ft home, bought land and a farmhouse. We have chickens, awaiting goats, and a thriving garden. We are trusting the Lord while we rely solely on my husband’s income. The math ain’t mathing. But we know that with Jesus 1+1= infinity.

So please follow along on our journey as we learn, grow, fail, and persevere. As we trust the Lord for our provision. Because if he feeds the Sparrows and clothes the Lilies, how much more will he care for us; whom he loves more than these…

It’s been crazy here on the farm. We finally have power back after Hurricane Helene. I’m being forced to slow down as my health isn’t doing well. But that doesn’t stop me from running our businesses.
I’ve had a photo session this past week and I’m currently working on fragrance ratios for our Christmas scent launch of wax melts and candles.

All the fall soap scents are soon available in melts and 7oz candles. So stay tuned.

Up late finishing new batches of soap and labeling/packaging what’s going out tomorrow.

You can find our products across the upstate, but the easiest way to get your hands on some is to order directly.

Setting up at N’Spire Nutrition in Mauldin tomorrow.

Set up for On The Grind in Belton will be complete the end of next week!

Our eldest planted her strawberries and garlic today. It was great to see her take an interest in the nutrition needed to fuel her body.

The girls wanted to help prep dough for sugar cookies for their brother’s first birthday in a few months. So of course I split the dough and let them make some now while I froze the other half.
We got a little of everything, even some 🦕 Dino! 🤣

So if you have littles like me that don’t listen or a husband like mine that’s always coming home with some sort of burn or cut let me turn you on to a burn remedy.

Of course she ironically did this after we got home from our local butcher to pick up my beef suet order to render and whip up our various 100% Organic Grass-fed/finished Tallow Skincare.

What is my life?! 🤣

It’s been a long day. A Costco run, medicating the family and trying to nurse them back to health, breakfast prepping, and garden tending.
Our youngest daughter was so helpful.

It also was our first day back homeschooling.

It’s time to restock the medicine cabinet!
I’ll tell ya, moving really does put a pause on your routine. But at last, here we are(probably my top 3 favorite things in my arsenal). Yes I know, a weird thing to hear from a nurse.

🪻🪴🌿Herbalism!🌿 🪴🪻

Fermented Garlic Honey Cough Syrup & Lavender Oregano Tincture

Both are great for cold/flu season and these 2 are my go to because they are jammed packed of medicinal benefits.

FGH: Fights infection and removes heavy metals from the body
Anti-Fungal (candida)
Anti-viral
Anti-bacterial
Immune Boosting

LOT:
•Oregano is known for its antifungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic, and expectorant properties(get that mucus out!)
•Lavender not only helps ease the burn of the oregano but also brings its beneficial properties to the party. Like… analgesia(pain relief), antimicrobial, minor sedative(relax and sleep).

Both of these will be ready to use in a few short weeks. I personally like to keep my honey 4-6 weeks and this tincture in about 8 weeks.

Disclaimer: Please be careful and research every herb you use. Certain medications like lithium, blood thinners, and diabetic medications should not be mixed with high doses of oregano.

So this morning while cleaning I craved the depth of fall. So homemade counter cleaner/spray it is. I also don’t feel like driving to the store or paying $5 if I don’t have to.

1 tbsp Castile soap unscented
1/4 cup distilled or filtered water(I add an 8th of white vinegar for extra cleaning power but keep in mind you’ll have to use extra essential oils)
All the oils listed or whichever you prefer
4 drops each or 6-8 if you added vinegar

*i ended up doubling everything
